Best dropshipping tools for beginners in 2026
Seven tools, what each one costs over your first three months, and the mistakes to skip.
Dropshipping means your supplier ships straight to your customer, so you hold no stock. The short answer: start with DSers if you want to pay $0 for your supplier app. Pick CJdropshipping for free access to local warehouses, and Zendrop if fast US shipping matters more than a free plan. Add Shopify's trial at $1 a month for three months, and your first quarter can cost $3 in software, before ads, samples and card fees. What breaks beginner budgets is rarely the tool. It's the trial you forgot to cancel, or the plan sized for the wrong product count. It's also duties on goods from China, now that the US has ended the $800 de minimis exemption (the rule that let parcels under $800 in without duties). We compared seven tools on those real costs, plan by plan.

Scores on five criteria weighted for a beginner. Entry prices from official pricing pages, or from the vendor's own app listing when its pricing page hides them (AutoDS), in 2026, before tax.
How we compared and scored
We didn't score these tools on how many features they list. We compared them on what a beginner actually asks: what will you pay before your first sale, does the free plan really let you sell, and what goes wrong in month one? For each tool we pulled plans, limits and trials from the vendor's pricing page, or from its own app listing when the pricing page hides the numbers. Then we read merchant threads, app reviews and complaint pages to find what never shows on a pricing grid: charges after a cancellation, suppliers who stop answering, payouts held for months. Cost over the first three months carries the most weight, because that's the money a beginner can lose before knowing whether a product sells. A research tool like Sell The Trend ships nothing itself, so it scores low on the supplier criterion by design.

DSers
DSers takes first place because its free plan is a real plan. Basic costs $0 and covers 3 stores, 3,000 products (store plus import list), 500 imports a day and one-click ordering from AliExpress, with tracking synced for 7 days. Several tools on this page offer a $0 plan that stops you before your first order. This one doesn't.
It connects to Shopify, Wix, WooCommerce, eBay, TikTok, Amazon and Walmart, and it sources from AliExpress, Alibaba and 1688 (Alibaba's Chinese wholesale marketplace). Basic gives you one sales channel, one PayPal account, one supplier account, no staff account and one bulk price change a month. Advanced, at $19.90 a month, raises that to 10 stores, 20,000 products and 5 staff accounts. It also applies AliExpress coupons automatically, up to 10 times a month. You don't need it to start. Upgrade when you want the coupons or a team. A second sales channel takes Pro (3 channels, $49.90 a month). Note that both paid plans can bill extra if your product volume goes past the plan limit.
The limits are real. DSers has no built-in product research and promises no delivery time. Your supplier is still an AliExpress seller: when a product arrives different from its photos, DSers sends you to an AliExpress dispute, and merchants describe tracking that is often missing. Billing is the other watch-out. In 2026, several merchants describe a charge after cancelling a trial, or a card request right after install when they thought they were on the free plan. Its Shopify app still holds 5.0 out of 5 across 6,413 reviews.
- Free plan with 3 stores and 3,000 products
- Sells on Shopify, Wix, WooCommerce, eBay, TikTok, Amazon and Walmart
- AliExpress, 1688 and Alibaba as sources
- Automatic AliExpress coupons on Advanced (10 a month)
- ✓$0 in supplier software while you test
- ✓Basic is enough for most first stores
- ✓Works beyond Shopify
- ✗No product research built in
- ✗AliExpress delivery times, and duties into the US
- ✗Charges after cancelled trials reported in 2026
The default first install for a beginner on a tight budget. Stay on Basic until you need automatic coupons or staff accounts, and check your Shopify billing after any trial. Pick CJdropshipping instead if your buyers expect US shipping times.
CJdropshipping
CJdropshipping works differently from the other tools here. The app is free to install and there's no subscription: CJ earns its money on the product and service fees attached to each order. It's a sourcing agent and a fulfillment network in one, with more than 10 warehouses worldwide and sourcing from China, Germany, the UK and the US.
That network is why it ranks second for an American beginner. From a local warehouse, CJ gives a general delivery time of 2 to 3 days. Check where each product ships from before you list it: products that leave China now owe US duties. You don't need to own any stock to sell from its catalog. Inventory only comes in if you choose to send your own products to a CJ warehouse. Then the minimum is 10 pieces per variant and 100 pieces in total, with 30 days of free storage. Skip that step until a product has proven itself.
