What you can automate

What can the PracticePanther Make integration automate?

The PracticePanther Make integration links your PracticePanther account to Make, a no-code tool where you build a scenario: an automation made of modules, each one a brick that watches, creates, reads or deletes something. Make spots new matters, invoices or time entries and acts on them for you.

Open a matter, get the checklist. Watch Matters picks up each new matter, and Create a Task drops the first to-do into PracticePanther, so nobody has to remember the intake steps by heart.

Keep billing records in step. Watch Invoices and Watch Payments hand each new invoice or payment to the next module, where you can file it in a spreadsheet or tell the person who follows collections.

Log work where it happened. When a call ends in another tool, Create a Call Log or Create a Time Entry writes it into PracticePanther without a second round of typing.

Two limits to know. All 13 triggers are scheduled: Make checks PracticePanther at intervals, it is never pinged by the app. And the official Make documentation for this app is flagged as AI-generated, so test each module with Run once before trusting it. The same app may also exist on n8n; the n8n vs Make page lays out how the two differ. To go further, see the Make training or the Make pricing breakdown.

Connect

How do you connect PracticePanther to Make?

  1. 01

    Request API access in PracticePanther

In PracticePanther, click Support at the top right, then Ask us Anything, and open a new conversation asking for API access. PracticePanther sends back a client ID and a client secret, the two keys Make needs.

  2. 02

Add a PracticePanther module in Make

In your scenario, add any PracticePanther module and click Create a connection. A connection is your PracticePanther account linked to Make once, then reused by every PracticePanther module. You can name it in Connection name.

  3. 03

    Enter your credentials

Paste the client ID and client secret you received, or follow the instructions shown on screen, and confirm. Make then lists your PracticePanther data in the module fields.

First scenario

Your first scenario: a task for every new matter

GoalWhen a new matter is created in PracticePanther, Make creates the first task that goes with it.

  1. 01

    Create the scenario

On the Scenarios page, create a new scenario and click the big + to place the first module. The scenario stays off until you switch it on, so you can build it without risk.

  2. 02

    Add Watch Matters

Search for PracticePanther, pick Watch Matters and choose your connection (or click Create a connection). This scheduled trigger will hand each new matter to the rest of the scenario.

  3. 03

    Add Create a Task

Click the + on the right of the trigger, pick Create a Task, and map the matter coming from Watch Matters into the task fields, so the task lands on the right matter.

  4. 04

    Test with Run once

Create a test matter in PracticePanther, then click Run once. Open the bubbles above each module to read the bundle each one received: a bundle is one item passed from module to module, here one matter, then one task.

  5. 05

    Schedule and switch it on

Click the clock on Watch Matters to set how often Make checks (every 15 minutes by default), then switch the scenario on. Each check that finds a new matter costs operations: one operation is one module run on one bundle, what Make counts on your plan.

Triggers

Triggers: what starts a PracticePanther scenario

13 modules start a scenario when something happens in PracticePanther. A scheduled trigger is checked by Make on the scenario's schedule; an instant one is called by PracticePanther as soon as it happens.

PracticePanther1Watch Call Logs

Watch Call Logs

Scheduled trigger

In MakeTriggers when a new call log is created.

Every phone call your team logs in PracticePanther can start a scenario, so what was said on the line reaches the people who need it.

How it fires
scheduled. Make checks PracticePanther on the scenario's schedule and collects the call logs created since its last visit.
When to use it
a client calls about a deadline, the assistant logs it, and you want the responsible lawyer to get a task or a message without anyone retyping the summary.
Watch out
the official description covers newly created call logs only, so do not count on it to catch a log someone edits afterward.
PracticePanther2Watch Emails

Watch Emails

Scheduled trigger

In MakeTriggers when a new email is created.

Turn each email record added to PracticePanther into the starting point of a scenario, handy when correspondence needs to leave the case file and reach another tool.

How it fires
scheduled. On each run, Make asks PracticePanther for email records created since the previous check.
When to use it
you archive client correspondence in a document tool or a shared sheet and want each new email record copied there without manual exports.
Watch out
this watches email records stored in PracticePanther, not your mailbox. An email never saved in PracticePanther will not reach Make through this module.
PracticePanther3Watch Events

Watch Events

Scheduled trigger

In MakeTriggers when a new event is created.

New calendar events in PracticePanther, such as a hearing or a client meeting, can feed a scenario that tells the right people or prepares what comes next.

How it fires
scheduled. Make polls PracticePanther on the scenario's schedule and returns each event added since the last poll.
When to use it
a meeting is booked in PracticePanther and you want a preparation task created, or a note posted in your team chat with the date.
Watch out
with the default 15 minute schedule, an event booked right before it starts may reach Make late. Tighten the schedule if timing matters.
PracticePanther4Watch Expense Categories

Watch Expense Categories

Scheduled trigger

In MakeTriggers when a new expense category is created.

