Zoho Inventory alternatives: where to go and how to switch
Six destinations, one per reason for leaving, and an eight-step migration plan.
The short answer: inFlow for wholesale and distribution, Odoo for lots and serial numbers without paying, Katana if you manufacture, Cin7 Core if you've outgrown Zoho, Square for Retail if your stock lives in a store, Sortly for equipment you don't sell. Zoho Inventory is still a solid tool at $29 a month, so only leave if one of those reasons fits. And know this upfront: there's no full backup button, you export module by module. We compared all six destinations and their 2026 prices.
The ranking is editorial: a sponsored spot is always labeled on its card, and no affiliate link changes a score.
Why people leave Zoho Inventory, and what gets stuck
Zoho Inventory scores well (4.5 out of 5 on Capterra) and costs little to start. People leave over six specific frictions that keep coming up on Zoho's own forum and in reviews.
The order meter sets your bill
Zoho bills on volume, not SKUs: 50 orders a month on Free, 500 on Standard ($29 a month billed annually), 3,000 on Premium ($79). Invoices and purchase orders have their own caps. A good season forces an upgrade, or blocks of 500 extra orders at $7.50 a month.
Batch and serial tracking cost $79 a month
Batch and serial tracking, barcode generation and stock counts start on Premium, $79 a month billed annually ($99 monthly). If you sell cosmetics or supplements with expiry dates, that's a forced upgrade when Standard covers everything else.
Shopify sync only goes one way
Sellers on Zoho's forum point out that product data in Zoho Inventory can't be pushed to Shopify, so Zoho can't be your product master. A Zoho Authorized Partner also describes paid Shopify orders arriving as uninvoiced sales orders: invoice, payment and package all created by hand, which he calls untenable above about 10 packages a day.
No real manufacturing
Zoho's help center is clear: manufacturing modules aren't supported yet. You get composite items (bundles), but no manufacturing orders and no raw material planning. Makers on the forum say they can't track raw materials inside made-to-order bundles.
Accounting built around Zoho Books
The accounting link is smooth with Zoho Books, and the pricing page lists only Zoho Books and QuickBooks Online as accounting integrations. If your bookkeeper uses Xero or anything else, plan on manual exports or a third-party connector.
Leaving takes work
There's no one-click full backup: you export each module (items, contacts, orders, invoices) to CSV or Excel. Serial and batch numbers only come out with some modules. Automations, templates and channel settings don't export at all: you rebuild them.
You're leaving because… go to…
The right Zoho Inventory alternative depends on what's pushing you out. Usually only one line applies. Each card jumps to the full profile.
Purchasing, receiving and B2B, flat price per plan.

Zoho Inventory alternatives, tool by tool
For each tool: why switch to it, who it's for, its catch, how to migrate from Zoho and what it costs. Prices are from the official pricing pages in 2026, in US dollars.
The tools
inFlow: flat plans for wholesalers and distributors
WholesaleWhy switch to inFlow. Zoho Inventory meters you by orders. inFlow sells you a plan, seats and add-ons, so a busy Q4 doesn't push you into a new tier. It's built around purchasing, receiving and B2B selling, with a mobile scanning app for the warehouse. In user comparisons, reviewers rate it easier to set up and administer than Odoo.
Who it's for. Distributors and wholesalers that receive a lot of stock, sell to other businesses and want a clean interface without a configuration project.
Who it's not for. A small online shop. There's no free plan, and the entry plan costs more than three times Zoho Standard.
The catch. Price. Lite is $129 a month, or $1,188 a year, for a single location. Multiple warehouses need Core at $379 a month. Extra team members are $29 a month each, serial numbers are a $39 add-on and API access another $49.
How to migrate. inFlow doesn't document a Zoho import, so you go through its CSV templates. Start with products and vendors, then quantities per location. Let open purchase orders finish in Zoho instead of recreating them half received.
- Paid
- Lite $129/mo or $1,188/yr
- Multi-warehouse
- Core $379/mo
- Best for
- wholesale, distribution
- Catch
- no free plan, paid add-ons
Odoo: free while inventory is the only app you use
Free, scales upWhy switch to Odoo. Zoho keeps batch and serial tracking for its $79 Premium plan. In Odoo, the Inventory app on its own is free with unlimited users, and it already handles lots, serial numbers, multiple warehouses and cycle counts. If traceability is what's pushing you out, start here.