The weak spot is reliability. In 2026, merchants describe orders stuck in "Pending" for 10 to 12 days, products listed in stock that weren't in the warehouse, and a product swapped while sales were scaling. Others mention a parcel lost in a warehouse and extra fees requested after payment. Its public score on one large review site was suspended after fake reviews were removed, while store owners give the app 4.9 out of 5 across 2,927 app reviews. Read both numbers with care.
It plugs into Shopify, WooCommerce, TikTok Shop, Temu, Amazon, eBay, Etsy, Shopee and Lazada. Wix isn't on the list.
- No subscription, free to install
- 10+ warehouses worldwide, sourcing in the US, UK, Germany and China
- 2 to 3 days from a local warehouse
- Shopify, WooCommerce, TikTok Shop, Etsy and more
- ✓$0 a month while you test
- ✓No stock needed to start
- ✓Widest list of marketplaces on this page
- ✗Stock and order-status errors reported in 2026
- ✗Per-order fees are harder to predict than a flat plan
- ✗No Wix connection listed
The best free route if your customers are in the US and you check stock before running ads. Order one sample from the warehouse you'll ship from, and keep DSers as your fallback for AliExpress products.
Zendrop
Zendrop is built around the US market: US-based warehouses, plus 3PL partners in the US and China. A 3PL is a third-party logistics company that stores and ships products for you. For an American store, it's a simple way to promise shipping times that customers accept.
Read the pricing carefully, because it's the most confusing on this page. Zendrop's own pricing page lists Free, Pro at $49 a month ($399 a year) and Plus at $79 ($549 a year). Its Shopify app adds a Beginner plan at $29 a month and bills by linked products: 1 to 20 on Beginner, 21 to 100 on Pro, 101 and up on Plus. A linked product is one connected to your store and ready to sell. The Free plan allows none, so you can browse the catalog but not sell from it. In practice, a Shopify beginner pays $29 a month from day one.
That product count matters more than you'd think. In 2026, merchants report a $49 charge with fewer than 21 products in their store, and one warns about an "unexpected $29 charge". Others mention stockouts that forced them to refund customers, and emails pushing a $197 program. Check your linked product count before each billing date and unlink what you no longer sell.
It connects to Shopify, Wix, TikTok Shop and ClickFunnels. WooCommerce isn't supported. On the Shopify App Store, it holds 4.5 out of 5 across 1,270 reviews.
- US warehouses and 3PL partners
- Plans priced by linked products
- Shopify, Wix, TikTok Shop and ClickFunnels
- ✓US fulfillment is the core of the product
- ✓Clear tiers once you know your product count
- ✓Good fit for a short, proven catalog
- ✗The free plan can't sell anything
- ✗No WooCommerce
- ✗Stockouts and surprise charges reported in 2026
Worth $29 a month if your buyers are American and your catalog stays under 20 products. If you're not ready to pay from day one, start on CJdropshipping and come back once a product sells.
Syncee
Syncee connects to more store builders than any other tool here: Shopify, WooCommerce, Wix, Squarespace, BigCommerce, Ecwid, EKM, Jumpseller and Shoprenter. On Squarespace, Ecwid or BigCommerce, it's the only tool here with a free plan.
Its suppliers come mostly from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Europe and Australia, so a US buyer isn't waiting on a parcel from China. The free plan lets you import 25 products, enough to test a small niche. Basic costs $39.99 a month for 100 products from a single supplier. Pro, at $59.99, opens 250 products and unlimited suppliers, and Business at $99.99 goes to 10,000. Paying yearly cuts about 25%: $360, $540 or $900 a year. Paid plans take 0% in transaction fees.
Margin is the weak point for beginners. Once the subscription and shipping are added, one merchant concluded the margins were simply too thin. Others report paid orders not shipped within the promised time, which led to disputes and chargebacks (a buyer asking their bank to reverse the payment), and a supplier raising its price after the order was placed. Store owners give it 4.2 out of 5 across 552 app reviews.
- Widest store builder support on this page
- Free plan with 25 products
- Suppliers from the US, Canada, the UK, Europe and Australia
- 0% transaction fees on paid plans
- ✓A real free plan to test a niche
- ✓Works on Wix and Squarespace
- ✓Catalog not limited to China
- ✗Basic limits you to one supplier
- ✗Thin margins once subscription and shipping are added
- ✗Late shipments reported from some suppliers
The right pick on Squarespace, Ecwid or BigCommerce, and the only one here with a free plan on those builders. On Wix or WooCommerce with a $0 budget, DSers starts free. Test on the 25 free products, and only move to Pro if a single supplier isn't enough.
