Switching from WiseStamp: where to go, and how to leave without paying for another year
Five destinations matched to your reason for leaving, what WiseStamp wipes when the plan ends, and an eight-step exit.
The short answer: Exclaimer if you want the signature added server-side so it shows up from phones too, CodeTwo if your whole company runs on Microsoft 365, Signitic if price is the problem (free up to 19 users, billed in euros), Letsignit if your IT team needs EU data hosting, and HubSpot's free generator if you're a team of one.
Before you pick, two things matter more than the tool. WiseStamp bills yearly and renewals are never refunded, so check your renewal date today. And WiseStamp has no export: your signatures, and the images it hosts, go away with the subscription. We compared these five destinations and the WiseStamp exit path in 2026.
The ranking is editorial: a sponsored spot is always flagged on its card, and no affiliate link changes a score.
Why teams leave WiseStamp, and what trips them up on the way out
WiseStamp is still the quickest email signature tool to set up. A small marketing team gets a polished signature with banners and click stats in minutes, which is why it sits in our email signature software ranking with 3.6 out of 5. People don't leave because it's hard to use. They leave over billing, over the Chrome extension, and over what they find out the day they try to cancel. Here are six reasons, all drawn from WiseStamp's own help center and from its users' reviews.
Yearly billing, and renewals are final
Every current plan is billed annually, in US dollars. The no-questions refund only covers 14 days after your very first purchase. Renewal charges are non-refundable, full stop. A recurring complaint in public reviews: the renewal went through with no reminder email beforehand, and support refused the refund.
Cancelling doesn't void an issued invoice
Only the account owner can cancel, under Plan & Billing, then Subscriptions. If an invoice has already been issued, cancelling or even deleting the account won't cancel it. Some customers report they couldn't find a cancel option in their dashboard at all; others say they were charged twice after a free trial ended. If you pay by PayPal or bank transfer, expect to go through support.
Server-side signatures start at $189 a month
Pro+, Basic and Grow add the signature inside each person's email client. Server-side signatures, the kind that work from any device, only come with Platform: $189 a month plus $1 per employee. For 200 mailboxes that's $4,668 a year. On the cheaper plans, emails sent from phones often go out with the wrong signature or none, a problem users flag often.
A 2.7-star Chrome extension
The WiseStamp Chrome extension sits at 2.7 out of 5 across about 1,600 ratings, with 200,000 users. The complaints repeat: the wrong signature on a second Gmail account even after reinstalling, a mailbox that disconnects and needs reconnecting, a signature that just stops showing up. And if WiseStamp is connected through both the extension and the Google API, every email goes out with two signatures.
New Outlook needs workarounds
There's no WiseStamp desktop app for the new Outlook on Windows. You use the add-in or paste the signature by hand. The add-in requires your WiseStamp address to be Outlook's primary account, and a centralized deployment can take up to 72 hours to reach everyone. On Outlook for Mac, some users report the HubSpot add-in blocking their WiseStamp signature.
No proper team control below Platform
Single sign-on starts on Platform. Audit logs, a 99.9% uptime SLA and a dedicated success manager need Enterprise, on quote. For a growing company that wants IT to own signatures, that means jumping from a few hundred dollars a year to several thousand. That price jump is usually when teams start looking at Exclaimer or CodeTwo, where server-side is included in the entry plan.

WiseStamp alternatives, one by one
For each tool: why it fixes a WiseStamp problem, who it fits, its catch, how to move your signatures over, and what it costs. Scores and prices match our email signature software ranking, so each tool has the same numbers everywhere on the site.
The tools
Exclaimer: server-side signatures on every plan
Best overall, server-sideWhy switch to Exclaimer. It fixes WiseStamp's most common complaint head-on. Exclaimer stamps the signature on the server as the email leaves, so it's there whether someone writes from an iPhone, the new Outlook or a shared mailbox. That's included from the Starter plan at $0.90 per user per month, billed yearly. At WiseStamp, the same thing means Platform at $189 a month. For 50 users, Exclaimer runs $540 a year on Starter to $1,050 on Pro. It's our top pick with 4.3 out of 5.
Who it's for. SMBs and mid-market teams on Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace that want IT to own signatures: rules per department, directory sync with Entra ID or Google, and an option to update Sent Items so people see what customers saw.
Who it's not for. A five-person shop. There's a 10-user minimum, and most of the rule engine will sit unused.
The catch. Exclaimer only imports its own template files (.ExSig2). Your WiseStamp HTML won't load, so you rebuild the design in its Signature Designer. Support is the weak spot in its reviews: 3.6 out of 5 in our ranking.
How to move from WiseStamp. Exclaimer publishes its own WiseStamp-to-Exclaimer guide, and the order is sound: capture your templates and rules, clean the directory, run a pilot, then roll out in waves while WiseStamp stays live. The step people skip: remove the WiseStamp extension and client-side rules from every machine, or the old signature keeps appearing above the new one. The trial is 14 days, no card.

