What can the Placetel Make integration do for you?

The Placetel Make integration links your Placetel phone system to Make, a tool where you build a scenario: an automation made of modules, each module being one brick such as a trigger, an action or a search. Placetel events like a new call or an incoming fax can start that chain, and other apps can push data back into Placetel.

A caller history that fills itself. Watch Hung-Up Call fires once a call ends. Add Get a Call to pull its details, then send them to your CRM or a spreadsheet, and nobody types call notes by hand anymore.

Leads that turn into contacts and calls. When a form in another app captures a lead, Create a Contact files the person in Placetel and Initiate a Call starts the conversation. Update a Contact keeps the record current when the lead changes details later.

Faxes that reach the right inbox. Watch Incoming Fax picks up new faxes and Get a Fax fetches the document, so the accounting team sees it in their usual tool. Send a Fax covers the opposite direction.

What Make does not cover: the documentation lists no module for the Placetel settings outside calls, faxes, contacts and SIP users. For the rest of the API, Make an API Call reuses your connection. Placetel also asks for a paid Placetel account before any module works. How do you connect Placetel to Make?

    Copy your API key in Placetel

    Log in to Placetel, open Integrations, then the Web API tab. Copy the API key shown there and keep it somewhere safe. Make needs this key to act on your behalf, and the account must be a paid Placetel plan.

    Add a Placetel module in Make

    In your scenario, add any Placetel module and click Create a connection. A connection is your Placetel account linked to Make once, then reused by every Placetel module. Give it a clear name in Connection name if you manage several accounts.

    Paste the key and save

    Paste the key into the API Key field and click Save. If Make asks you to authenticate or confirm access, accept it. Make can now list the calls, faxes and contacts of your account in the module fields.

Your first scenario: turn a new lead into a Placetel call

    Create the scenario

    Open the Scenarios page, create a new scenario and click the +. Pick the trigger of the app that collects your leads, such as your form tool, and link its account.

    Add Create a Contact

    Click the + on the right of the first module, search Placetel and choose Create a Contact. Select your connection, then map the name and phone number from the lead into the contact fields.

    Add Initiate a Call

    Add one more Placetel module, Initiate a Call. Map the phone number coming from the contact you just created, so the call goes to the right person without any copy and paste.

01Is the Placetel Make integration free?
Yes on the Make side: Placetel is a standard app, available on the Free plan like more than 3,000 other apps. The Free plan allows 2 active scenarios, runs scheduled scenarios every 15 minutes at the shortest, stops each run after 5 minutes and caps files at 5 MB. Paid plans (Core, Pro, Teams, Enterprise) lower the interval to 1 minute and count usage in credits per month. Placetel itself is another matter, since the modules require a paid Placetel account.
02What do you need to connect Placetel to Make?
A paid Placetel account and its API key. In Placetel, open Integrations, then the Web API tab, and copy the key. In Make, add a Placetel module, click Create a connection, paste the key in the API Key field and click Save. Confirm access if Make asks. For the four instant call triggers, click Create a webhook and Save first. The connection is created once and every Placetel module of your scenarios reuses it.

Use Make an API Call. It sends any request the Placetel API accepts, with the connection you already set up, so you are not limited to the 19 listed modules. Check the Placetel API documentation to find the endpoint and what it expects. The Make documentation gives no numeric limit for this app, so there is no quota to plan around on the Make side beyond the limits of your Make plan.