AutoDS
AutoDS bundles product import with paid add-ons for automatic ordering, product finding and virtual assistant access, and it sells on Shopify, Facebook, Etsy, WooCommerce, eBay, Amazon, Wix and TikTok Shop. One merchant who moved over from DSers explained the switch in 2026: too much manual work on DSers, more efficient on AutoDS in the long run.
There's no free plan. The trial costs about $1 for 3 days, then you pay by imported products: $26.90 a month for 200 (Import 200), $39.90 for 500 (Starter 500), $66.90 for 1,000 (Advanced 1K). Yearly, that's $248.70, $368.70 or $608.70. Billing runs in US dollars every 30 days. AutoDS doesn't show these prices on its own pricing page; they're the ones it publishes on its Shopify app listing.
Watch the add-ons. On the official pricing page, the automatic ordering system is an add-on at $9.90 a month. So the all-in-one setup you want costs $36.80 a month at minimum, before Shopify. Other add-ons stack fast: VA access at $14.97, the product finding hub at $14.97, a mentor at $39.97. Cancelling is the other sore point: in 2026, merchants describe a cancellation turned into a pause, followed by a new charge. Store owners still give it 4.6 out of 5 across 1,348 app reviews, with 7% one-star reviews.
- Import, ordering and product finding under one login
- 8 sales platforms, Etsy and TikTok Shop included
- Plans sized by imported products (200, 500, 1,000)
- ✓Less manual work once orders come in
- ✓Wide platform coverage
- ✓Clear product-count tiers
- ✗No free plan
- ✗Automatic ordering costs $9.90 a month extra
- ✗Cancellations turned into pauses in 2026 reviews
A good second step, not a first one. Start on DSers or CJdropshipping, then switch to AutoDS when manual ordering eats your evenings. Budget $36.80 a month with automatic ordering, not $26.90.
Spocket
Spocket sells access to its own supplier catalog first, with AliExpress as a side option. It puts forward "top-rated US and EU suppliers" across 25 sourcing countries. It connects to Shopify, WooCommerce, Wix, Squarespace, BigCommerce, Ecwid, Square, eBay and Amazon, and every plan includes unlimited orders. Merchants who advise newcomers often split it this way: DSers for AliExpress on a small budget, Spocket for US and EU suppliers.
The price is steep for a beginner. Starter costs $39.99 a month for just 25 unique products, after a 7-day trial (a "14-day" badge on the same pricing page contradicts the text, so count on 7). There's a $0 plan on its Shopify app listing, but it only includes chat support, not the catalog, so it isn't a real free plan. One trick few pages mention: Professional billed yearly costs $24 a month for 250 products, less per month than Starter. The downside is paying $288 up front for a store that hasn't sold yet, and merchants are told subscription payments are non-refundable. Keep that move for a store with sales. The Spocket pricing breakdown details every plan.
Its reputation is the weakest on this page. Its app rating is 3.6 out of 5 across 631 reviews, with 14% one-star reviews. The most common complaint: charges that continued after a cancellation or an uninstall, with no cancel button. Others describe inactive suppliers you can't message directly, stock that wasn't real, and a sample still missing after three months.
- Suppliers from 25 countries, mostly US and EU
- Unlimited orders on every plan
- Shopify, Wix, Squarespace, WooCommerce and more
- ✓Suppliers close to US buyers
- ✓Professional billed yearly costs less per month than Starter
- ✓Broad store builder support
- ✗$39.99 a month for 25 products
- ✗The $0 plan has no catalog access
- ✗Charges after cancellation are the top complaint
Only if you specifically want US or EU suppliers and can carry $40 a month. If you'd rather test US and EU suppliers before paying, Syncee's free plan covers 25 products.
Sell The Trend
Sell The Trend bundles two things beginners usually buy separately: product research and a store. Essential includes 1 connected store, 500 imported products, 100 tracked products or stores, 20 AI credits and one SellShop store, its own store builder. It also connects to Shopify, WooCommerce, Wix, eBay, Amazon and TikTok Shop.
The bill starts high. After a 14-day free trial, Essential costs $49.97 a month, or $32.97 a month billed yearly. The trial asks for your card and charges automatically if you don't cancel, so set a reminder for day 13. The pricing page also shows struck-through "original" prices. Ignore them: the price you pay is the one above.
Should a beginner pay for research in month one? Merchants who've been through it mostly say no: keep it lean with one product and a simple site, test quickly, and don't spend the whole budget at once. Sell The Trend makes sense if you would otherwise pay for a research tool and a store plan separately, and you're sure you'll use both.
