Overview

What the AX Semantics Zapier integration actually does for you

It links your AX Semantics account to the rest of your tools without code. AX Semantics writes texts from data for you; Zapier carries those texts out the moment they exist, or feeds new data in so the next text can be written. Two operations, one in each direction, and that is the whole menu.

Three results people usually build. First, a finished text lands where your team works: New Generated Content fires and the next step drops the copy into a sheet, a shop or a message. Second, a product list kept elsewhere becomes AX Semantics documents: a row added in another tool runs Create / Update Document, so the data is ready for generation without a manual import. Third, both halves chained in two separate Zaps: data in, text out, and nobody copies anything by hand.

Now what Zapier does not do here. There is no search, so a Zap cannot look up an existing document before writing. There is no delete, no way to start a generation run on demand, and no step to read a project's settings. If your process needs one of those, it happens inside AX Semantics, not in the Zap.

One more limit worth saying out loud: a Zap only sees what happens after you publish it (more on that below). The same app also has an AX Semantics Make integration page if you want to compare the two editors, and our Make vs Zapier comparison lays out the differences criterion by criterion.

Vocabulary

Zapier vocabulary in one minute

Seven Zapier words, each tied back to what AX Semantics does: texts generated from data, and documents that feed them.

Zap
One automation in Zapier. Here, a text that AX Semantics finishes, or a row elsewhere, opens it, and the steps after it run on every occurrence.
Trigger
The starting event. On the AX Semantics side there is one: a newly generated text in the collection you pick.
Action
The work done after the start. Writing a document into an AX Semantics collection is one; posting the text in another tool is another.
Task
Zapier's billing unit: one action that succeeds. Each document written or text forwarded by a step is one task on your plan.
Polling vs instant
A polling trigger waits for Zapier's next scheduled check. An instant one is pushed by the app, which is how New Generated Content behaves.
Filter
A gate step: what AX Semantics sends goes further only if it meets your rule, such as a text that is not empty. Otherwise the run stops.
Connection
Your AX Semantics login, linked to Zapier one time. The trigger and the document action then both pick it from a list.
Cost

What it really costs

AX Semantics is not a premium app, so it works from the free plan. The bill depends on actions, never on the trigger.

  • Triggerfree, never counted
  • Each successful action1 task
  • Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps
  • Premium appno

The trigger never costs a task, and waiting for new texts costs nothing either. Each action that succeeds counts one task; an action that fails is not counted. The free plan gives you 100 tasks a month and Zaps of two steps only: one trigger, one action. Add a filter or a second action and it becomes a multi-step Zap, which needs a paid plan. The interval grid below is for polling triggers; the AX Semantics trigger is instant, so it skips it.

Connect

Connect your AX Semantics account

  1. 01

    Open your Apps page

In your Zapier account, go to Apps, then click + Add connection. You need an existing AX Semantics account first, plus access to any team or project you do not own yourself.

  2. 02

    Find AX Semantics

Type the name in the search box of the dialog, pick AX Semantics from the results, then click Add connection. A new browser tab opens on the AX Semantics side.

  3. 03

    Sign in and grant access

Log in to AX Semantics in that tab and allow Zapier to use the account. The connection is then saved, and every later step that uses AX Semantics picks it from a list.

First Zap

Your first Zap: every new text logged in a sheet

GoalEach text AX Semantics generates lands as a new row in a review sheet, ready for a human check.

  1. 01

    Set the trigger

Create a Zap, pick AX Semantics as the app and New Generated Content as the event, then choose the Team, Project and Collection to watch.

  2. 02

    Test the trigger

Run the test: Zapier brings back the three most recent texts of that collection, so you map the next steps on a real one instead of a guess.

  3. 03

    Add a filter (paid plan)

From the plus icon add Filter and let only texts with content through. This makes the Zap multi-step, so skip it if you are on the free plan.

  4. 04

    Add the sheet step

Add the action in your review sheet and map the generated text and its name into the columns. Test the step and open the sheet to read what arrived.

  5. 05

    Publish

Click Publish to switch the Zap on. From then on, every text that AX Semantics finishes in that collection shows up in the sheet by itself.

Triggers

The AX Semantics trigger

1 event starts a Zap when something happens in AX Semantics, and one of them is instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.

1

New Generated Content

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new content is generated.”