Who it's for. A growing business that needs real traceability now and expects to add sales, purchasing or manufacturing in the same system later.
Who it's not for. Anyone who wants to be live in an afternoon without help. Small-business reviewers say the same thing again and again: without technical skills, budget for an implementation partner.
The catch. Free means one app. Add Sales or Purchase and every app moves to the paid plan, billed per user. Run that math before you migrate, not after.
How to migrate. Import products first from your Zoho CSV, with columns renamed. Then create one inventory adjustment per location: a file with product, location and counted quantity, which you validate. Our switch from Odoo guide covers what gets stuck when you want out later.
- Free
- one app, unlimited users
- Paid
- Standard $31.10/user/mo from the 2nd app
- Best for
- lots and serials without paying
- Catch
- long setup
Katana: when you make what you sell
ManufacturingWhy switch to Katana. Zoho's own help center says it doesn't support manufacturing modules yet. You can bundle composite items, but there's no real bill of materials, no manufacturing orders and no raw material planning. On the Zoho forum, makers say they can't track raw materials inside made-to-order bundles. Katana is built around exactly that: BOMs, manufacturing orders and true cost of finished goods.
Who it's for. Workshops and product brands (cosmetics, apparel, food) that produce and then sell on Shopify or wholesale.
Who it's not for. A pure reseller. You'd pay for production planning you never use.
The catch. The free plan stops at 30 SKUs. Beyond that, Advantage is custom priced after a scoping call, so there's no public number to compare.
How to migrate. Katana's assisted import reads your Zoho CSV as is and suggests a field for each column. Two limits: 5,000 rows per import and no more than 4 variant options per product. Products first, stock levels second. Then rebuild your Zoho bundles as real BOMs. Our page on inventory software with bills of materials compares the other options.
- Free
- 30 SKUs, unlimited users
- Paid
- Advantage, custom quote
- Best for
- makers, product brands
- Catch
- no public price beyond free
Cin7 Core: when you outgrow Zoho
High volumeWhy switch to Cin7 Core. Past 15,000 orders a month, Zoho has nothing above Enterprise except add-ons. Cin7 Core targets brands selling across channels, wholesale and warehouse, with light manufacturing in the same tool. You pick it for depth, not for price.
Who it's for. A growing multichannel brand with an operations team and thousands of orders a month.
Who it's not for. A small business leaving Zoho because of cost. Cin7 starts at roughly twelve times Zoho Standard.
The catch. Standard is $349 a month for 5 users, 6,000 orders a year and 2 integrations. Pro is $599 and Advanced $1,199. Forum users also complain about yearly price increases for existing customers.
How to migrate. Cin7 sells onboarding help. Prepare your Zoho exports yourself anyway (products, customers, vendors, stock per location): it's the best way to keep control of the timeline.
- Paid
- Standard $349/mo
- Included
- 5 users, 6,000 orders/yr
- Best for
- growing multichannel brand
- Catch
- price, yearly increases
Square for Retail: if your stock lives in a store
Retail POSWhy switch to Square. Plenty of Zoho Inventory accounts belong to physical stores that bolted a POS on the side. If you already take payments with Square, its inventory comes with the point of sale: catalog, low-stock alerts and sales in one place, with no sync to babysit.
Who it's for. Shops, boutiques and multi-location retailers where most sales happen at the counter.
Who it's not for. A wholesaler or an online brand selling on Amazon: Square is built around the register, not B2B orders.
The catch. Basic inventory is free with Square POS, but transfers between locations, vendor purchase orders and barcode tools need Plus at $49 a month per location, or Premium at $149.
How to migrate. Export your Zoho items, fill in Square's item import spreadsheet with names, SKUs, prices and quantities, then import it. Print new barcode labels from Square if your SKUs change.
- Free
- basic inventory with Square POS
- Paid
- Plus $49/mo per location
- Best for
- brick-and-mortar retail
- Catch
- weak for B2B and marketplaces
Sortly: tracking equipment, not sales
SimplestWhy switch to Sortly. Many Zoho Inventory accounts only answer one question: what do we have, and where? Tools, equipment, spare parts, no customer orders. Zoho is overkill for that. Sortly runs on your phone: a photo, a QR label, a location, done.