CodeTwo: built for Microsoft 365 shops
Best for Microsoft 365Why switch to CodeTwo. If the new Outlook is what pushed you out of WiseStamp, CodeTwo was designed around Microsoft 365 from day one. There's a single plan with every feature, at $1.22 per user per month billed yearly for 10 to 25 licenses. The price drops with volume: $0.95 at 200, $0.73 at 500. Fifty users land around $670 to $730 a year. Our score: 4.2 out of 5.
Who it's for. Companies whose mail lives entirely in Microsoft 365 and who are tired of picking between plan tiers. It's also one of the few here with a one-month commitment, at $1.36 per user instead of $1.22. That's handy if you want a month of overlap with WiseStamp without signing up for a year.
Who it's not for. Google Workspace teams, and anyone under ten seats: the minimum is 10 licenses.
The catch. In cloud mode, shared mailboxes count as licenses. If info@ and billing@ send signed email, they're on the invoice. Count them before you request a quote.
How to move from WiseStamp. The 14-day trial needs no card, covers up to 1,000 mailboxes and can be stretched to 21 days. That's enough for a real pilot on a whole department. Rebuild the signature from your screenshot, connect Entra ID, then remove the WiseStamp Outlook add-in before you switch the rule on for everyone.

Signitic: the cheapest way out for a small team
Best free planWhy switch to Signitic. If the bill is your reason for leaving, start here. Signitic is free for up to 19 users, with banners and analytics already in the free tier. Past that, Standard costs €1 per user per month, paid yearly upfront. Fifty users come to €600 a year, against $828 on WiseStamp Basic. Our ranking gives it 4.4 out of 5, the highest score of the five.
Who it's for. Small teams on Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace that want centrally managed signatures for little or nothing. Signitic also absorbed Sigilium and Mailtastic, so the setup will feel familiar if you've used either.
Who it's not for. Teams that want to pay strictly per seat from day one: the paid plan has a 20-license minimum, paid for the year. It's a French vendor and bills in euros, which some US finance teams would rather avoid.
The catch. Upper tiers aren't priced in detail publicly, and it's a smaller company than Exclaimer or CodeTwo. For complex per-department rules at scale, those two go further.
How to move from WiseStamp. Rebuild the template from a screenshot and the HTML of your current signature, mapping each field (name, title, phone) to the directory. Grab your logos and banners as original files first. Run your pilot inside the 14-day trial, no card needed, while WiseStamp is still live.

Letsignit: when IT asks where the data lives
Best for complianceWhy switch to Letsignit. If the question pushing you out is "where does our directory data end up?", Letsignit has the clearest answer: EU data hosted in France or Europe, ISO 27001 and ISO 27018 certified. Email signatures and digital business cards cost $2 per user per month, billed yearly, so about $1,200 a year for 50 users. Our score: 4.1 out of 5.
Who it's for. Larger organizations with European staff or customers that must document their processors, and that want digital business cards in the same tool. It covers Microsoft 365, Google Workspace and Apple Mail.
Who it's not for. A small team leaving WiseStamp to save money. Signitic or Exclaimer Starter cost less.
The catch. Billing is yearly, like WiseStamp. SSO, SCIM provisioning and on-premise hosting sit in Enterprise, on quote.
How to move from WiseStamp. It's the one tool here that takes your existing code: expert mode accepts custom HTML. Copy your WiseStamp signature's HTML from Gmail or Outlook, swap the image URLs for images you host, and paste it in. You skip the rebuild, not the pilot.

