Overview

What changes once Claude can search Bloomberg Law dockets

Docket research usually means a search screen, a results list, a docket page, then a filing to open. With the connector, a litigator or paralegal asks Claude in plain words, for example about antitrust cases filed against a company last quarter, and Claude picks the right Bloomberg Law tool, reads the docket and answers from what the docket actually says.

Find the case, then the whole picture. BLAW__docket_search takes a natural-language query across courts, parties and keywords, and BLAW__docket_get_metadata returns court, parties, attorneys and case details for the docket you pick.

Read what was filed. BLAW__docket_get_entries lists entries, and BLAW__docket_get_filing brings a filing's PDF content into the chat so Claude can work from the actual document.

Keep watching a matter. Alerts and tracks are set in two steps: a preview tool shows eligibility and cost, then an execute tool creates the subscription once you confirm. Bloomberg Law then does the watching on its side.

What it will not do: Bloomberg Law says case law research, judge analytics and broader litigation analytics stay in its own products, and any summary or chart Claude writes is Claude's work, not validated by Bloomberg Law. Nothing runs on its own either. The Integrations hub covers the other platform families.

Vocabulary

Five words before you start

The Claude terms this page uses, each defined once.

Connector
A link set up once between Claude and an account you already hold, so Claude can work in it while it answers you.
Tool
One named action a connector gives Claude. Claude chooses the right one itself; the directory sheet lists each tool by name.
Authorization
The Bloomberg Law sign-in screen where you grant Claude the access it will use. Given once per person, and it can be withdrawn.
Approval
The confirmation Claude waits for before an action that changes your account, displayed in the chat at the moment it counts.
MCP
The shared standard behind connectors: it is what lets an assistant like Claude talk to an outside service such as Bloomberg Law.
Connect

Connect Bloomberg Law to Claude in three steps

  1. 01

    Find Bloomberg Law in Claude

Open Claude's settings, then Customize and Connectors, and look for Bloomberg Law. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, an Owner or Primary Owner enables the connector before members can each authenticate.

  2. 02

    Sign in to Bloomberg Law

Click Connect on its row and sign in with your Bloomberg Law account in the window Bloomberg opens. If the link breaks later, Disconnect and connect again; access can also be removed from the Bloomberg Law side.

  3. 03

    Read the authorization

Read the authorization screen before you accept it. It is Bloomberg Law's screen, not Claude's, and it decides what the access covers from that moment on.

Approvals

What Claude asks before it acts

By default, Claude stops and asks before each action it carries out on an account for someone. Bloomberg Law adds its own preview step on top.

For alerts, tracks, filing requests and docket updates, Bloomberg Law says Claude first previews the request with its eligibility and any cost, then needs your confirmation before executing it. On Team and Enterprise workspaces, owners decide whether members may let certain actions pass without a prompt each time, and they can cap what a connector may do for the whole organization; no one overrides that from their own account. Claude also works only with your subscription and permissions.

Plans

Which plans include Bloomberg Law

No official source publishes plan availability connector by connector: 0 of the 819 directory sheets shows it, and that gap is real.

The general rule is what is published. Remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile; desktop extensions install on Claude Desktop. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner or Primary Owner opens a connector for the organization before members connect. The Bloomberg Law sheet in the official directory shows its current state. Only Bloomberg Law documents this connector; no Claude help page covers it.

Limits

Where the Bloomberg Law connector stops

A connector is not an automation. Claude calls these tools while it answers you; the alerts and tracks you create are then run by Bloomberg Law, not by Claude.

The tool list is an observed floor, not a promise: an administrator can open actions no public sheet shows. The partner badge is not a security audit, and Anthropic writes on every sheet that it neither picks a publisher's tools nor guarantees their behavior. Connect what comes from a publisher you trust. Bloomberg Law also states that you only reach the content your subscription covers. For a connector with a very different scope, see the Claude affinity connector.

FAQ

Questions about the Claude Bloomberg Law connector

01What can Claude do with the Bloomberg Law connector?
Claude can search federal and state dockets, read docket details, entries and filings, and keep an eye on matters for you. Of its 17 tools, 13 read: search, metadata, entries, filing content, PDF downloads, outcome predictions for eligible federal civil cases, cost checks and previews. The other 4 create alerts and tracks, request filings from PACER or update dockets, each after a preview. Bloomberg Law documents every one of them.
02Can Claude create alerts or order filings in Bloomberg Law?
Yes, four tools change things on your account. One turns a previewed search alert into a subscription, one creates a docket track, one requests a filing Bloomberg Law does not hold from PACER, and one updates one or more dockets. Bloomberg Law pairs each with a preview that shows eligibility and any cost. Nothing in the documentation says Claude can delete an alert or a track, or edit a docket's content.
03Does Claude ask before creating an alert or a track?
Yes. Bloomberg Law states that for alerts, tracks, filing requests and docket updates, Claude shows a preview of the request, with its eligibility and any cost, and waits for you to confirm before it goes through. That sits on top of Claude's default rule of asking before each action on an account. In an organization workspace, owners can also restrict which actions members may take through the connector. Read the preview carefully: it is the moment to catch a wrong docket or an unexpected cost.
04Which Claude plans include the Bloomberg Law connector?
No official source publishes plan availability for one connector, and none of the 819 directory sheets lists it. The general rule says remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile, with an Owner or Primary Owner enabling them first on Team and Enterprise. On the Bloomberg Law side, an active subscription with connector access is required. The directory sheet shows the current state; if unsure about your Bloomberg Law access, ask its administrator or your account representative.
05Does Claude see more than my Bloomberg Law subscription allows?
No. Bloomberg Law says users can only access the content available through their subscription. Claude works with the rights of the person who connected, so a docket or filing you are not entitled to stays out of reach. On the Claude side, a workspace owner can narrow what the connector may do for the whole organization. Ask your Bloomberg Law administrator if something you expect seems missing. Your subscription stays the ceiling, with or without Claude.
06Can Claude do case law research through Bloomberg Law?
Not through this connector. Bloomberg Law lists case law research and other non-docket legal research among the things to do directly in its own research tools, along with judge analytics and broader litigation or company intelligence. The connector focuses on dockets: search, retrieval, filings, monitoring and outcome prediction for eligible cases. For those needs, open Bloomberg Law directly rather than asking Claude. All 17 tools deal with dockets, their entries, filings and costs.
07Claude or an automation tool for Bloomberg Law?
They answer different needs, so the choice follows the task rather than a ranking. Claude fits investigative work in conversation: find a case, read its filings, ask follow-up questions on the same matter. Ongoing monitoring is better left to the alerts and tracks Bloomberg Law runs once you create them. An automation tool that chains steps without anyone present is a third, separate job. Claude only acts while it answers you, so nothing starts on its own.
