Overview

What the FraudLabs Pro Zapier integration does for your store

The FraudLabs Pro Zapier integration links your fraud-screening account to the other apps your store runs on, with no code. FraudLabs Pro decides which payments look risky. Zapier carries that decision to the people and tools that have to act on it: a team chat, a spreadsheet, a help desk. Four events can start the automation, and one step can push an order in for screening.

Three typical results. An alert as soon as a risky payment is refused: High Risk Decline posts the case in a channel, so the order team hears about it before packing anything. A trail of every status move: Status Changed adds one row per change to a spreadsheet, and finance gets a history without exporting a thing. A screening request straight from your order flow: Screen Order takes an order that landed in another app and submits it to FraudLabs Pro, provided that app hands over the buyer's IP address.

What Zapier does not do here. It cannot look anything up in FraudLabs Pro, because the integration has no search. It cannot approve an order or edit a transaction either (the only action is the screening one). And it never replays the past: a Zap sees only what happens after you switch it on.

Vocabulary

Zapier vocabulary in one minute

Eight words come back on every line of this page. Here they are in plain English.

Zap
The automation you build in Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time the trigger event occurs.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts a Zap, here a FraudLabs Pro event such as a declined payment. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it.
Action
What the Zap does after it starts: the step that writes, sends or moves something, like posting a message or screening an order.
Task
The unit Zapier bills. One action your Zap completes successfully is one task, and the allowance on your plan counts those.
Polling vs instant
Polling: Zapier checks the app on a timer. Instant: the app calls Zapier itself when the event happens. All four triggers here are instant.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap go on only when what arrived meets the condition you set, and stops it right there otherwise.
Connection
Your FraudLabs Pro account, linked to Zapier once and then reused by every step that works with FraudLabs Pro.
Multi-step Zap
Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A second action or a filter turns it into one, and it then requires a paid plan.
Cost

What a FraudLabs Pro Zap really costs

The trigger never costs a task, and neither does the waiting. Only a completed action is billed: each one that succeeds counts once, and one that fails is not counted.

  • Premium appNo, works on the free plan
  • Free plan100 tasks a month, two steps per Zap
  • Triggers4 instant, 0 polling

FraudLabs Pro is not a premium app, so it runs on the free plan: 100 tasks a month, unlimited Zaps, two steps per Zap. Add a filter or a second action and the Zap goes multi-step, which needs a paid plan. The interval grid only concerns polling triggers. This app has none, so nothing here waits for a check. Count one task per run for a one-action Zap, two for a two-action Zap: a store with many declines should size its plan on that.

Connect

Connect FraudLabs Pro to Zapier in three steps

  1. 01

Open Apps and add a connection

In your Zapier account, open the Apps page and click + Add connection. You need a FraudLabs Pro account first, plus read or write access to anything in it that you do not own and want the Zap to touch.

  2. 02

    Pick FraudLabs Pro

Type FraudLabs Pro in the search box of the dialog, select it, then click Add connection. A new tab opens on the FraudLabs Pro side, where you sign in with the account you want to automate.

  3. 03

    Sign in and grant access

Log in to FraudLabs Pro in that tab and grant Zapier access to the account. The connection is saved once, and every later step that uses FraudLabs Pro reuses it, in this Zap and in the next ones.

First Zap

Your first Zap: status changes posted to Slack

GoalWarn the order team in Slack when a FraudLabs Pro transaction changes status, but only for the status that needs a human to look.

  1. 01

Create the Zap, pick the trigger

Start a new Zap, choose FraudLabs Pro as the app and Status Changed as the event, then select the connection you just made. No interval to set: this trigger is instant.

  2. 02

    Test the trigger

Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent items from your FraudLabs Pro account, so you work on a real transaction. Note how the status reads in that sample.

  3. 03

    Add the filter

Click the plus icon, add Filter, then fill the three boxes: the status field, the rule, and the value you noted. Match the rule type to that value (text or number), or the filter never passes.

  4. 04

    Add the Slack message

Add Slack with Send Channel Message, pick the channel, and map the transaction details from the trigger into the text. Each message posted counts as one task.

  5. 05

    Test, then publish

Test the Slack step and read what came back in the channel. Then click Publish to switch the Zap on. The filter makes it multi-step, so this Zap needs a paid plan.

Triggers

FraudLabs Pro triggers

4 events start a Zap when something happens in FraudLabs Pro, and 4 of them are instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.

1

User Status Changed

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a FraudLabs Pro user transaction status changes.”

This one starts a Zap whenever the status of a FraudLabs Pro user transaction changes. The change reaches your other tools without anyone refreshing a dashboard to spot it.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
the person in charge of account security gets an email each time a user transaction moves to a new status.
Watch out
its sibling Status Changed sounds almost the same, and the official labels only say this one concerns user transactions. Test both and compare the samples before you choose.
2

High Risk Decline

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a high risk payment is declined.”

A payment that FraudLabs Pro judges high risk gets declined, and that refusal kicks off the Zap. It is the shortest path from a blocked card to a message somebody actually reads.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
customer service hears about the refusal before the buyer writes in to ask why checkout failed.
Watch out
it reacts to declines of high-risk payments and nothing else. Any other move between statuses belongs to Status Changed, so pick that one for a full log.
3

SMS Verification

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when SMS verification is required.”