Know when someone adds a new expense category, so the spreadsheets and accounting tools that mirror your PracticePanther setup stay aligned.

How it fires
scheduled. Make looks for new expense categories each time the scenario runs on its schedule.
When to use it
your bookkeeper keeps a mapping sheet between PracticePanther categories and the chart of accounts, and needs a new row whenever a category appears.
Watch out
categories rarely change, yet the trigger still runs at every scheduled check. A wide schedule is enough here.
PracticePanther5Watch Expenses

Watch Expenses

Scheduled trigger

In MakeTriggers when a new expense is created.

Each new expense recorded in PracticePanther can travel on to a spreadsheet, an approval step or a message, instead of waiting for someone to export it.

How it fires
scheduled. Make checks PracticePanther on the scenario's schedule and returns the expenses created since the previous check, one bundle per expense.
When to use it
a partner wants to see court fees or travel costs as they are entered, in a shared sheet or a chat channel.
Watch out
several expenses entered between two checks arrive as several bundles, and each module after the trigger runs once per bundle, which adds operations.
PracticePanther6Watch Invoices

Watch Invoices

Scheduled trigger

In MakeTriggers when a new invoice is created.

Catch every invoice created in PracticePanther and pass it to the tools that follow billing, so a new bill never sits unnoticed.

How it fires
scheduled. Make queries PracticePanther at each run of the schedule and picks up the invoices added since then.
When to use it
you log invoices in a finance spreadsheet, or you want the person in charge of collections told as soon as a bill exists.
Watch out
the module fires on new invoices. A payment on an existing invoice is a separate event, handled by Watch Payments, so pair the two when you track cash coming in.
PracticePanther7Watch Items

Watch Items

Scheduled trigger

In MakeTriggers when a new item is created.

Start a scenario whenever a new item is added in PracticePanther, useful when the same list has to exist in another tool.

How it fires
scheduled. Make checks for new items on the scenario's schedule, never the moment the item is saved.
When to use it
you keep a copy of your PracticePanther items in a spreadsheet used for quotes, and want it to grow on its own when the list changes.
Watch out
Run once on a fresh scenario may return nothing if no item was added lately. Create one test item first so you have a bundle to map.
PracticePanther8Watch Matters

Watch Matters

Scheduled trigger

In MakeTriggers when a new matter is created.

A natural first trigger: each new matter in PracticePanther can launch the intake work that always follows, from the first task to a welcome message.

How it fires
scheduled. Make asks PracticePanther for new matters every time the scenario runs, every 15 minutes unless you change it.
When to use it
a new client file is opened and you want the checklist tasks created, a folder prepared elsewhere, or the team told in chat.
Watch out
on the Free plan, 15 minutes is the shortest interval between two checks, so a matter opened just after a check waits for the next one.
PracticePanther9Watch Notes

Watch Notes

Scheduled trigger

In MakeTriggers when a new note is created.

Bring every new note from PracticePanther into a scenario, so observations written on a matter reach people who do not live in the app.

How it fires
scheduled. Make checks PracticePanther at the scenario's interval and returns the notes created since its last pass.
When to use it
a paralegal writes a note after reviewing documents and the supervising lawyer wants it in their chat or inbox.
Watch out
notes can hold confidential client details. Check what each following module sends and to whom before switching the scenario on.
PracticePanther10Watch Payments

Watch Payments

Scheduled trigger

In MakeTriggers when a new payment is created.

Every payment recorded in PracticePanther can trigger a thank-you, an accounting entry or an update to your cash tracker, without anyone checking the payment list by hand.

How it fires
scheduled. Make polls PracticePanther on the scenario's schedule and returns each payment created since the last poll.
When to use it
a client settles an invoice and you want the payment logged in a finance sheet and the billing partner informed.
Watch out
test with a real or test payment before activation; a Run once with no new payment returns an empty result and leaves nothing to map.
PracticePanther11Watch Tasks

Watch Tasks

Scheduled trigger

In MakeTriggers when a new task is created.

New tasks created in PracticePanther can be mirrored in the to-do tool your team actually opens, or announced to whoever is assigned.

How it fires
scheduled. Make looks for tasks added since its previous check, each time the scenario's schedule comes around.
When to use it
part of the team plans in a project tool and needs PracticePanther tasks copied there as they appear.
Watch out
if the same scenario also runs Create a Task in PracticePanther, the task it creates will be picked up again at the next check. Keep watching and creating tasks in separate flows.
PracticePanther12Watch Time Entries

Watch Time Entries

Scheduled trigger

In MakeTriggers when a new time entry is created.

Each time entry logged in PracticePanther can flow into reporting or a review step, so billable work is visible without running an export.