Who it's for. Contractors, IT teams, nonprofits and workshops tracking equipment and supplies.
Who it's not for. Anyone who sells. No sales orders, no invoices, no store sync.
The catch. Free stops at 100 items. Advanced is $49 a month, or $288 for the first year on annual billing. That 50% discount is a first-year deal: renewal costs noticeably more.
How to migrate. Export your Zoho items, keep name, quantity, location and photo, then import into Sortly. Print and stick the QR labels: that's where the daily time savings come from.
- Free
- 100 items
- Paid
- Advanced $49/mo
- Best for
- equipment, tools
- Catch
- no sales features
The 6 alternatives side by side
Our default picks: inFlow if you're a wholesaler, Odoo if traceability is the issue. For scale, take 800 orders a month and 3 users. Zoho Standard plus one 500-order block costs $36.50 a month billed annually. inFlow Lite starts at $99 a month billed annually, before extra seats. Zoho stays the cheapest as long as you need neither lots nor manufacturing.
| Free plan | Entry paid plan and migration | |
|---|---|---|
| Zoho InventoryWhere you start | 50 orders a month, 1 user, 1 location | Standard $29/mo billed annually (500 orders, 3 users); lots and serials on Premium, $79 |
| inFlowWholesale | No free plan, trial | Lite $129/mo or $1,188/yr; CSV import templates |
| OdooTraceability | One app, unlimited users | Standard $31.10 per user per month in year one ($38.90 after) from the 2nd app; stock via inventory adjustment |
| KatanaManufacturing | 30 SKUs, unlimited users | Advantage on quote; assisted import, 5,000 rows per file |
| Cin7 CoreHigh volume | No free plan | Standard $349/mo (6,000 orders a year); guided onboarding |
| Square for RetailRetail | Basic inventory with Square POS | Plus $49/mo per location; spreadsheet import |
| SortlyEquipment | 100 items | Advanced $49/mo ($288 first year billed annually); file import |
Entry prices before tax, subject to change. Always run the numbers on your real order volume and seat count.
Migrate from Zoho Inventory in eight steps
Order matters. Each step protects something: your SKUs, your real stock, your online sales, your history.
The steps
List everything Zoho does for you
Week 1Write down every connected channel (Shopify, Amazon, eBay, Etsy), your accounting link (Zoho Books or QuickBooks Online), locations, composite items, invoice templates and automations. Note your real monthly volume too: orders, invoices and purchase orders.
Those numbers pick the destination. A tool that bills per order costs very different amounts at 300 and 3,000 sales a month.
- Time
- half a day
- Risk if rushed
- a forgotten channel
Pick a quiet cutover date
PlanningChoose a month end outside peak season: no cutover during Black Friday or the holidays. Tell the warehouse team and set the hour after which nobody enters orders manually in Zoho.
- Best
- early month, off season
Export module by module, period "All"
DataZoho Inventory has no one-click full backup. In each module, open the menu, choose Export, period "All", CSV or XLSX. Don't pick an export template: without one, every field comes out.
Suggested order: items and item groups, customers, vendors, open sales orders, open purchase orders, this year's invoices. Serial and batch numbers only export with some modules (items, invoices, adjustments, transfers), so check them in the file.
- Formats
- CSV, XLS, XLSX
- Trap
- incomplete serials and lots
Clean your SKUs before importing
QualityA duplicate or blank SKU breaks everything: Katana skips rows whose SKU already exists, and store syncs match on SKU. Delete dead items, standardize units (each, case, pound) and strip trailing spaces from SKUs.
- Key
- one unique SKU per item
Import products, then stock
DataProducts first, quantities second: most tools reject stock on an item that doesn't exist yet. In Odoo, quantities go through an inventory adjustment per location. In Katana, through a separate stock import, 5,000 rows max per file.
Run a first import on ten items. Check prices, taxes and units, then import the rest.