HubSpot: a free signature, nothing to cancel later
Free, for one personWhy switch to HubSpot. Plenty of WiseStamp accounts are freelancers paying for Pro+ at $9 a month, $108 a year, to get one signature. HubSpot's email signature generator is free, needs no account and adds no third-party branding. Fill in the form, pick a template, paste the result into Gmail or Outlook. There's nothing to renew. Our HubSpot review scores the vendor 4.2 out of 5.
Who it's for. Freelancers, consultants and solo founders who want a clean signature with a logo and links, and nothing else.
Who it's not for. Any team. There are no users, no directory sync and no bulk updates. Change the logo and everyone redoes their own signature by hand.
The catch. You have to host your logo somewhere public yourself. And a pasted Gmail signature is client-side, so your phone needs its own setup.
How to move from WiseStamp. Host your logo first, on your website or a public file link. Build the signature, paste it into Gmail or Outlook, send yourself a test, then remove WiseStamp.

Leaving WiseStamp in eight steps
Order matters more than the tool you pick. The first two steps protect your money, the next three your signatures, the last three your outgoing email. Plan on one to two weeks for a team, an hour if it's just you.
The steps
Find your renewal date, then cancel right away
Day 1Open your WiseStamp profile, then Plan & Billing. Your renewal date is there, and it's the only date that matters, because renewals are never refunded. Only the account owner can cancel, so confirm who that is first.
Here's the move most people miss: cancel now, before you've even picked a replacement. You keep access, and your signatures keep working, until the end of the period you already paid for. The surprise charge is off the table, and you still have weeks to migrate. Save the confirmation email. On PayPal or bank transfer, write to support instead.
- Time
- 10 minutes
- Blocker
- account owner access
Check whether you're still inside the refund window
Day 1If you just paid for your very first year, you have 14 days to ask for a refund, no questions asked. It takes 10 to 14 business days to land. After 14 days, or on any renewal, the answer is no.
Still on a free trial? Know what happens when it ends: signatures go inactive, and images get swapped for an "IMAGE NOT FOUND" placeholder. Don't let a trial run out on signatures your whole team is using.
- Window
- 14 days, first purchase only
- Payout
- 10 to 14 business days
Back up your signatures yourself
Week 1WiseStamp has no export feature. So you back things up by hand while everything still renders: a screenshot of each template, the HTML of each signature (copy it from Gmail or Outlook settings), and a list of your rules and banners per department.
Most important: download your images as original files. Logo, headshots, banners, social icons. Images hosted by WiseStamp stop loading when the subscription ends.
- Time
- one hour to half a day
- Risk if rushed
- missing logos
Decide server-side vs client-side, and clean the directory
Decide this before you pick a tool. Server-side signatures work from phones and the new Outlook, but the sender doesn't see them while typing. Client-side signatures are visible, but they get installed machine by machine.
Then clean your Microsoft or Google directory: titles, phone numbers, departments. Every tool on this page fills signatures from it, so a typo there becomes a typo every customer sees. Count shared mailboxes too, and check license minimums: 10 at Exclaimer and CodeTwo, 20 on Signitic's paid plan.
- Time
- half a day
- Count
- shared mailboxes and minimums
Rebuild the signature in the new tool
Rebuild the template from your screenshot. In Letsignit, expert mode takes your HTML once the image URLs are replaced. In Exclaimer, CodeTwo and Signitic, recreate it in the editor and map each field to the directory.
Send test emails to Gmail, Outlook and a phone, in HTML and plain text. In plain text or RTF, images get enlarged or replaced by their file names. That's expected, but make sure the text still reads well.
- Time
- half a day
- Test
- HTML, plain text, mobile
Pilot while WiseStamp is still running
Week 2Turn the new signature on for three to five people, ideally on different devices, and remove WiseStamp for that group only. Everyone else keeps WiseStamp until cutover. Exclaimer's own migration guide recommends exactly this.
Have the pilot group send real emails for two or three days, including replies deep in long threads. You'll catch doubles and broken images before a customer does.
- Time
- 2 to 3 days
- Group
- 3 to 5 people
Uninstall WiseStamp properly, machine by machine
This is the step that causes double signatures when it's rushed. For each person: remove WiseStamp from the Google account's third-party connections, delete the WiseStamp signature in Gmail settings, remove the Chrome extension on every computer, and remove the WiseStamp add-in from Outlook.
WiseStamp's help center doesn't cover the Outlook side. Remove the add-in from Outlook's add-in manager, or from the Microsoft 365 admin center if IT deployed it for everyone.
- Time
- 5 minutes per machine
- Risk if rushed
- two signatures per email
Roll out to everyone, then delete the account
LastTurn on the new signature in waves, one department at a time, and uninstall WiseStamp at the same pace. Once everyone has moved and the paid period is ending, you can delete the WiseStamp account.
Deleting is permanent. It wipes your signatures and data, and if you ever come back you start from scratch. Only delete after you've checked the backup from step 3.
- Time
- a few days
- Irreversible
- account deletion