How it fires
scheduled. Make asks PracticePanther for new time entries on every run of the scenario's schedule.
When to use it
a manager tracks hours per matter in a spreadsheet dashboard and wants each entry added as a row.
Watch out
busy teams log many entries between two checks, and each one becomes its own bundle. Every module after the trigger runs once per entry, so watch your operation count.
PracticePanther13Watch Users

Watch Users

Scheduled trigger

In MakeTriggers when a new user is created.

Know when a new user joins your PracticePanther account, so onboarding in the other tools can start at the same moment.

How it fires
scheduled. Make checks PracticePanther for new users at each run of the schedule.
When to use it
a new associate gets a PracticePanther seat and you want a welcome message sent and an onboarding checklist created.
Watch out
user records are rare events. Rather than a tight schedule, pick a wide one: a short wait costs you nothing here.
Modules

Modules: what PracticePanther can do in a scenario

PracticePanther gives you 72 modules. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

PracticePanther1

Create a Bank Account

Action

In MakeCreates a bank account.

Adds a bank account record to PracticePanther from data your scenario already holds, so the account list stays in line with what finance manages elsewhere.

When to use it
the details of a newly opened account come in through a form or a spreadsheet row that Make reads.
Watch out
each run creates a new record. A scenario you run twice while testing leaves two accounts to clean up.
PracticePanther2

Create a Call Log

Action

In MakeCreates a call log.

Writes a call log into PracticePanther for you, so a phone call handled in another tool still leaves a trace on the matter.

When to use it
your phone system or a call-notes form captures who called and why, and you want that record in PracticePanther without copying it by hand.
Watch out
map the matter from the earlier module so the log lands on the right file, not on a default one.
PracticePanther3

Create a Matter

Action

In MakeCreates a matter.

Opens a new matter in PracticePanther from outside data, the quickest way to turn an intake request into a case file.

When to use it
a prospect fills in an intake form on your site and, once accepted, the matter should exist in PracticePanther with the details already in place.
Watch out
if Watch Matters feeds another scenario, the matter created here will trigger it too. That can be what you want, just plan for it.
PracticePanther4

Create an Email

Action

In MakeCreates an email.

Saves an email record in PracticePanther, so correspondence handled in another mailbox or tool shows up in the client's history.

When to use it
an important client message arrives in a shared inbox that Make watches, and you want a copy filed on the matter.
Watch out
this creates a record in PracticePanther; do not expect it to send anything to the client. Use your email app's own module for sending.
PracticePanther5

Create an Event

Action

In MakeCreates an event.

Puts a new event on the PracticePanther calendar, so dates booked elsewhere land where the team plans its days.

When to use it
a client books a consultation through an online scheduler and the meeting should appear in PracticePanther.
Watch out
a booking tool that sends updates as new bookings can create twins. Test with Run once and check the calendar before activation.
PracticePanther6

Create an Expense

Action

In MakeCreates an expense.

Records an expense in PracticePanther from data captured elsewhere, so costs reach the matter without a second entry.

When to use it
staff submit costs through a form or a receipt tool, and each approved line should become an expense in PracticePanther.
Watch out
map amounts from the earlier module rather than typing them in the field, or every run will record the same figure.
PracticePanther7

Create an Expense Category

Action

In MakeCreates an expense category.

Adds a new category for sorting expenses in PracticePanther, useful when your category list is managed from another source.

When to use it
the finance team maintains the reference list of categories in a spreadsheet and wants PracticePanther to follow when a row is added.
Watch out
nothing stops a second category with the same name. Check first with Get an Expense Category, or a filter, if the sheet can resend rows.
PracticePanther8

Create an Item

Action

In MakeCreates an item.

Adds an item to your PracticePanther account from scenario data, so a list kept in another tool can feed PracticePanther directly.

When to use it
new entries are added to a master sheet and the same entries need to exist in PracticePanther without being rekeyed.
Watch out
run the scenario once on a single row first; a sheet with many rows produces one bundle, and one new item, per row.
PracticePanther9

Create a Note

Action

In MakeCreates a note.

Attaches a written note in PracticePanther, a simple way to leave a record of something that happened in another tool.

When to use it
a form answer, a signed document or a chat message deserves a line on the matter, and you want it logged the moment Make sees it.
Watch out
build the note text from mapped fields so each one says something specific; a fixed text repeated on every note tells the reader nothing.
PracticePanther10

Create a Relationship

Action

In MakeCreates a relationship.

Creates a relationship record in PracticePanther, so links that are known elsewhere get recorded without manual work.

When to use it
your intake form collects related parties and you want the matching relationship stored in PracticePanther once the matter is set up.
Watch out
the records you link must already exist. Place this module after the ones that create or find them, and map their data in.
PracticePanther11

Create a Task

Action

In MakeCreates a task.

Drops a new task into PracticePanther, the module that turns an event somewhere else into a clear to-do for the team.