- Product research and a store builder in one plan
- 500 imported products on Essential
- Shopify, WooCommerce, Wix, eBay, Amazon and TikTok Shop
- ✓One bill for research and store
- ✓14 days to try it
- ✓Useful when you have no product idea
- ✗$49.97 a month from the first month
- ✗Card required, automatic charge after the trial
- ✗Research is a month-two need for most beginners
Last on this list because of its price, not its features. If you already have a product to test, DSers plus the Shopify trial costs $1 a month for your first three months.
Your budget, your market: where to start
A tool price only means something next to your store plan. Here is what your software costs over the first three months and after, our math from official prices. Included: Shopify Basic (the trial at $1 a month for 3 months, then $39 a month, or $29 billed yearly) and the supplier app. Not included: ads, samples, product costs, a domain, and card fees. Those fees run 2.9% + 30¢ per online sale on Shopify Payments, so 20 orders of $30 cost $23.40.
- Shopify + DSers Basic: $1 a month for 3 months, then $39 a month.
- Shopify + CJdropshipping: the same $1, then $39, plus CJ's product and service fees on each order.
- Shopify + Syncee Free: $1, then $39, for 25 products. Syncee Basic takes it to $78.99.
- Shopify + Zendrop Beginner: $30 a month for 3 months, then $68.
- Shopify + AutoDS Import 200 with auto ordering: $37.80 a month for 3 months, then $75.80 ($65.90 without auto ordering).
- Shopify + Spocket Starter: about $41 a month after the 7-day trial, then $78.99. Paying both yearly brings it to $53 a month (Shopify $29 + Spocket Professional $24).
- Sell The Trend Essential with its SellShop store: $0 for 14 days, then $49.97 a month ($32.97 billed yearly).
You have close to $0 for tools
Your buyers are in the US and want it fast
Your store isn't on Shopify
You're placing orders by hand every evening
You don't know what to sell yet
You'd rather sell your own designs
- Add the store plan to every tool price: $39 a month after the $1 trial months on Shopify.
- Count the products you'll link before choosing a plan (Zendrop, Spocket and AutoDS bill by product count).
- Check that the free plan lets you link products and fulfill orders, not just browse.
- Write down every trial end date before you enter a card.
- Order a sample to your own address before spending on ads.
- Price duties into anything shipped from China to the US.
Six beginner mistakes that cost real money
These come from merchant threads and app reviews, not vendor blogs. Each one has a fix, and most fixes are free.
The mistakes
Installing five apps instead of one
Week 1Merchants who've been through it give the same advice: pick one supplier app based on where your products come from. DSers for AliExpress on a small budget, Spocket for US and EU suppliers. Every extra app is another trial to cancel and another bill, sometimes charged outside your Shopify invoice.
A beginner who asked for advice with a $555 budget got blunt answers: keep it lean with one product and a simple site, test quickly, and don't spend the whole budget at once. Install a second tool only when the first one blocks you.
- Rule
- One supplier app per source
- Cost of a spare app
- One more trial to track
Cancelling a trial inside the app only
BillingThis is the most common complaint in recent reviews of these tools. Merchants describe a charge after cancelling a DSers trial, Spocket charges that continued after an uninstall with no cancel button, an AutoDS cancellation turned into a pause and then a new charge, and an unexpected $29 charge on Zendrop.
Part of the reason: Spocket and Zendrop state they can bill you separately from your Shopify invoice. So cancel inside the app, then open Shopify, go to Settings, then Billing, and check that the subscription line is gone. Take a screenshot of both. If a charge still lands, you'll have proof.
- Where to check
- Shopify > Settings > Billing
- Keep
- Screenshots of both cancellations
Paying for a plan sized on the wrong count
PlansEach tool counts products differently. Zendrop bills by linked products: 1 to 20 on Beginner at $29, and Pro at $49 from 21. Spocket counts unique products: 25 on Starter. AutoDS counts imported products: 200 on Import 200. DSers warns that its paid plans can bill extra past the usage limit.
Before you pick, count the products you'll really list in your first month. Then unlink or delete the ones that don't sell before each billing date. One product too many can push you up a tier.
- Zendrop
- Pro from 21 linked products
- Spocket Starter
- 25 unique products
Running ads before ordering a sample
SuppliersThe advice that comes back most in beginner threads: start with one tool, test a few products, order samples, and see how the supplier actually performs before paying for more tools. The failures merchants describe make the case: products that arrive different from their photos, items shown in stock that weren't in the warehouse, suppliers who stop answering.
Order to your own address and note the real delivery time. Put that time on your product page, not the best case. Buyers who know the wait in advance have one less reason to open a dispute.
