Overview

What the Obeatow Zapier integration actually does

Obeatow collects visual feedback and bug reports. Zapier watches for each new one and hands it to another app, so nobody has to copy a report by hand into chat, a spreadsheet or a ticket board. It works in one direction only: out of Obeatow, never back in.

Everything here rests on a single operation, New Submission. That is narrow, but it covers the job most teams want done. Three outcomes come up again and again:

A ping where the team talks. A tester flags a broken button, and the report lands in a chat channel at the next check, with its details attached. A running log. Each submission becomes a new row in a spreadsheet, which gives you a history you can sort and count without opening Obeatow. A ticket that already exists. The report opens a card in your project tool, so triage starts from a real item instead of a forwarded screenshot.

Now the part the app page skips. Zapier cannot write anything into Obeatow: there is no action to create, update or close a submission, and no search to look one up. If you want a status in your tracker to flow back into Obeatow, this integration will not do it. Older submissions are not picked up either; only what arrives after you switch the Zap on.

If you are still choosing a platform, the Make vs Zapier comparison lays out the trade-offs criterion by criterion.

Vocabulary

Zapier vocabulary in one minute

Seven words come back on every Zapier screen. Here they are in plain English, so the rest of the page reads without a dictionary.

Zap
The automation you build: one trigger, then one or more actions that run every time that trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event that starts the Zap. Here, a new submission in Obeatow. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it.
Action
What the Zap does after it starts: the step that writes, sends or moves something in another app for you.
Task
The unit Zapier bills. One task is one action that completes successfully; your plan counts those and nothing else.
Polling vs instant
A polling trigger is checked on a timer for new items. An instant one is pushed by the app the moment it happens.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap continue only when the incoming data meets your condition, and stops it quietly otherwise.
Connection
Your Obeatow account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every step and every Zap that needs Obeatow.
Cost

What it really costs to run

Obeatow is not a premium app, so it works on the free plan. The trigger costs nothing, however often Zapier checks for new submissions.

  • Trigger checksNever billed
  • Free plan100 tasks a month, unlimited Zaps
  • Free plan Zap sizeTwo steps: one trigger, one action
  • Premium appNo, available on the free plan

You pay in tasks, and only for actions that succeed. One report sent to one chat channel is one task; send it to chat and to a spreadsheet and that is two. A failed action is not counted, and neither is any check on Obeatow. The catch nobody advertises: the free plan stops at two steps, one trigger and one action. Add a filter or a second action and you have a multi-step Zap, which needs a paid plan.

Connect

Connect Obeatow to Zapier in three steps

  1. 01

    Open the Apps page

In your Zapier account, go to Apps and click + Add connection. You need an existing Obeatow account, plus read access to anything you do not own yourself but want the Zap to read.

  2. 02

    Find Obeatow and confirm

Type Obeatow in the search box of the dialog, pick it from the list, then click Add connection. A new browser tab opens on the Obeatow side, where the sign-in happens.

  3. 03

    Sign in and grant access

Log in to Obeatow in that tab and allow Zapier to reach the account. The connection then appears in your list, ready for any Zap that starts from Obeatow.

First Zap

Your first Zap: every bug report into the team channel

GoalEach new Obeatow submission is checked by a filter, then posted to a chat channel.

  1. 01

    Create the Zap

Click to create a new Zap. In the trigger slot, pick Obeatow, choose New Submission as the event, and select the connection you just added.

  2. 02

    Test the trigger

Run the test. Zapier pulls back the three most recent submissions of your account, so you can pick a real one and map its fields in the next steps. Send one test report first if the account is empty.

  3. 03

    Add the filter (paid plans)

From the plus icon, add a Filter step. Set the field to watch, the rule and the value. Remember: a filter makes this a multi-step Zap, which the free plan does not run.

  4. 04

    Add the action

Add the chat app as the action, pick the channel, and drop the submission fields that came back from the test into the message. Keep it short.

  5. 05

    Test, then publish

Test each step and read what came back. When the message looks right in the channel, click Publish to switch the Zap on.

Triggers

The Obeatow trigger

1 event starts a Zap when something happens in Obeatow. Zapier checks for them at the interval your plan allows.