When to use it
right after Watch Matters, to create the first intake step, or after a form submission that needs someone to call back.
Watch out
one bundle in means one task out. Several new matters caught by one check produce several tasks, which is usually right, but test it once.
PracticePanther12

Create a Time Entry

Action

In MakeCreates a time entry.

Logs time in PracticePanther from activity recorded elsewhere, so billable work reaches the matter even when it started in another tool.

When to use it
a lawyer tracks time in a timer app, and each finished session should become a time entry on the right matter.
Watch out
check that the duration from the timer tool is mapped as expected with Run once, before real hours start flowing into billing.
PracticePanther13

Delete a Bank Account

Action

In MakeDeletes a bank account.

Removes a bank account record from PracticePanther, for housekeeping driven by another list or a decision taken elsewhere.

When to use it
an account is marked as closed in the finance sheet and should disappear from PracticePanther too.
Watch out
a delete module cannot be taken back. Put a filter before it so only the rows you meant to close ever reach it.
PracticePanther14

Delete a Call Log

Action

In MakeDeletes a call log.

Erases a call log from PracticePanther when it no longer belongs there, such as a test entry or a duplicate.

When to use it
a cleanup scenario spots call logs created twice by an earlier automation and removes the extra copy.
Watch out
once gone, the call log is gone. Run the scenario on a single test log with Run once before letting it loose.
PracticePanther15

Delete a Matter

Action

In MakeDeletes a matter.

Deletes a matter in PracticePanther, the heaviest cleanup you can hand to a scenario.

When to use it
a matter was opened by mistake, for instance by an intake form that fired twice, and the duplicate should go.
Watch out
nothing in Make brings a deleted matter back. Consider keeping this step manual, or add a filter that only lets clearly flagged duplicates through.
PracticePanther16

Delete an Email

Action

In MakeDeletes an email.

Removes an email record from PracticePanther, so the client history only keeps the correspondence you meant to file.

When to use it
an automation saved internal or test messages on a matter and you want those records cleared.
Watch out
this touches the PracticePanther record only, not the original message in a mailbox, and the deletion cannot be undone.
PracticePanther17

Delete an Event

Action

In MakeDeletes an event.

Takes an event off the PracticePanther calendar, useful when a cancellation is recorded in another tool first.

When to use it
a client cancels a consultation in the booking tool and the slot should free up in PracticePanther as well.
Watch out
Make needs to know exactly which event to remove, so store or find its reference when the event is created, before you rely on this module.
PracticePanther18

Delete an Expense

Action

In MakeDeletes an expense.

Removes an expense from PracticePanther, keeping costs on a matter accurate when an entry was wrong.

When to use it
an expense is rejected in your approval tool after it was already pushed to PracticePanther, and the line needs to go.
Watch out
an expense may already be billed. Check it in PracticePanther before automating the deletion, since it cannot be reversed.
PracticePanther19

Delete an Expense Category

Action

In MakeDeletes an expense category.

Drops a category from the PracticePanther expense list, to keep that list short and in sync with your accounting reference.

When to use it
a category is retired in the master spreadsheet and should no longer be offered in PracticePanther.
Watch out
expenses may still use that category. Review them before deleting, because the removal is final.
PracticePanther20

Delete an Invoice

Action

In MakeDeletes an invoice.

Deletes an invoice in PracticePanther, a step you only automate when the rule for it is clear.

When to use it
a new invoice created by another scenario turns out to be a duplicate and should be removed before anyone sends it.
Watch out
billing records matter for your books. Keep a filter in front of this module and never point it at invoices that have payments.
PracticePanther21

Delete an Item

Action

In MakeDeletes an item.

Removes an item from PracticePanther when the source list you trust says it should no longer exist.

When to use it
an entry is struck from the master sheet that feeds Create an Item, and PracticePanther should reflect that.
Watch out
the deletion is permanent. Test on one throwaway item with Run once and check the result in PracticePanther first.
PracticePanther22

Delete a Note

Action

In MakeDeletes a note.

Clears a note from PracticePanther, handy for undoing notes an earlier automation wrote by mistake.

When to use it
a scenario posted placeholder notes during testing and you want them removed from the matters.
Watch out
a deleted note cannot be recovered through Make. Point this module only at notes you can identify with certainty.
PracticePanther23

Delete a Payment

Action

In MakeDeletes a payment.

Removes a payment record from PracticePanther, a sensitive action that changes what the invoice shows as paid.

When to use it
a payment was recorded twice by an import or an automation, and the duplicate must disappear.
Watch out
talk to whoever owns billing before automating this. A wrong deletion changes balances and cannot be undone.
PracticePanther24

Delete a Relationship

Action

In MakeDeletes a relationship.

Breaks a relationship record in PracticePanther when the link no longer holds in your source data.