Some transactions need the buyer to confirm by text message before going further. When FraudLabs Pro decides such a check is required, the Zap gets going.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
a card lands on the support board, so an agent knows a shopper is stuck on that extra check and can reach out.
Watch out
the trigger tells you a verification is needed, not how it ended. Do not let a later step treat the order as cleared just because this Zap ran.
4

Status Changed

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a FraudLabs Pro transaction status changes.”

Every time a FraudLabs Pro transaction moves from one status to another, this trigger hands it to Zapier. It is the broadest of the four, which makes it the natural base for a log or a dashboard.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
append one row per change to a Google Sheets file that finance reviews when closing the books.
Watch out
it fires on every change, not on one status you chose. A busy store uses tasks fast unless a filter keeps only the statuses that matter.
Actions

FraudLabs Pro action

FraudLabs Pro gives you 1 action. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Screen Order

Action

In Zapier“Screens an order.”

Screen Order submits an order to FraudLabs Pro for a fraud check, straight from whichever app received it, with no copying between windows.

When to use it
a new order in your shop or a booking form turns into a screening request as soon as the Zap runs.
Watch out
IP Address is required. If the app upstream does not pass the buyer's IP, the step has nothing valid to send.
When it breaks

When a FraudLabs Pro Zap breaks

Zapier attaches no help article to FraudLabs Pro, and no app-specific limit is documented. The traps below come from how Zapier itself behaves.

Four situations to know before switching the Zap on, all of them rooted in how Zapier handles triggers, required fields and filters.

  • Old transactions stay where they are

A Zap only reacts to what happens after you turn it on. Last week's declines and status changes are not picked up; moving that backlog is a separate job.
  • A sudden flood gets held back

If FraudLabs Pro sends a huge batch in one go, after a bulk import for example, Zapier's flood protection can hold those runs back instead of firing them all.
  • Screen Order with no IP address

IP Address is a required field. When the app upstream leaves it empty, the action cannot go through and the order stays unscreened, even if no task is billed.
  • A filter that never passes

Filter rules are typed: a text rule works on text, a number rule on numbers. Pick the wrong type and every run stops at the filter, silently.

FAQ

FraudLabs Pro and Zapier: frequent questions

01Is the FraudLabs Pro Zapier integration free?
Yes, within the limits of the free plan. FraudLabs Pro is not a premium app, so connecting it does not require a paid plan. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, but each Zap stops at two steps: one trigger and one action. That covers a FraudLabs Pro trigger followed by a single message, row or card in another app. The moment you add a filter or a second action, the Zap becomes multi-step and a paid plan is needed. Count your monthly declines and status changes before relying on the free allowance.
02How many tasks does a FraudLabs Pro Zap use?
One per successful action, and nothing for the trigger. When High Risk Decline fires, Zapier does not bill the event itself. It bills the message or the spreadsheet row that follows, once per run, if it succeeds. A Zap with two actions uses two tasks each time. An action that fails is not counted. Waiting costs nothing either, however long the Zap sits idle between events. On the free plan that means 100 completed actions a month across all your Zaps, which a store with frequent status changes can reach quickly.
03Do FraudLabs Pro triggers fire instantly?
Yes. All four triggers are instant: FraudLabs Pro tells Zapier as soon as the event happens, so the Zap starts right away on any plan. The polling grid, 15 minutes on Free, 2 on Professional and 1 on Team and Enterprise, only applies to triggers that Zapier checks on a timer, and this app has none. In the editor, a Zap built on an instant trigger shows a lightning bolt. The type comes from the app's own API, so it cannot be switched from the editor, which here works in your favour.
04What does connecting FraudLabs Pro to Zapier require?
A FraudLabs Pro account and a Zapier account. From the Apps page in Zapier, click + Add connection, search for FraudLabs Pro, click Add connection, then sign in to FraudLabs Pro in the tab that opens and grant Zapier access. If the Zap should touch anything in that account you do not own, read or write access to it is required too. The connection is saved once and reused by every later step. If Screen Order is part of the plan, also check where the required IP Address will come from.
05Why does Screen Order fail in a Zap?
Most often because the IP Address is missing. It is a required field on Screen Order, so the app that starts the Zap has to supply the buyer's IP. Run the trigger test of that app, look at the sample it brings back, and check that an IP value is there before mapping it. If none appears, the action has nothing valid to submit. A failed action is not billed as a task, but the order also goes unscreened, and that is the cost that actually hurts a store.
06What if the FraudLabs Pro operation you need is missing?
Then Zapier does not offer it for this app today. The integration has exactly four triggers, User Status Changed, High Risk Decline, SMS Verification and Status Changed, plus one action, Screen Order, and no search step. A Zap cannot look up a transaction or edit one. The practical route is to start from one of these triggers and hand the rest to another app as a further action. Keep in mind that a second action makes the Zap multi-step and requires a paid plan. Checking other platforms is the remaining option.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for FraudLabs Pro?
It depends on what you weigh, not on a single winner. On the Zapier side, the criteria for this app are clear: four instant triggers that fire right away on any plan, one screening action, no search, and a free plan capped at 100 tasks and two steps per Zap. If those five operations cover your flow and nobody on the team writes code, that is a solid fit. If the flow needs something they do not offer, compare each platform's own list of FraudLabs Pro operations and its pricing before deciding.
