What the AcyMailing Zapier integration actually does
AcyMailing runs your newsletters from inside a WordPress or Joomla site. Zapier connects it to other tools through a Zap: an automation that starts on an event (the trigger) and then does things for you (the actions). Here, the events are people joining, confirming or leaving your lists, and the actions manage those same people.
A welcome that waits for real consent. New Confirmed User only fires once someone has clicked the double opt-in link. Pair it with Subscribe User and Email a Single User, and a membership site only enrolls people who actually confirmed.
Lists that stay consistent. User Unsubscribed from Lists spots a departure; Unsubscribe User then takes the person off related lists, so a reader who left your promotions does not keep getting your flash sales.
Contacts fed from outside the site. Add or Update a User brings people in from your CRM or your shop, and Delete a User removes them when a request comes in. New User Created and User Subscribed to Lists work the other way, pushing fresh signups out to your other tools.
What Zapier does not do here: none of the four triggers is instant, so a free plan only checks every 15 minutes. It cannot build a campaign or design an email either: Email a Single User sends an email that already exists in AcyMailing. And it never looks back at users who were there before your Zap went live.
Comparing tools for this? The AcyMailing Make integration page is the companion of this one, and Make vs Zapier is there if you are still choosing between the two.
Zapier vocabulary in one minute
Seven words that come back on every line, in plain English.
- Zap
- The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run every time that trigger event happens.
- Trigger
- The event that starts a Zap, such as a user confirming their AcyMailing subscription. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it.
- Action
- What the Zap does once started: the step that writes, sends or removes something for you in an app.
- Task
- The unit Zapier bills: one action that completes successfully. Your plan allowance is simply a count of those.
- Polling vs instant
- A polling trigger is checked on a timer set by your plan. An instant trigger is pushed by the app the moment the event happens. AcyMailing only polls.
- Filter
- A step that lets the Zap carry on only when what arrived meets your condition, and stops it otherwise.
- Search step
- A step that looks up something already stored in an app for later steps. AcyMailing offers none on Zapier.
What an AcyMailing Zap really costs
Zapier checking your lists is free. What your Zap does with each user is not.
- Trigger and each checkFree, never counted
- Each successful action1 task
- Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps only
- AcyMailing on the free planYes, not a premium app
The trigger costs nothing, and neither does each check for new users, however often it happens. Each action that succeeds counts as one task, separately: subscribe a user then email them, and that is two tasks per person. An action that fails is not counted. The free plan gives you 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, but only two-step Zaps: one trigger, one action. A second action or a filter makes the Zap multi-step, which needs a paid plan. AcyMailing is not a premium app, so it works on the free plan. Its triggers are all polling ones, so the grid below sets how quickly your Zap notices a new user.
Connect AcyMailing to Zapier
- 01
Open the Apps page
In Zapier, go to Apps and click + Add connection. A connection is your AcyMailing account linked once, then reused by every Zap that reads or changes your lists.
- 02
Pick AcyMailing
Search for AcyMailing in the dialog, select it, then click Add connection. You need an AcyMailing account of your own before the connection can go through.
- 03
Sign in and grant access
A new tab opens. Sign in to AcyMailing, then allow Zapier to work with the account. If the lists you want to automate are managed by someone else, check that your login can read and edit them.
Your first Zap: welcome only confirmed members
GoalWhen a user confirms their subscription, add them to your members list and send them the welcome email you already prepared in AcyMailing.
- 01
Build: choose the trigger
Create a Zap, pick AcyMailing and New Confirmed User, then select your connection. This trigger only reacts once the double opt-in link has been clicked.
- 02
Test the trigger
Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent confirmed users, so you map the next steps on a real person instead of an empty template.
- 03
Subscribe to the members list
Add Subscribe User, map the user's email and type the ID of your members list. Turn Send Welcome Email off, since the next step does the welcoming.
- 04
Send the welcome email
Add Email a Single User with the same email and the Email ID of your welcome message. Two actions make this a multi-step Zap, so it needs a paid plan.
- 05
Test, then Publish
Test each action and read what came back. Then click Publish. Each confirmed user now uses two tasks, and Zapier picks them up at your plan's interval.
AcyMailing triggers on Zapier
4 events start a Zap when something happens in AcyMailing. Zapier checks for them at the interval your plan allows.
New Confirmed User
Polling triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a user confirms their email address (clicked on the confirmation link - double opt-in).”
Starts your Zap when a user confirms their email address by clicking the double opt-in link. Until that click, nothing happens, which makes it the only one of the four triggers tied to the double opt-in.
User Subscribed to Lists
Polling triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a user subscribes to one or more specified list(s).”
Fires when a user joins one or more lists you name. It follows list membership, not account creation, so an existing user who joins a new list counts too.
User Unsubscribed from Lists
Polling triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a user unsubscribes from the specified lists.”
Reacts when a user leaves the lists you specify. It is the signal to update everything that still treats them as a subscriber elsewhere.
New User Created
Polling triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a new user is created.”
Runs for every user added to your AcyMailing database, confirmed or not, whatever list they end up on. It is the broadest of the four triggers.
AcyMailing actions on Zapier
AcyMailing gives you 5 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.
Operations index
Add or Update a User
ActionIn Zapier“Creates a new user or updates an existing user.”
Creates a user in AcyMailing, or updates one that already exists. It is how contacts from your shop or CRM reach your lists.
Delete a User
ActionIn Zapier“Deletes a user from your AcyMailing database.”
Removes a user from your AcyMailing database, identified by their email address alone.
Email a Single User
ActionIn Zapier“Send an email to a single AcyMailing user.”
Sends one email you already built in AcyMailing to one user, picked by email address and Email ID.
Subscribe User
ActionIn Zapier“Subscribes a user to the specified list(s).”
Adds a user, by email, to one or more lists named by their IDs.
Unsubscribe User
ActionIn Zapier“Unsubscribes a user from the specified list(s).”
Takes a user off the lists whose IDs you give, which is narrower than deleting them.
When an AcyMailing Zap breaks
Zapier attaches no help article to AcyMailing, so the cases below come from Zapier's general rules and from the fields of the app itself.
Two of them come from the default settings of the app's own fields; the others are general to Zapier, as they play out with AcyMailing. If you would rather hand the diagnosis to someone, see our Zapier troubleshooting page.
The list IDs are typed wrong
Triggers and actions expect list IDs as numbers, one or several separated by commas. Type the numeric IDs from AcyMailing, never the list names you see in your campaigns. The Zap keeps creating itself work
New User Created plus Add or Update a User in the same Zap can create users that start the Zap again, burning through your tasks fast.Saving a user sends emails you did not plan
Add or Update a User starts automations and sends the confirmation email by default. Switch those options off when you only want to sync data.Your existing users never show up
A Zap only reacts to what happens after it is switched on. Users already in AcyMailing are not replayed; moving them is a separate job.A bulk import holds the Zap back
When a trigger suddenly returns a huge batch, after an import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold the runs instead of firing them all.A user does not start the Zap twice
On a polling trigger, Zapier remembers who it has already picked up, so the same item never starts the Zap a second time.