When to use it
your intake form or CRM marks a related party as removed, and PracticePanther should stop showing the link.
Watch out
removing the relationship leaves the linked records in place but loses the link for good. Make sure the right one is targeted.
PracticePanther25

Delete a Task

Action

In MakeDeletes a task.

Removes a task from PracticePanther, so a to-do cancelled elsewhere does not linger on someone's list.

When to use it
a task was mirrored from a project tool and it is deleted there; this module keeps both sides clean.
Watch out
a deleted task is not archived. If you want history, update the task instead of deleting it.
PracticePanther26

Delete a Time Entry

Action

In MakeDeletes a time entry.

Deletes a time entry from PracticePanther, useful when hours were logged twice or on the wrong matter.

When to use it
a timer app sent a session to PracticePanther and the lawyer then discarded it in that app.
Watch out
time entries feed invoices. Removing one that is already billed can put records out of step, and there is no undo.
PracticePanther27

Delete a User

Action

In MakeDeletes a user.

Removes a user from your PracticePanther account, which lets offboarding follow the same steps every time.

When to use it
someone leaves the firm, their status changes in your HR tool, and their PracticePanther access should go too.
Watch out
this is final. Reassign that user's open matters and tasks before the scenario runs, and keep a human approval step in front of it.
PracticePanther28

Get a Bank Account

Action

In MakeGets a bank account.

Reads one bank account from PracticePanther and returns its details, so the following modules can use them.

When to use it
a payment scenario needs the account data to write a line in your finance sheet or to add it to a message.
Watch out
Get reads a single record you point to. Map its reference from an earlier module; when you need all accounts, a list module is the better fit.
PracticePanther29

Get a Call Log

Action

In MakeGets a call log.

Fetches the full content of a single call log, so a scenario can pass on what was noted during the call.

When to use it
another step only knows which call is involved and you need the notes to send a recap to the lawyer in charge.
Watch out
a Get module adds an operation for every bundle it handles. Skip it when the trigger already gave you the data you need.
PracticePanther30

Get a Contact

Action

In MakeGets a contact.

Brings back one contact from PracticePanther with its details, the data you most often need to address a client properly.

When to use it
a new invoice or event arrives and you want the client's details to send a message through another app.
Watch out
there is no module to create a contact in this set, only Get a Contact and List Contacts. Check the contact exists before relying on it.
PracticePanther31

Get a Matter

Action

In MakeGets a matter.

Loads one matter from PracticePanther, giving the next modules the context of the case they are working on.

When to use it
a trigger on tasks or time entries tells you which matter is concerned, and you need the matter data to label a report line or a message.
Watch out
map the matter reference from the earlier bundle rather than choosing it in the field, or every run will read the same matter.
PracticePanther32

Get an Email

Action

In MakeGets an email.

Reads one email record stored in PracticePanther, so its content can be reused in another tool.

When to use it
a scenario needs the text of a filed message to attach it to a report or pass it to a colleague.
Watch out
it reads what PracticePanther stored, not the live mailbox. A message never saved in PracticePanther will not be found here.
PracticePanther33

Get an Event

Action

In MakeGets an event.

Retrieves one calendar event from PracticePanther, to reuse its date and description further down the scenario.

When to use it
you send a reminder before a meeting and need the exact event details pulled from PracticePanther rather than guessed.
Watch out
event data can change after the booking. Reading it with this module right before sending avoids passing on an outdated time.
PracticePanther34

Get an Expense

Action

In MakeGets an expense.

Pulls the details of one expense from PracticePanther, so an approval or reporting step has the full picture.

When to use it
an approval tool references an expense and the approver needs its details shown in the request.
Watch out
use Watch Expenses when you want new expenses, and this module when you already know which expense you need; mixing the two costs extra operations.
PracticePanther35

Get an Expense Category

Action

In MakeGets an expense category.

Returns one expense category from PracticePanther, which helps a scenario label costs the same way the app does.

When to use it
an expense arrives with only its category reference and your finance sheet needs the readable category name.
Watch out
reading the same category for every expense spends operations for identical data. If categories rarely move, keep a lookup sheet instead.
PracticePanther36

Get an Invoice

Action

In MakeGets an invoice.

Loads one invoice from PracticePanther with its details, ready to be copied to accounting or shared with a client.

When to use it
a payment comes in through Watch Payments and you want the related invoice data to update your collections tracker.
Watch out
the invoice can change between creation and payment. Read it at the moment you need it rather than reusing an old bundle.
PracticePanther37

Get an Item

Action

In MakeGets an item.

Reads a single item from PracticePanther, so its details can feed a quote, a sheet or a message.

When to use it
another module refers to an item and you want its full description before writing it elsewhere.
Watch out
if the item was deleted in PracticePanther, the module has nothing to return. Test that case with Run once before you depend on it.
PracticePanther38

Get a Note

Action

In MakeGets a note.