- Do first
- One sample per product
- Show buyers
- The real delivery time
Opening without a backup payment gateway
PaymentsNew stores often see their first payouts held. PayPal can keep the first payments until delivery, and its option to release funds faster asks for a tracking number. Send it as soon as it exists, after checking it with your supplier. On Shopify Payments, one merchant saw payments disabled after a single chargeback, one the merchant actually won, with funds held for four months. Another merchant in the same thread had 10 chargebacks on 2,500 orders (0.4%) and the same 120-day hold.
The hold is a decision by the risk team, separate from the dispute itself. Reply directly to the risk team's email with proof of delivery, your delivery rate and your business documents. And connect a backup payment gateway now (a second way to take card payments), before you need it.
- Before launch
- A second payment gateway
- If held
- Answer the risk team with proof
Pricing China-shipped products as if de minimis still existed
2026The US no longer exempts shipments under $800 from duties and taxes, whatever the country of origin and whatever the shipping method. That difference comes out of your margin on every order.
Before you list a product shipped from China, ask the supplier how duties are handled and add them to your cost per order. If the margin disappears, move that product to US stock: Zendrop has US warehouses, CJdropshipping sources in the US, and Spocket and Syncee list US suppliers.
- Rule gone
- $800 de minimis exemption
- Workaround
- US stock for best sellers

Dropshipping tools for beginners · FAQ
What is the best dropshipping tool for beginners?
DSers, for most beginners: it's free and it handles real orders. The rule that matters most is to choose by where your products come from: DSers for AliExpress, Syncee or Spocket for US and EU suppliers. If your buyers are in the US and you want products stocked close to them, CJdropshipping costs nothing to install. Zendrop is the paid pick for US fulfillment. Is there a free dropshipping tool that actually works?
Yes, but only a few free plans let you sell. DSers Basic (3,000 products) and CJdropshipping (no subscription, fees per order) handle real orders, and Syncee's free plan covers 25 products. Dropshipman's free plan stops at 10 imports a month per source. Zendrop's free plan allows no linked product, Spocket's $0 plan only includes chat support, and AutoDS has no free plan at all.How much does it cost to start dropshipping in 2026?
As little as $3 in software for your first three months, then $39 a month. Once a product sells, paying Shopify yearly with DSers Basic brings your fixed cost to $29 a month, or $348 for the year (our math). Samples and ads are the bigger budget lines: set a test budget yourself rather than trusting the very different estimates vendor blogs publish.DSers or AutoDS: which should a beginner pick?
DSers to start, AutoDS once manual ordering takes too much of your time. When you do switch, look at yearly billing: AutoDS Import 200 costs $248.70 a year, $74.10 less than twelve monthly payments of $26.90 (our math). Just don't commit for a year before your first products sell, since unused months may not come back.Do I need a paid product research tool to start?
No. A research subscription is a month-two purchase, once you're testing ads. For scale, Sell The Trend's Essential plan gives you 100 tracked products or stores and 20 AI credits for $49.97 a month. That's more than Shopify Basic and DSers combined, for data you can't act on until you have a product to test. Can I get my money back if a dropshipping app charges me after I cancel?
Don't count on it. Merchants say Spocket told them subscription payments are non-refundable and offered a discount instead of a refund, and DSers refused to refund unused months of a yearly plan. What helps is proof: your cancellation screenshots, your Shopify billing page and your bank statement showing the charge after that date. Send all three to the vendor's support in your first message. Can I dropship on TikTok Shop without a website?
Yes. CJdropshipping, Zendrop, AutoDS and Sell The Trend list TikTok Shop among their sales channels, and DSers connects to TikTok. Some merchants start there to skip the cost of a website while they test a product. Check the limits first: Dropshipman, for example, only connects to TikTok Shop in the US, and TikTok Shop has its own seller rules to read before you list.Is dropshipping still profitable in 2026?
It can be, but margins are thinner than course sellers suggest. Take a $30 sale: Shopify Payments keeps $1.17 (2.9% + 30¢). Then you pay the product, shipping, any duties on parcels from China, your ad cost per sale and your monthly apps. If a sample order shows no room left after all of that, no tool will fix it. Be wary of paid courses that promise a monthly income.Do I need an LLC to start dropshipping?
Not necessarily: the right structure depends on your state and your situation, so ask an accountant before you pick one. What helps either way is keeping clean records from your first sale: what you collected, what you refunded, what you paid suppliers and in duties. A dedicated bank account and payment accounts in your business name also make life easier if a payment provider asks for business documents.