1

New Submission

Polling trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new submission is created”

Starts your Zap whenever someone files a new piece of feedback or a bug report in Obeatow, and hands its details to the steps that follow. It is the only door out of Obeatow, so every scenario on this page begins here.

How it fires
Zapier goes and looks at regular intervals, and how often depends on your plan: every 15 minutes on the free one
When to use it
when a QA round or a client review produces reports that someone currently forwards by hand to developers.
Watch out
Zapier remembers what it has already seen, so the same submission never starts the Zap twice, and reports filed before the Zap was published are ignored.
When it breaks

When the Obeatow Zap breaks

Zapier does not attach any help article or documented error to Obeatow. What breaks is what breaks on every polling trigger.

Four cases explain most of the silence on a one-trigger app like this one. None of them throws a scary error; they show up as a Zap that seems quiet or late. For a wider checklist, the Zapier troubleshooting guide walks through the usual suspects, and the Zapier training covers multi-step Zaps in depth.

  • Old reports never arrive

A Zap only reacts to what happens after it is switched on. Submissions filed before that stay in Obeatow, and moving them is a separate job.
  • The report shows up late

On a polling trigger the delay is the plan interval. On the free plan a report can wait up to 15 minutes before the Zap runs.
  • A big batch gets held back

If a test campaign suddenly produces a huge pile of submissions, Zapier's flood protection can hold the batch back instead of running it all.
  • An item does not fire twice

Zapier keeps track of what it has already seen on a polling trigger. A submission that already ran the Zap will not start it again.

FAQ

Obeatow Zapier integration: frequent questions

01Is the Obeatow Zapier integration free?
Yes, as long as your Zap stays at two steps. Obeatow is not a premium app, so the free plan accepts it, with 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps. The limit is the shape of the Zap: one trigger and one action, nothing more. As soon as you add a filter, a search or a second action, the Zap becomes multi-step and needs a paid plan. The trigger itself never consumes a task, so watching Obeatow costs nothing; you only pay when the action that follows succeeds.
02How many tasks does an Obeatow Zap use?
One task per successful action, per submission. If each new report goes to a single chat channel, that is one task per report. Send it to chat and log it in a spreadsheet, and each report costs two tasks. The checks Zapier runs on Obeatow are free however often they happen, and an action that fails is not counted against your plan. So the bill follows the number of reports your testers file, multiplied by the number of actions in the Zap.
03Does Obeatow send submissions to Zapier in real time?
No. New Submission is a polling trigger: Zapier goes and looks at regular intervals, and how often depends on your plan. On the free plan that is every 15 minutes, on Professional every 2 minutes, and on Team and Enterprise every minute. Obeatow does not offer an instant trigger, and the type is set by the app, so it cannot be switched from the editor. On paid plans you can also run a check by hand from the editor when you are testing.
04What do you need to connect an Obeatow account?
An Obeatow account, plus read access to anything you do not own but want the Zap to read. The connection takes three moves: open Apps in Zapier and click + Add connection, search for Obeatow and confirm with Add connection, then sign in to Obeatow in the tab that opens and grant Zapier access. Once linked, the same connection serves every Zap that starts from Obeatow, so it only has to be done once per account.
05Why don't older Obeatow reports show up in Zapier?
Because a Zap only reacts to what happens after it is switched on. The submissions already stored in Obeatow are not picked up when you publish, and Zapier will not go back to fetch them later. During setup, the trigger test does bring back the three most recent submissions, but only so you can map the fields on a real example; they are not sent anywhere. If you need the history in your tracker or spreadsheet, treat that migration as a separate job.
06What if the Obeatow operation you want is missing?
Then Zapier cannot do it with this app today. The integration offers one trigger, New Submission, and no action or search, so creating, updating or closing a submission from another tool is out of reach. The usual answer is to accept the one-way flow: reports leave Obeatow, and their follow-up lives in the destination tool. If writing back into Obeatow matters, that need goes beyond what this integration offers, and it is worth checking it with the team that runs Obeatow.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for Obeatow?
It depends on the criterion that matters to you. On setup effort, a one-trigger Zapier integration is about as simple as automation gets, and the free plan covers a two-step Zap. On speed, the polling interval of your Zapier plan sets the delay. On flexibility, a scenario that needs filters or several destinations moves you to a paid plan, which is where comparing pricing models and hosting options across the three platforms becomes worth the time.