Fetches one note from PracticePanther in full, so the text can be quoted in an update or a summary.

When to use it
a task created from a note should carry the note text, and the trigger only gave you part of what you need.
Watch out
notes may be confidential. Decide where their text is allowed to go before mapping it into chat or email modules.
PracticePanther39

Get a Payment

Action

In MakeGets a payment.

Returns one payment recorded in PracticePanther, to confirm what came in before acting on it.

When to use it
a receipt or a thank-you message should state what the client actually paid, read straight from PracticePanther.
Watch out
after Delete a Payment has run, there is no payment left to read. Keep reading and deleting in a sensible order in cleanup scenarios.
PracticePanther40

Get a Relationship

Action

In MakeGets a relationship.

Reads one relationship record from PracticePanther, showing how two records are tied together.

When to use it
before sending a document, a scenario checks the relationship to confirm it goes to the right party.
Watch out
the module reads one known relationship. To browse them all you will want the list module, which returns many bundles at once.
PracticePanther41

Get a Task

Action

In MakeGets a task.

Reads one PracticePanther task in full, so the next modules can reuse its details.

When to use it
a trigger or a search handed you a task and you need the complete record before writing a reminder or a report line.
Watch out
Get a Task reads the single task you point it to; to go through several, List Tasks is the right module.
PracticePanther42

Get a Time Entry

Action

In MakeGets a time entry.

Reads the complete record of one time entry, ready to map into a spreadsheet row or a message to the lawyer in charge.

When to use it
right after Watch Time Entries or List Time Entries, when the next step needs the full entry and not just a reference to it.
Watch out
this is a read that changes nothing in PracticePanther, yet it still counts as one operation, meaning one run of one module on your Make plan.
PracticePanther43

Get a User

Action

In MakeGets a user.

Returns the profile of one PracticePanther user, so the next module can show who did the work.

When to use it
a task or a time entry points to a user and the message you send afterwards should name that person rather than show a reference.
Watch out
it fetches one user at a time; to go over the whole firm, pick List Users instead.
PracticePanther44

Make an API Call

Action

In MakePerforms an arbitrary authorized API call.

Sends a request of your choice to the PracticePanther API, reusing the connection (your PracticePanther account linked to Make once) you already created.

When to use it
none of the 85 modules on this page does the job, for example creating an invoice, which has no dedicated module here.
Watch out
you write the request yourself, so keep the PracticePanther API documentation open while you build it.
PracticePanther45

Update a Bank Account

Action

In MakeUpdates a bank account.

Edits a bank account record in PracticePanther to match what changed elsewhere, without anyone opening the app to retype it.

When to use it
the accounting tool of the firm reports a change on an account and PracticePanther should show the same thing.
Watch out
Make has to know which account to edit, so place Get a Bank Account or List Bank Accounts before it and map the account it returns.
PracticePanther46

Update a Call Log

Action

In MakeUpdates a call log.

Completes a call log after the fact, so the history of a client conversation stays accurate even when the summary arrives later.

When to use it
a follow-up form or a call summary lands in another app and belongs on a call log that already exists.
Watch out
Update a Call Log edits an existing log; if the call was never logged, Create a Call Log is the module you want.
PracticePanther47

Update a Matter

Action

In MakeUpdates a matter.

Moves a matter forward: the values you map land on the existing file, so the team sees the change the next time they open it.

When to use it
an event in another tool, such as an engagement letter signed in your e-signature app, should be reflected on the matter.
Watch out
point the module at the right matter, and a List Matters placed just before it is the easiest way to find it.
PracticePanther48

Update an Email

Action

In MakeUpdates an email.

Corrects an email record stored in PracticePanther in place, instead of piling a second copy next to it.

When to use it
an email your scenario logged earlier with Create an Email needs its content fixed after a colleague reviews it.
Watch out
Run it with Run once on one email first and check the result in PracticePanther before you switch the scenario on.
PracticePanther49

Update an Event

Action

In MakeUpdates an event.

Shifts the matching event in PracticePanther when a date moves somewhere else, so nobody works from a stale calendar.

When to use it
a hearing or a client meeting gets rescheduled in another calendar and the PracticePanther event should follow.
Watch out
the module edits one precise event, so pick it first through Get an Event or List Events.
PracticePanther50

Update an Expense

Action

In MakeUpdates an expense.

Fixes the details of an expense already recorded, so what you bill later matches what was actually spent.

When to use it
a receipt tool or a reviewer flags a wrong expense and the correction should reach PracticePanther without retyping.
Watch out
map only the values that change and read the result after Run once; a wrong mapping can replace a correct value.
PracticePanther51

Update an Expense Category

Action

In MakeUpdates an expense category.

