Overview

What a chat-built B12 website gives you, and what it does not

You give Claude two things, the name of your project and a sentence or two on what the site is for, and B12 produces a first version of the website. Claude shows you a static preview image in the conversation along with a link. That link is where the real work continues: on B12, outside the chat, you claim the site, adjust it and publish it.

A draft to react to. You give a project name and its goals, and generate_website returns a preview plus a link to the generated site, so there is something concrete to look at instead of a blank page.

Two directions, side by side. B12 states that calling the tool again creates a separate, additional website. Ask twice with two different descriptions and you get two distinct drafts to compare, each with its own link.

A head start without a B12 login. According to B12's help center, you can connect and generate a site without an existing B12 account. The account question comes later, when you open the link to claim the site.

What it will not do: change a site after the fact. The tool only creates. B12 says its websites can only be edited online with the b12.io software, so every tweak, page or wording change happens there, not in Claude. Nothing runs on its own either: Claude calls the tool while it answers you, never on a schedule. For recurring, unattended jobs, look at the automation platforms on the Integrations hub; other connectors are listed on the Claude integrations page.

Vocabulary

Five terms before you connect B12

The Claude vocabulary used on this page, in one minute.

Connector
The link you set up once between Claude and an outside service, here B12's site builder, so Claude can call on it mid-reply.
Tool
One named thing a connector lets Claude do. This one has a single tool, generate_website, which Claude calls on its own.
Authorization
The sign-in screen of a service, where you hand Claude the access it uses afterwards. Granted once per person, and revocable.
Approval
The confirmation Claude waits for before an action that changes something on your behalf, shown in the chat when it matters.
MCP
The open standard connectors run on, which lets an assistant like Claude exchange requests with an outside service such as B12.
Connect

Connect Website Generator by B12 in three steps

  1. 01

    Find the connector

Open Claude's settings, go to Customize then Connectors, and search for Website Generator by B12. If your Claude account belongs to a Team or Enterprise organization, an Owner or Primary Owner has to enable the connector there first.

  2. 02

    Add it to Claude

Click Connect on its row. B12 documents no sign-in step of its own for generating a site: its help center says you can generate one without an existing B12 account. If a screen does ask for access, read it before you accept.

  3. 03

Switch it on in the chat

B12 asks you to check that the connector is toggled on for the conversation you are in, not only added to your account. If it misbehaves later, use Disconnect and connect it again.

Tools

The single Website Generator by B12 tool

Website Generator by B12 gives Claude 1 tool: 0 that read your account, 1 that change something in it.

A single tool, on the writing side: every run creates a fresh site. B12 describes it in the tool list its own server shares, and Claude displays its name unchanged.

What Claude creates (1)

1 tool

generate_website builds a new B12 site on each call. B12 documents no confirmation of its own for it, so the approval section further down is what governs it.

generate_website

Approval: see the rule

Turns a project name and a few words on the site's purpose into a website, then returns a static preview image plus a link to claim and edit the site outside the conversation. B12 hosts the result, and each new call yields a separate, additional site.

Approvals

What Claude asks before it generates a site

Unless told otherwise, Claude pauses for your OK every time it is about to act on an account for you, and that request shows up right in the chat.

Inside a Team or Enterprise organization, it is the owners who choose whether people may skip the repeated prompt for some actions. Owners can likewise narrow this connector for every member at once, and that setting cannot be bypassed from a personal account. Whatever happens, Claude stays inside the reach of whoever connected it. On B12's side, its help center says B12 itself takes care of creating and hosting the site once the request arrives.

Plans

Which Claude plans include it

Across the official directory, 819 sheets and not one lists plan availability. For this connector as for the rest, no source states it: the catalogue simply leaves that hole.

The rule Anthropic does publish is general. Remote connectors can be used by anyone on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and the mobile apps. Team and Enterprise organizations add one step: an Owner or Primary Owner turns the connector on, and only then can members link it. To see where this one stands for you, open its sheet in the official directory. Also note that B12 is the only party documenting it.

Limits

Where Website Generator by B12 stops

This connector automates nothing. The tool only runs inside one of Claude's replies, so no site gets generated in the background or on a timer.

Treat the tool list as what was observed, not as a ceiling: administrators can enable actions that never appear on a public sheet. A verification badge does not mean a security review took place, and Anthropic states on each sheet that publishers choose their own tools and that it does not vouch for how they behave. Plug in only connectors whose publisher you trust, which here means B12 itself. Claude's help center has no article on this connector.

FAQ

Questions about the Claude Website Generator by B12 connector

01What does the Website Generator by B12 connector let Claude do?
Claude can generate a new website through B12 from a project name and a short description of what the site is for. Its single tool, generate_website, returns a static preview image of the result and a link to claim and edit the site outside the conversation. B12 hosts the site. The connector exposes nothing else: no tool to list, read or change an existing B12 site. B12 publishes this description in the tool list of its own server.
02Can Claude edit or delete a site it generated with B12?
No, the connector only creates. B12 states that its websites can only be edited online using the b12.io software suite, so every change happens on B12 after you open the link Claude returns. The connector has no delete tool and no edit tool. Running generate_website again does not modify the earlier draft either: according to B12, it creates a separate, additional website each time, which you then manage on B12.
03Will Claude check with me before creating a B12 site?
By default, yes. Before an action that changes something on an account in your name, Claude waits for your confirmation. B12 says nothing about a confirmation specific to generate_website, so this default is what you can count on. Organization owners on Team and Enterprise set whether that prompt can be skipped for certain actions and may restrict the connector across the whole organization. Since each run adds one more site, B12 leaves you with every draft to sort out.
04Which Claude plans include Website Generator by B12?
Nobody publishes that, connector by connector: no official source does, and the 819 directory sheets show no plan at all. Anthropic's general rule is that remote connectors work for anyone on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and the mobile apps, with an Owner or Primary Owner enabling them first in Team and Enterprise organizations. B12's help article for this connector names no Claude plan of its own. The connector's directory sheet is the place to check for your own account.
05Does Claude get access to my B12 account?
Not as far as the sources go. B12 says you can connect to its server and generate a site without an existing B12 account, and the only tool creates a new site rather than reading anything you already have. The link Claude returns is where you claim the site on B12. More broadly, Claude never reaches more than the person who connected it can reach, and in organization workspaces owners can restrict the connector for everyone.
06Why doesn't Claude build my site with the B12 connector?
B12 suggests checking the toggle in the conversation. A connector added to your account still has to be turned on for the specific chat you are using. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, B12 also asks you to confirm that an Owner has added the connector at the organization level first. After that, disconnect and reconnect the connector in Claude, then try again with a project name and a description.
07Claude or an automation platform for building B12 sites?
They cover different needs, so neither wins. Claude with this connector suits a one-off, conversational request: you describe a project and get a draft site and a link right away. An automation platform runs scenarios on its own when an event occurs, with nobody asking. B12's own documentation for this connector covers generating sites on request from an assistant; it does not describe triggering site creation from other events, which is the kind of job automation tools are built for.