Starts your Zap each time AX Semantics finishes writing a text in the collection you chose, and hands that text to the next step. It is the exit door: whatever AX Semantics produces can go straight to a shop, a sheet or a teammate without anyone copying it.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
you want fresh product descriptions published or reviewed as soon as they come out of generation.
Watch out
you must pick a Team, a Project and a Collection, and the Zap only listens to that one collection, so a second collection needs a second Zap.
Actions

The AX Semantics action

AX Semantics gives you 1 action. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Create / Update Document

Action

In Zapier“Creates / Updates a Document.”

Writes a record into an AX Semantics collection as a document; the same step covers creating and updating. That is how outside data becomes material for generation.

When to use it
your catalog lives in another tool and you want AX Semantics kept in step with it.
Watch out
besides Team, Project and Collection, Uid and Name are required, so map them from fields that are never blank in the source.
When it breaks

When it breaks

Zapier attaches no help article to AX Semantics, so the traps below are the general ones that hit this app too.

Most problems are not errors at all. The Zap does exactly what it was told, just not what you meant. If a Zap misbehaves for good, our Zapier troubleshooting page walks through the next checks.

  • Old texts never show up

A Zap only reacts to what happens after you publish it. Texts generated before that stay where they are; moving the backlog is a separate job.
  • A loop that eats your tasks

If one Zap writes documents into the very collection another of your Zaps watches, each run can set off the next one and burn through the task count fast.
  • A bulk run held back

When a trigger suddenly returns a huge batch, say after regenerating a whole catalog, Zapier's flood protection can hold those items back.
  • A document step that fails on a blank field

Create / Update Document needs a Uid and a Name on every run. If the source row leaves one empty, the step fails: no task is billed, but nothing reaches AX Semantics.

FAQ

AX Semantics Zapier integration: questions

01Is the AX Semantics Zapier integration free?
Yes, on the Zapier side it works from the free plan, because AX Semantics is not a premium app. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, but each Zap is limited to two steps: one trigger and one action. That is enough for a Zap that sends every generated text to one other tool. As soon as you want a filter or a second action, the Zap becomes multi-step and needs a paid plan. Your AX Semantics subscription is a separate matter that this page does not cover.
02How many tasks does it use?
One task per action that succeeds, nothing for the trigger. A Zap built on New Generated Content with one action costs one task per generated text. A Zap with three actions costs three per run. An action that fails is not counted. Waiting for new content costs nothing, however often texts come in. So the real driver of your bill is the number of texts AX Semantics produces in the watched collection, multiplied by the number of actions in the Zap that follows.
03Does it work in real time?
Yes for the trigger. New Generated Content is an instant trigger: AX Semantics tells Zapier the moment a text is generated, so the Zap starts right away whatever your plan. The polling interval of the free plan, 15 minutes, does not apply to it. In the editor, a Zap built on an instant trigger shows a lightning bolt. For the second direction, writing documents with Create / Update Document, the speed depends on the trigger of the app that starts that Zap: instant if it is instant, otherwise the interval of your plan.
04What does it take to connect an AX Semantics account?
An AX Semantics account, plus access to the teams and projects the Zap will touch. The connection itself takes three moves: open Apps in Zapier and click + Add connection, search AX Semantics and click Add connection, then sign in and grant access in the tab that opens. Both operations then ask for a Team, a Project and a Collection, so the account has to see the right ones or the lists stay empty.
05Why does Create / Update Document fail?
Usually because a required field arrived empty. The action asks for five of them: Team, Project and Collection to say where the document goes, then Uid and Name for the document itself. The first three are picked once in the editor; Uid and Name are often mapped from the source app, and a row with a blank cell makes that run fail. A failed action is not billed, but the data never reaches AX Semantics. Test with a real record and map Uid and Name from fields that are always filled.
06What if the operation you need does not exist?
Then the Zap cannot do it, and the work stays inside AX Semantics. The integration offers one trigger and one action, with no search, no delete and no way to start a generation from Zapier. A common workaround is to split the job: Zapier moves data in and texts out, and everything in between is handled in AX Semantics itself. If the missing step is central to the process, it is worth comparing with other automation tools before building.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for AX Semantics?
It depends on your criteria, not on a winner. On Zapier, the AX Semantics trigger fires instantly even on the free plan, you pay per successful action, and a filter or a second action needs a paid plan. Make has its own AX Semantics page, so the first check is which operations each tool offers for this app. n8n is the third option to look at if your team is comfortable with a more technical tool. Then weigh how many texts you generate and how many steps each run needs against the price of each option.
