Overview

What GovTribe brings to Claude

GovTribe pulls together US government buying: federal, state and local solicitations, contract awards, grants and the vendors behind them. Connected to Claude, it becomes a dataset you query in plain English. Ask who won an agency's last few cloud migration contracts, and Claude runs the right searches and hands back a summary, a table or a chart.

Spot bids worth chasing. Search_Federal_Contract_Opportunities and Search_State_And_Local_Contract_Opportunities surface open solicitations with deadlines, attachments and buyer contacts, and Claude narrows them by topic or agency.

Size up the competition. Search_Federal_Contract_Awards and Search_Vendors show who wins what, for how much and with which certifications, which is exactly what you need before a capture meeting.

Get ahead of the cycle. Search_Federal_Forecasts reads agencies' planned purchases, and Search_Federal_Grant_Opportunities lists open grants with their eligibility rules.

What Claude does not do here: by default, the directory sheet only exposes searches. No listed tool sets up pipelines, pursuits or tasks in your GovTribe workspace, even though GovTribe documents tools like that elsewhere. Read that as an observed floor, not a guarantee. And nothing runs on its own: no alert reaches Claude when a new solicitation drops. That kind of hands-off monitoring is an automation tool's job, a different trade; the Integrations hub covers that side. For a connector that feeds a marketing CRM instead, see the Claude activecampaign connector.

Vocabulary

Key terms first

Five words and the rest of the page reads cleanly.

Connector
The link you set up once between Claude and your GovTribe account, so Claude can use it while it answers you.
Tool
One named search the connector opens to Claude. Claude decides which one to run, and the directory sheet lists every tool by name.
Authorization
GovTribe's own sign-in screen, where you grant Claude the access it will use later. Given once per person and revoked the same way.
Approval
The confirmation Claude waits for before it carries out an action that would change your account, shown in the chat at that moment.
MCP
The shared standard connectors are built on, which is what lets an assistant like Claude talk to an outside service such as GovTribe.
Connect

Connect GovTribe to Claude

  1. 01

    Find GovTribe in your settings

In Claude's settings, open Customize, then Connectors, and locate GovTribe. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, an Owner or Primary Owner has to enable the connector for the organization first; each member then connects on their own.

  2. 02

    Sign in to GovTribe

Click Connect on the GovTribe row and sign in through the window GovTribe opens itself. Once you allow access, GovTribe moves into your list of connected connectors.

  3. 03

    Review the authorization screen

Read the authorization screen before you accept: it belongs to GovTribe and it sets what the access covers. To cut it later, use Disconnect in the connector list or revoke access from GovTribe.

it explains GovTribe, not procurement rules in general.

award data looks backward, not forward.

Search_Federal_Contract_IDVs

Explores federal IDVs, the umbrella contracts agencies order against, with their ceilings, holders and the task orders that followed.

When it helps

a high ceiling says nothing about how much has actually been ordered.

Search_Federal_Contract_Sub_Awards

Opens up federal subcontracting: amounts, the prime contractor, its subs and the agency involved.

When it helps
you want a subcontracting slot and need to know who a large prime already works with.

treat a prime's list of subs as a lead, and confirm the relationship with the companies themselves.

Search_Federal_Contract_Vehicles

Reviews federal contract vehicles, with their scope, ordering windows and the program each belongs to.

When it helps

Search_Federal_Grant_Awards

Traces federal grants already paid out: amounts, recipients and details on the program behind them.

When it helps
you are drafting an application and want to see which organizations this program funded in recent years.

Search_Federal_Grant_Sub_Awards

Follows grant money one level down: pass-through amounts, the prime recipient and its subrecipients.

When it helps

Covers the federal grant programs themselves, with their ALN identifier, description and the opportunities tied to them.

Search_Federal_Forecasts

Search_Federal_Transactions

Drills down to transaction lines on federal contracts: amounts, agencies and vendors, line by line.

When it helps

Search_Federal_Agencies

Looks up federal agency records with identifiers, classifications and web addresses. Useful for clearing up a name before another search.

When it helps
two sub-agencies have near-identical names and you need the right identifier.
Watch out
the record describes the agency, not what it buys.

Sourcegovtribe.com · September 30, 2026 ↗

Search_State_And_Local_Contract_Opportunities

Extends your watch to states and municipalities: open solicitations with schedules, contacts and category tags.

When it helps
an engineering firm wants urban planning bids open in three neighboring states.
Watch out
how to respond is set out in the solicitation files; Claude summarizes them, it does not submit anything.