Renames or adjusts an expense category from the scenario, handy when your categories are managed in another tool.

When to use it
the chart of accounts changes in the accounting software and PracticePanther should use the same labels.
Watch out
aim at the right category by placing Get an Expense Category or List Expense Categories before it.
PracticePanther52

Update an Item

Action

In MakeUpdates an item.

Changes an item that already exists in PracticePanther to match the source you trust, so the list your team bills from stays tidy.

When to use it
a label or setting changes in the tool where you maintain your offer and the item should follow.
Watch out
Watch Items reports new items only, so to reach the ones already there, start from List Items or Get an Item.
PracticePanther53

Update a Note

Action

In MakeUpdates a note.

Corrects a note already saved in PracticePanther, so the team reads one clean version rather than two.

When to use it
a note your scenario created from a form needs completing once the rest of the answers arrive.
Watch out
this module needs an existing note to edit; when there is none yet, Create a Note has to come first.
PracticePanther54

Update a Relationship

Action

In MakeUpdates a relationship.

Edits a relationship record stored in PracticePanther in place, keeping the links your firm tracks current.

When to use it
someone's role on a file changes in another tool and the relationship should reflect it without a manual edit.
Watch out
find the record first with List Relationships or Get a Relationship, since Update a Relationship works on one record at a time.
PracticePanther55

Update a Task

Action

In MakeUpdates a task.

Edits a PracticePanther task when the work moves forward in another tool, so the task list stays close to reality.

When to use it
a project board or a form marks the work as done and the matching task in PracticePanther should say so too.
Watch out
Watch Tasks fires on new tasks only, so it will not tell you a task changed; start this scenario from another app's event.
PracticePanther56

Update a Time Entry

Action

In MakeUpdates a time entry.

Corrects a time entry after it was logged, so the hours billed match the hours worked.

When to use it
a timesheet review in another tool changes an entry and PracticePanther must carry the reviewed version.
Watch out
test on a single entry with Run once and check it in PracticePanther before letting the scenario edit several.
PracticePanther57

List Bank Accounts

Search

In MakeGets all bank accounts.

Returns every bank account recorded in PracticePanther, one bundle (one item passed to the next module) per account.

When to use it
you need to find the account to update, or to copy the list into a spreadsheet for the accountant.
Watch out
each module placed after it runs once per account, and each run counts as an operation on your plan.
PracticePanther58

List Call Logs

Search

In MakeGets all call logs.

Brings back the call logs stored in PracticePanther, so a scenario can build a digest of client calls in a shared sheet.

When to use it
you want the whole history rather than only the new calls, which is what Watch Call Logs reports.
Watch out
the result can be empty, so check with Run once how the scenario behaves when no log comes back.
PracticePanther59

List Contacts

Search

In MakeGets all contacts.

Pulls your PracticePanther contacts into Make, one bundle per contact for the next modules to use.

When to use it
syncing clients to a newsletter tool or a CRM, since no trigger watches contacts on this app.
Watch out
to read a single contact you already know, Get a Contact returns one bundle instead of the whole list.
PracticePanther60

List Emails

Search

In MakeGets all emails.

Returns the email records stored in PracticePanther, ready to be archived or searched in another tool.

When to use it
building an export of client correspondence into a document or spreadsheet the firm keeps outside PracticePanther.
Watch out
Watch Emails already covers emails as they are created; List Emails is for the ones that were there before.
PracticePanther61

List Events

Search

In MakeGets all events.

Returns the events of the PracticePanther calendar, the starting point to display or share them in another tool.

When to use it
filling a shared calendar or a team channel with the hearings and meetings on file.
Watch out
every event becomes a bundle and every module after the search runs once per bundle, which adds operations fast on a busy calendar.
PracticePanther62

List Expense Categories

Search

In MakeGets all expense categories.

Lists the expense categories that exist, so your scenario picks the right one instead of guessing.

When to use it
before Create an Expense, when the category comes from a receipt tool and should match an existing label.
Watch out
this module only reads; to add a missing category, chain Create an Expense Category after it.
PracticePanther63

List Expenses

Search

In MakeGets all expenses.

Brings recorded expenses out of PracticePanther for review or reporting in another app.

When to use it
preparing a spreadsheet of expenses for the accountant, or checking what still has to be billed.
Watch out
new expenses already reach Make through Watch Expenses; keep this search for looking at what was already recorded.
PracticePanther64

List Invoices

Search

In MakeGets all invoices.

Reads the invoices in PracticePanther, one bundle per invoice, so you can follow up or report on them elsewhere.

When to use it
sending a summary of the firm's invoices to a finance sheet or a team channel.
Watch out
this app has no module to create or update an invoice; Make an API Call is the route when reading and deleting are not enough.
PracticePanther65

List Items

Search

In MakeGets all items.