- Order
- items, contacts, stock
Count real stock on cutover day
Cutover dayZoho's stock is never quite what's on the shelf. Use the cutover to count, at least the 20% of SKUs that drive most of your sales, and import those counted quantities instead of Zoho's.
- Minimum
- your best sellers
Turn off Zoho's sync before connecting the new one
Cutover dayThis is the expensive mistake: two tools linked to the same store deduct the same order twice, and Shopify shows a stockout that isn't real. Disable the integration in Zoho, then connect the new tool. Place a test order and check stock on both sides.
- Test
- one real order end to end
Keep Zoho read-only for a month, then cancel
Month 1Drop Zoho to the free plan instead of closing it right away: you keep the history for returns and your accountant's questions. Run one last full export before closing for good.
- Keep
- one month minimum

What makes a Zoho Inventory migration fail
The same mistakes show up in every inventory switch. None of them is technical: they're oversights, and each one costs sales.
Two tools on the same store
If Zoho and the new tool both stay connected to Shopify or Amazon, every sale gets deducted twice. You show stockouts and lose orders. One active sync, always.
Importing theoretical stock
Copying Zoho's quantities without counting carries its errors into the new tool. Count at least your best sellers on cutover day.
Recreating half-received orders
A purchase order that's half received rebuilds badly elsewhere. Let open POs finish in Zoho, and open new ones only in the new tool.
Forgetting bundles
Zoho's composite items don't export as bills of materials. List them and rebuild them by hand, or selling a bundle stops deducting its components.
Closing the account too soon
Keep Zoho on the free plan for a month after cutover. You'll need the history for returns and your accountant, and a closed account can't be exported.
Comparing prices without comparing meters
Zoho counts orders per month, Cin7 per year, inFlow charges for add-ons, Square per location. Compare on your real volume. Our rankings of inventory management software and ecommerce inventory tools go further. Leaving the CRM too? See switch from Zoho CRM.
- Channels, accounting, locations and bundles listed
- Cutover date set outside peak season
- Every module exported to CSV or XLSX, period "All"
- Unique SKUs and standardized units
- Products imported before stock
- Stock counted on cutover day
- Zoho sync turned off before the new one, test order placed
- Bundles rebuilt and checked
- Zoho kept on the free plan for a month
Zoho Inventory alternatives: FAQ
What is the best free alternative to Zoho Inventory?
Odoo, if inventory is the only app you use: it's free with unlimited users, lots and serials included. Katana is free up to 30 SKUs, Sortly up to 100 items but with no sales features. Square's basic inventory is free if you already use Square POS. Zoho's own free plan stops at 50 orders a month and one user. Our small business inventory software ranking compares them all.
Is there a cheaper alternative to Zoho Inventory?
For a business that sells, rarely. Zoho Standard at $29 a month billed annually, with 500 orders and 3 users, is among the cheapest paid plans on this page. The cheaper routes are free ones with limits: Odoo with the Inventory app only, Square if you already use its POS, Katana under 30 SKUs. Leaving QuickBooks too? See switch from QuickBooks.
How do I export all my data from Zoho Inventory?
Module by module. In each one: menu, Export, period "All", CSV or XLSX, no export template so you get every field. There's no one-click full backup, so export before your subscription ends, not after.
What happens when I go over my Zoho order limit?
Each plan caps orders per month, with separate caps for invoices and purchase orders. Instead of upgrading, you can buy blocks of 500 extra orders at $7.50 a month on annual billing. At 800 orders a month, Standard plus one block costs $36.50, versus $79 for Premium.
Does Zoho Inventory handle manufacturing?
Not in the production-planning sense. Zoho's help center says manufacturing modules aren't supported: you get composite items (bundles), but no manufacturing orders or material requirements. Look at Katana, or our ranking of inventory software for manufacturers.
How long does a migration from Zoho Inventory take?
Moving the data itself fits in a day. The time goes into preparation (audit, export, SKU cleanup) and the month of checks after cutover. With Odoo or Cin7, setting up the new tool usually takes longer than moving the data.
Which Zoho Inventory alternative works best with Shopify?
It depends on what you do between the order and the parcel. Katana if you produce, Cin7 Core for high volume across several channels, inFlow for wholesale next to a Shopify store. Our ecommerce inventory software ranking goes channel by channel.
