LionDesk Zapier integrationAutomate LionDesk with Zapier.
The LionDesk Zapier integration gives you 1 trigger, 5 actions and 1 search. Enough to send each new contact elsewhere, feed contacts in from your other tools, then tag them, note them, score them and drop them into a campaign without opening LionDesk.

What the LionDesk Zapier integration does for you
LionDesk is a CRM built for sales professionals: clients, transactions and marketing in one place. Zapier links it to your other apps. A new LionDesk contact can set off work elsewhere, and what happens elsewhere can create, enrich or move a contact in LionDesk, with no copy and paste in between.
Three results come up most often, each tied to real operations.
A campaign that starts by itself. When New Contact spots someone fresh in your account, Start Campaign puts that person into a campaign you already built. Nobody has to remember to enroll them.
Contacts that arrive already sorted. Add Tags and Update Hotness label each contact once it lands, so your lists and your follow-up order make sense without a manual pass.
A history that writes itself. Add Comment leaves a note on an existing contact each time something happens in another tool, so the record tells the whole story when you open it.
What Zapier does not do here: there is no action to delete a contact, and no trigger for changes to an existing one. Only the arrival of a new contact starts a Zap from LionDesk. Every enrichment action needs the contact's LionDesk id, so a Zap that starts outside LionDesk usually runs Find Contact first. And a Zap never picks up contacts that existed before it was switched on.

Zapier vocabulary, in plain words
Zapier has its own words. Here they are once, so the rest of the page reads cleanly.
- Zap
- The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time that trigger event happens.
- Trigger
- The event in an app that starts the Zap. In LionDesk it is a new contact; once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it.
- Action
- What the Zap does after it starts: the step that writes, sends or moves something for you, like tagging a LionDesk contact.
- Task
- The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. The count on your plan is a count of those.
- Polling vs instant
- A polling trigger is checked by Zapier on a timer. An instant one is reported by the app the moment it happens. LionDesk's is polling.
- Filter
- A step that lets the Zap go on only when what arrived meets the condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
- Search step
- A step that looks up something already stored in an app, such as a LionDesk contact, so later steps can use what it found.
- Connection
- Your LionDesk account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every step and every Zap that touches LionDesk.
What a LionDesk Zap costs
LionDesk is not a premium app, so it runs on the free plan. Your bill depends on the actions, never on the trigger.
- Premium appNo, works on the free plan
- Tasks on the free plan100 per month
- Steps per Zap on the free planTwo: one trigger, one action
- Cost of the trigger and of checksZero tasks
Checking LionDesk for new contacts costs nothing, however often it happens. Each action that succeeds costs one task: a Zap that tags a contact and starts a campaign uses two per contact. Failed actions are not counted. The free plan only builds two-step Zaps, one trigger and one action. Add a filter, a Find Contact step or a second action and the Zap becomes multi-step, which needs a paid plan. The grid shows how long a new contact can wait before Zapier notices it.
Connect LionDesk to Zapier in three moves
- 01
Find LionDesk
Open Apps in your Zapier account and click + Add connection. Search for LionDesk in the dialog and pick it. You need an existing LionDesk account, with access to the contacts you want the Zap to touch.
- 02
Sign in
Click Add connection. A tab opens on LionDesk: sign in with the account that holds your contacts and campaigns. Every Zap reuses this connection, so pick the right account if you have more than one.
- 03
Grant access
Accept Zapier's access request in that tab. It closes and LionDesk appears on your Apps page, ready to be picked as the trigger or the action app in any Zap.
Your first Zap: new contacts straight into a campaign
GoalEvery new LionDesk contact that matches your condition is added to an existing campaign, without anyone clicking.
- 01
Pick the trigger
Create a Zap, choose LionDesk and the New Contact event, then select the LionDesk connection you just added. This is the only LionDesk trigger, so every Zap of this kind starts the same way.
- 02
Test it on a real contact
Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent contacts in your account; pick one so every later step is mapped on real data.
- 03
Add a filter
Use the plus icon to add Filter, then set the field to check, the rule and the value. Choose a text rule for text and a number rule for numbers, or the filter never passes.
