Claude AllTrails connectorWhat Claude can do in your AllTrails account.
The Claude AllTrails connector exposes 5 tools. All 5 read trail data, 0 write anything, 0 are undocumented. Below: how Claude finds a hike, what it can tell you about it, what it never touches, and who decides whether it is switched on.

What changes when you plan a hike with Claude
Instead of switching between a map, a trail app and a weather site, you describe the outing you have in mind and Claude does the looking. It searches the AllTrails catalogue of more than 500,000 trails, opens the ones worth a closer look and checks what the sky is doing at the trailhead, all inside the same reply.
A shortlist for a free Saturday. You are staying near a town you barely know: find_trails_near_location pulls the routes around it, and Claude narrows them down to the ones that fit your group.
A go or no-go on the weekend. Before you commit to a ridge walk, get_trail_weather_overview returns the upcoming forecast at the trailhead, so the decision happens before the drive, not at the car park.
The facts on a trail someone mentioned. A friend names a route at dinner: search_trails_by_name finds it, then get_trail_details brings back its description, rating and difficulty.
What Claude will not do here: by default the directory sheet only exposes reading, so nothing in this list saves a trail, logs a hike or posts a review for you. AllTrails also says that it does not collect or store your AllTrails account data through this link. And the connector never acts on its own: no tool wakes up because the forecast changes. For that kind of background job you would need an automation tool, which is a different trade; the Integrations hub gathers that side of things.
Five words before you start
The vocabulary you will meet when you plug AllTrails into Claude.
- Connector
- The link you set up once between Claude and a service you already use, so Claude can work with it while it answers you.
- Tool
- One named capability a connector gives Claude. Claude picks the ones it needs by itself; the directory sheet lists each by name.
- Authorization
- The service's own sign-in screen, where you grant the access Claude will use. Given once, per person, and withdrawn the same way.
- Approval
- The confirmation Claude waits for before going ahead with something that changes an account, shown in the chat when it matters.
- MCP
- The shared standard connectors are built on: it is what lets an assistant like Claude talk to an outside service such as AllTrails.
Connect AllTrails to Claude in three steps
- 01
Find AllTrails in your settings
Open Claude's settings, go to Customize, then Connectors, and look for AllTrails in the list. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, an Owner or Primary Owner has to enable it before members can connect.
- 02
Start the connection
Click Connect on its row and follow the window the service opens. If the link ever breaks, use Disconnect and plug it back in; access can also be withdrawn from the service side.
- 03
Read the authorization screen
Check the authorization screen before you accept. It belongs to the service, not to Claude, and it is the service that decides what the access covers. Once accepted, just ask Claude about a trail.
The 5 AllTrails tools, by what they do
AllTrails gives Claude 5 tools: 5 that read your account, 0 that change something in it.
Every tool on this sheet reads. Names stay exactly as Claude shows them, in English.

What Claude reads (5)
5 toolsFive tools that look up trails and conditions without changing anything.
find_trails_near_location
Starting from a town, a park or a region you name, Claude pulls the trails located around it and lists them so you can compare before choosing.
get_trail_weather_overview
For a trail you have already picked, this returns the coming forecast at its trailhead, so Claude can tell you whether the conditions suit the outing you planned.
find_trails_within_bounds
Rather than a single point, this one works on a delimited area and returns the trails that fall inside it, which suits a zone you are studying on a map.
search_trails_by_name
When you already know what the route is called, Claude looks it up by that name and comes back with the matching trail instead of a list of everything nearby.
get_trail_details
Opens the full sheet of one trail: its description, its rating, its difficulty and more, which Claude then summarises or compares with others in the conversation.
What Claude asks before acting
By default, Claude stops and asks you to confirm before any action it carries out on an account on your behalf. Every AllTrails tool listed here only reads, and no source says whether a confirmation shows up for them.
On a Team or Enterprise workspace, owners decide whether members may let certain actions through without being asked each time. They can also restrict what a connector is allowed to do across the whole organisation, for example keeping reading open while closing anything that writes. Nobody overrides that setting from their own account. Claude also works with the rights of the person who connected and nothing beyond them: what you cannot reach yourself, it cannot reach either.
Which plans include it
None of the 819 sheets in the official directory shows plan availability. That answer, connector by connector, is published nowhere: it is a real gap in the catalogue.
The general rule is public: remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner or Primary Owner enables the connector for the organisation before members can connect. For the current state, the AllTrails sheet in the official directory is the place to check.
Where this connector stops
A connector is not an automation. Claude calls these tools while it answers you: nothing starts by itself when a forecast turns or a new trail is published.
A tool list that only reads is an observed floor, not a guarantee: an administrator can open actions that appear on no public sheet. The directory's verification badge is not a security audit either, and Anthropic says on every sheet that it does not choose which tools a publisher exposes. Everything on this page comes from AllTrails' own help article and the directory sheet; no Claude help page covers this connector. If you want to compare with a connector that does write, the Claude activecampaign connector page shows the other side.