What makes a WiseStamp exit go wrong
None of these are technical. They're oversights, and each one costs you either a year of subscription or badly signed emails in front of customers.
Waiting to pick a tool before cancelling
By the time you've compared options, the renewal date has passed and another year is billed, with no refund. Cancelling first doesn't cut anything off: access runs to the end of the paid term.
Deleting instead of cancelling
Cancelling keeps your signatures until the term ends. Deleting wipes them immediately, and there's no export to get them back. Delete last, never first.
Forgetting images hosted by WiseStamp
Your logo and banners often live on WiseStamp's servers. Once the plan ends, they show as broken in emails. Download the originals while the subscription is active.
Leaving the extension on one laptop
One forgotten machine and its emails go out with two signatures, the old one above the new one. Keep a checklist of machines and secondary Gmail accounts and tick them off.
Ignoring phones and the new Outlook
Client-side signatures don't always follow people to mobile or the new Outlook. If half the team writes from phones, go server-side or plan a separate mobile signature.
Lowballing the license count
Minimums (10 users at Exclaimer and CodeTwo, 20 on Signitic's paid plan) and shared mailboxes billed by CodeTwo in cloud mode change the real price. Count first, compare second.
WiseStamp exit FAQ
How do I cancel my WiseStamp subscription?
Log in as the account owner, open your profile, then go to Plan & Billing, Subscriptions and click "Cancel Subscription". Other team members won't see the button. If you pay by PayPal or bank transfer, email support and keep their reply.
Does WiseStamp give refunds?
Only within 14 days of your first purchase. Renewal charges are non-refundable, even if you cancel the next day. Approved refunds take 10 to 14 business days to arrive.
What happens to my signatures after I cancel?
They keep working until the end of the paid period. After that you lose the dashboard and the signatures, but WiseStamp keeps your data. To erase everything you have to delete the account, which is permanent.
How do I remove WiseStamp from Gmail?
First remove WiseStamp's access in your Google account's third-party connections, then delete the signature in Gmail settings, then uninstall the Chrome extension. If you were seeing two signatures, WiseStamp was connected through both the extension and the Google API, and both need to go.
Is there still a free version of WiseStamp?
No. The old free plan is one of the legacy plans no longer sold. Every current plan has a 14-day trial with no card, then Pro+ starts at $9 a month billed yearly. For a free signature, HubSpot's generator or Signitic's free tier (up to 19 users) will do.
Can I export my WiseStamp signatures?
No export is documented. Copy each signature's HTML from Gmail or Outlook settings, screenshot each template, and download your images as original files before the subscription ends.
Can I manage signatures without a tool in Google Workspace or Microsoft 365?
For basic needs, yes. Google Workspace can append the same footer to every outgoing email, but without each person's name or title. Microsoft 365 uses a mail flow rule: it's skipped in plain-text emails, only takes hosted images, stacks up in reply threads and doesn't show in Sent Items.
Why do my emails have two signatures after switching?
Some part of WiseStamp is still active: the Chrome extension on one machine, the signature pasted in Gmail, or the Outlook add-in. With a server-side tool, the new signature gets added on top of the old one. Redo the uninstall step machine by machine.