Sourcegovtribe.com · September 30, 2026 ↗

Search_State_And_Local_Contract_Awards

Shows contracts awarded by states and local governments, with their value, the winner and supporting material.

When it helps
you want to know what a city paid last year for software similar to yours.

Search_State_And_Local_Contract_IDVs

Scans state and local umbrella contracts, with their terms, holders and related awards.

When it helps

Covers major defense programs: program codes, acquisition data and the awards connected to them.

When it helps

Search_Vendors

When it helps

Search_Contacts

Approvals

What Claude checks with you first

By default, Claude stops and asks before any action it takes on an account on your behalf. Here, all 24 exposed tools just search.

On a Team or Enterprise workspace, owners decide whether members can let some actions through without being asked again. They can also cap what a connector does for the whole organization, and that setting applies to everyone. According to GovTribe, once the connector is linked, Claude shows a three-way setting for each tool: run automatically, ask for approval, or block. Claude also works with your GovTribe account's permissions and nothing more.

Plans

Which Claude plans include GovTribe

None of the 819 directory sheets lists plan availability. Connector by connector, that information is not published anywhere.

The general rule is public: remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner or Primary Owner enables the connector for the organization before members connect. For GovTribe's current status on your account, check its sheet in the official directory. Your GovTribe subscription and credits are handled on GovTribe's side.

Limits

Where the GovTribe connector stops

A connector is not an automation. Claude runs these searches while it answers you, and no monitoring happens in the background.

Only the publisher documents this connector: neither Claude's help center nor Anthropic's developer docs have a page on it, and the limits below come from GovTribe's help content. The tool list is an observed floor, since an admin can open actions no public sheet shows. The partner badge is not a security audit, and Anthropic says on every sheet that it does not choose a publisher's tools or vouch for how they behave. GovTribe in fact documents far more tools than the 24 on the sheet.

FAQ

Claude GovTribe connector FAQ

01What can Claude do with the GovTribe connector?
Claude can query GovTribe's US public contracting data while it answers you. Its 24 tools search federal, state and local solicitations, awarded contracts and their subcontracting, umbrella contracts, grants and grant programs, acquisition forecasts, vendors, contacts, public documents and procurement news. You can, for example, ask it to summarize a competitor's federal activity or compare agencies, and get the result back as a table, a chart or a short written summary.
02Can Claude create or change anything in GovTribe?
Not with the listed tools: by default, the connector sheet only exposes read-only searches. Claude reads public data and GovTribe's documentation, but none of the 24 tools sets up a pipeline, a pursuit or a task in your workspace. GovTribe does document tools like that elsewhere, which shows the sheet is an observed floor rather than a guarantee. An admin can always open actions that no public sheet lists. If you need those records, you still work in GovTribe itself.
03Does Claude ask before using GovTribe?
By default, Claude asks before any action it takes on an account on your behalf, and no source describes a rule specific to a GovTribe search. According to GovTribe, Claude also shows a setting for each tool that lets you allow it outright, require approval or block it. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, owners can further restrict what the connector does across the whole organization, and members cannot override that.
04Which Claude plans is the GovTribe connector available on?
No official source publishes plan availability connector by connector, and none of the 819 directory sheets shows it. The general rule is that remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile, with an Owner enabling the connector first on Team and Enterprise. On GovTribe's side, you also need a compatible subscription and credits switched on. The directory sheet stays the up-to-date reference for your account.
05Does Claude see everything in my GovTribe account?
Claude works with the permissions of the GovTribe account you connected, and nothing more. Public contracting data is available to that account, but records from your own workspace only appear if your account has access to them. With the 24 tools on the sheet, Claude also stays limited to searching. On the Claude side, an owner of a Team or Enterprise workspace can restrict the connector further for everyone. Pick the GovTribe account you authorize with that in mind.
06Why did a GovTribe search suddenly stop working?
Credits are the first thing to check. According to GovTribe, most of its tools are billed in credits, so if credits are turned off, billed searches stop answering even though the connector stays linked. Tools exempt from billing may keep working. A GovTribe Account Owner or Administrator is the person who can switch credits back on, from the Credits page. New tools announced by GovTribe may also require a refresh.
07Claude or an automation tool for working with GovTribe?
They do different jobs, so it depends on the use. Claude is for exploring: ask a precise question about a market, a competitor or an agency and get a synthesis in the conversation. An automation tool chains steps without you, for instance every time a new solicitation is posted. The connector never starts anything on its own, so automated monitoring suits an automation tool better, while Claude handles on-demand analysis.