- 04
Add Start Campaign
Add LionDesk again as the action, choose Start Campaign, map the contact's LionDesk id from the trigger and pick the campaign from the list.
- 05
Test, then publish
Test the action and read what came back, then publish. The filter makes this a multi-step Zap, so it needs a paid plan; without it, the Zap fits the free plan.
The LionDesk trigger
1 event starts a Zap when something happens in LionDesk. Zapier checks for them at the interval your plan allows.
New Contact
Polling triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a new contact is added to your LionDesk account.”
Starts your Zap whenever a contact is added to your LionDesk account, whether you typed it in or another tool created it, and hands that contact to the steps that follow. It is the only trigger LionDesk offers on Zapier.
LionDesk actions
LionDesk gives you 5 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.
Operations index
Add Comment
ActionIn Zapier“Adds a comment to an existing contact.”
Writes a note on a contact that already exists, using its LionDesk id and the text you map in.
Add Tags
ActionIn Zapier“Assign tags to a contact”
Puts one or more tags on a contact, identified by its LionDesk id, and can wipe the old ones first if you tick the option to remove existing tags.
Create Contact
ActionIn Zapier“Creates a new contact in your LionDesk account based on email address. If a contact already exists with the submitted email address, their record will be updated. NOTE: This action will create a unique contact for every submission that does not have an email address. This will result in multiple contacts being created for the same info if it is submitted multiple times without an email address. Please use the "Find Contact" action in conjunction with "Create Contact" if you want to avoid this issue.”
Adds a contact to LionDesk from another app, matched on email address: if that email already exists, the record is updated instead of duplicated.
Start Campaign
ActionIn Zapier“Start an existing campaign for a contact.”
Enrolls a contact in a campaign you already set up in LionDesk, from the contact's id and the campaign you select.
Update Hotness
ActionIn Zapier“Update the hotness of a contact”
Changes how hot a contact is rated in LionDesk, from its id and the hotness value you choose.
The LionDesk search
1 search step looks for data that already exists in LionDesk, so a later step can use it.
A search step finds a contact that already exists and passes its details on, which is how a Zap that starts outside LionDesk gets the id that most actions require. In the editor, searches sit at the bottom of the Action event list under SEARCH.
Find Contact
SearchIn Zapier“Find a contact in LionDesk using the contact ID or mobile number. NOTE: If your lead doesn't have an email address, we recommend using this action before you use "Create Contact" to check if the contact already exists. If your contact doesn't have an email address, "Create Contact" will create duplicate contacts without a lookup.”
Looks up a LionDesk contact by its contact ID or its mobile number and hands the result to the next steps.
The three settings every search exposes
- Successful if no search results are found?Left on its default, a search that finds nothing stops the Zap and the steps that needed it are skipped. Switched on, the Zap carries on empty-handed.
- Create X if it doesn't exist yet? This box turns a search into find or create. LionDesk offers no such variant on Zapier, so you will not see it here.
- If multiple search results are found?Keep the first match (the default), stop the Zap, or pass all matches on at once.
When a LionDesk Zap breaks
Zapier attaches no help article of its own to LionDesk. The problems below come from how Zapier works with every app, plus the way LionDesk's actions are built.
Most of these are not bugs: the Zap does what Zapier promises, just not what you expected. If a run truly fails, the Zapier troubleshooting page is the next stop.
The Zap keeps restarting itself
A Zap that creates contacts in LionDesk while New Contact watches the same account sets itself off again and again, and burns through your tasks fast.Old contacts are ignored
A Zap only reacts to what happens after it is switched on. Contacts that already existed are never picked up; moving them is a separate job.Duplicates without an email
Create Contact matches on email. With no email it creates a new contact on every run, so the same lead can appear several times.A big import stalls
When a trigger suddenly returns a huge batch, after a bulk import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold those runs back.A contact runs only once
Zapier remembers what it has already seen on a polling trigger, so the same contact never starts the Zap twice. That is by design. The search stops everything
If Find Contact finds nothing and its setting is left on the default, the Zap stops there and the steps after it are skipped.