Returns the items stored in PracticePanther, so the scenario can compare, copy or update them.

When to use it
aligning PracticePanther with another list of billable items, or finding the item Update an Item should change.
Watch out
List Items can return zero, one or many items, so read the bundles in Run once to see what the next module will receive.
PracticePanther66

List Matters

Search

In MakeGets all matters.

Returns the full set of matters as separate bundles, the starting point for any report or clean-up across files.

When to use it
a partner wants every matter copied into a tracking sheet, or you need the right matter before Update a Matter.
Watch out
Watch Matters picks up new matters only; to reach existing ones, this search is the entry point.
PracticePanther67

List Notes

Search

In MakeGets all notes.

Reads the notes saved in PracticePanther, so they can travel to a document, a knowledge base or a message.

When to use it
gathering the notes of the firm into an archive the whole team can search.
Watch out
a large account means many bundles, and as many operations for each module that follows, so test with Run once first.
PracticePanther68

List Payments

Search

In MakeGets all payments.

Returns the payments recorded in PracticePanther as a list, handy to reconcile what clients paid with your bank or accounting tool.

When to use it
a finance spreadsheet should show every payment, including the ones received before your scenario existed.
Watch out
there is no Create or Update module for payments here; watching, reading and deleting are the options, plus Make an API Call.
PracticePanther69

List Relationships

Search

In MakeGets all relationships.

Returns all the relationships stored in PracticePanther, so you see how records are tied together before acting on one.

When to use it
you need to find the record Update a Relationship or Delete a Relationship should target.
Watch out
no trigger watches relationships on this app, so a scenario built on them starts from a schedule or from another app.
PracticePanther70

List Tasks

Search

In MakeGets all tasks.

Returns the PracticePanther task list, one bundle per task, so you can chase, count or copy tasks in another tool.

When to use it
sharing the team's tasks in a chat channel or on a project board the firm already uses.
Watch out
Watch Tasks covers tasks created from now on, while List Tasks also returns the older ones, so expect a longer result.
PracticePanther71

List Time Entries

Search

In MakeGets all time entries.

Brings every time entry into the scenario, so hours logged in PracticePanther can be totaled or checked outside the app.

When to use it
feeding a timesheet review or a payroll spreadsheet with what each person logged.
Watch out
a long history produces many bundles, and each module after the search spends one operation per entry.
PracticePanther72

List Users

Search

In MakeGets all users.

Returns the users of your PracticePanther account, so people are easy to match between PracticePanther and your other tools.

When to use it
assigning work automatically, where the scenario needs the right user before Create a Task or Update a Task.
Watch out
Watch Users reacts to new users only; for the team already in place, run this search.

FAQ

PracticePanther and Make: common questions

01Is the PracticePanther Make integration free?
Yes, you can start on the Make Free plan, since PracticePanther is a standard app and not reserved to the Enterprise plan. The Free plan gives you 2 active scenarios, checks no more often than every 15 minutes, runs of 5 minutes at most and files up to 5 MB. Paid plans (Core, Pro, Teams, Enterprise) lower the interval to 1 minute and remove the cap on active scenarios. You still need an active PracticePanther account with API access.
02What do you need to connect PracticePanther to Make?
An active PracticePanther account and a client ID with its client secret. You get them by asking PracticePanther for API access: click Support at the top right of PracticePanther, then Ask us Anything, and open a conversation requesting it. In Make, add a PracticePanther module, click Create a connection, optionally name it, and paste those credentials. The connection is then reused by all 85 modules. If you pick a module with an instant tag, the doc adds a Create a webhook step first, but none of the PracticePanther modules has one.
03Do PracticePanther triggers in Make fire instantly?
No. All 13 PracticePanther triggers are scheduled: Make checks PracticePanther on the scenario's schedule, every 15 minutes by default, and collects what was created since the last check. None of them is instant, so PracticePanther never calls Make on its own. On a paid plan you can shorten the interval to 1 minute; on the Free plan, 15 minutes is the minimum. To test, create a record in PracticePanther first, then click Run once.
04What if a PracticePanther module is missing in Make?
Use Make an API Call. It calls any endpoint of the PracticePanther API with the same connection, so you can reach what the 85 listed modules leave out. Also note that the Make documentation for this app is marked as AI-generated and may contain mistakes, so test each module with Run once, and check PracticePanther's own documentation when a result looks off. Each run of Make an API Call counts as an operation, like any other module.
05Should you use Make or n8n for PracticePanther?
It depends on your criteria. On Make, PracticePanther comes with 85 ready modules, a connection built once, and Make an API Call for the rest, all usable from the Free plan. The same app may also have a node on n8n; compare what each tool offers for PracticePanther, the way you like to build, and which one your team already uses, rather than looking for a winner. If you already work in Make, the connection steps and first scenario on this page get you started.
