Overview

What the Loyalzoo Zapier integration does for your counter

Loyalzoo gives independent retailers and eateries a loyalty program without plastic cards. Through Zapier it reports what happens in your scheme, such as check-ins, points, rewards, memberships and charges, and it accepts instructions from other tools: add a customer, give points, move a counter, send a coupon.

Online rewards that turn into real coupons. When a customer redeems a reward from the web or the mobile app, Reward Redeemed Online can feed Provision Coupon Code, which creates the coupon in your store and emails it. Nobody on the floor has to type a code.

Points that follow every sale. Give Points accepts the amount from another tool and credits the right customer by email, phone or ID. If the person is not in Loyalzoo yet, the action creates them, so a new face at the till still earns.

A customer list that stays in sync. New Customer Created, Customer Updated and the two membership triggers keep your mailing list or spreadsheet aligned with Loyalzoo, while Search for Loyalty Customer via Email answers the reverse question.

What Zapier does not do here: no action deletes a customer or ends a membership, and no search offers a find-or-create variant. Two actions also depend on keys only Loyalzoo support can hand over. If you are weighing platforms, read our Make vs Zapier page alongside the Zapier review.

Vocabulary

Zapier vocabulary in one minute

Eight words carry this page. Here they are once, in plain English.

Zap
The automation you build on Zapier: one starting event, then one or more steps that run every time that event happens.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts the Zap. Once the Zap is switched on, Zapier waits for that one event.
Action
What the Zap does after it starts: the step that writes, sends or moves something for you in an app.
Task
The unit Zapier bills. One action that completes successfully is one task, and your plan is a count of those.
Instant vs polling
An instant trigger is reported by the app the moment the event happens. A polling trigger is checked by Zapier on a timer.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap carry on only when the incoming data meets a condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
Search step
A step that looks up something already stored in an app, so the following steps can reuse what it found.
Multi-step Zap
Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A filter, a search or a second action makes it one, and it then needs a paid plan.
Cost

What a Loyalzoo Zap really costs

Loyalzoo is not a premium app on Zapier, so it runs on the free plan. Only actions move the meter.

  • Premium appNo, works on the free plan
  • Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps
  • Trigger costZero tasks
  • Search or filterMakes the Zap multi-step, paid plan

A trigger costs nothing. Each action that succeeds is one task, and a failed one is not counted. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and two-step Zaps only. Adding a search, a filter or a second action makes the Zap multi-step and pushes it to a paid plan. Watch the reads too: Retrieve Customer Details, Get Merchant Info and the two exports are actions, so each run of them is a task. The interval grid below applies to polling triggers only; it does not concern Loyalzoo, whose ten triggers are all instant.

Connect

Connect your Loyalzoo account to Zapier

  1. 01

    Open Apps in Zapier

In your Zapier account, open Apps and click + Add connection. A connection is your Loyalzoo account linked once, then reused by every Zap that touches it.

  2. 02

    Find Loyalzoo

Search for Loyalzoo in the dialog, select it and click Add connection. You need an existing Loyalzoo merchant account with its login at hand; Zapier only links to it.

  3. 03

    Sign in and allow access

Sign in to Loyalzoo in the tab that opens and grant Zapier access. If someone else manages the store account, check that your login can read and change customers before you build.

First Zap

Your first Zap: turn an online reward into a coupon

GoalWhen a customer redeems a reward from the web or the mobile app, create the coupon in your store, email it to them and log the redemption in a spreadsheet.

  1. 01

    Create the Zap

Click Create, then Zap. Pick Loyalzoo and Reward Redeemed Online as the starting event, then choose the Loyalzoo connection you just created.

  2. 02

    Test the trigger

Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent redemptions of your account; if there are none, redeem a reward yourself first so you map on real data.

  3. 03

    Add Provision Coupon Code

Add Loyalzoo as the action with Provision Coupon Code. Paste the Coupon Key from Loyalzoo support and map the output of the Reward Redeemed Online step into its field.

  4. 04

    Log it in a spreadsheet

Add your spreadsheet as a second action. This makes three steps, so the Zap is multi-step and needs a paid plan; drop this step to stay on the free one.

  5. 05

    Test and publish

Test each step, read what came back, then click Publish. Rewards redeemed before that moment are not picked up, so handle those by hand.

Triggers

Loyalzoo triggers on Zapier

10 events start a Zap when something happens in Loyalzoo, and 10 of them are instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.

1

Checkin

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when customer manually checks in to your store.”

Starts the Zap when a customer checks in to your store by hand, so a visit becomes data you can act on outside Loyalzoo.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
count visits per customer in a spreadsheet, or send a short thank-you after their stop at your shop.
Watch out
only manual check-ins are covered here; points and rewards have their own triggers further down.
2

Reward Redeemed Online

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when customer redeems a reward via the Web or the mobile app.”

Reports a reward that a customer claimed through the web or the mobile app rather than at the counter. It is the only trigger whose output Provision Coupon Code asks for by name.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
pair it with Provision Coupon Code so the customer receives the coupon by email without staff involvement.
Watch out
rewards handed out by the merchant in store go through Reward Given instead.
3

Customer Updated

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when customer information is updated.”

Fires whenever the information on a customer record changes, which keeps copies of that record elsewhere from drifting out of date.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
push a new email address or phone number to your mailing list as soon as Loyalzoo has it.
Watch out
a Zap built on this trigger that runs Update Customer changes the record it is watching and can start itself again and again.
4

Membership Created

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a customer membership is created.”

Signals that a customer membership has just been set up in Loyalzoo, the starting point for anything you offer to members only.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
add the new member to a dedicated list, or open a welcome task for the team.
Watch out
if a later step needs full membership details, Get Membership retrieves them from the membership ID; it adds a search step and so a paid plan.
5

Membership Ended

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a customer membership is ended.”

Tells you a customer membership has come to an end, the moment to tidy up member-only access or try to win the person back.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
move the person from your members list to your general list, or send a come-back offer.
Watch out
Zapier offers no action to end or renew a membership; this trigger only reports the change made in Loyalzoo.
6

New Charge

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a customer's card is charged.”

Fires when a customer's card is charged through Loyalzoo, which turns each payment into an event your bookkeeping or reporting can pick up.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
record every charge as a line in a spreadsheet you keep for your own reporting.
Watch out
to see which card was used, Get Customer Payment Method needs both the customer ID and the payment method ID from this step.
7

New Counter Event

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when customer event is registered by the merchant.”

Picks up each customer event the merchant registers on a counter, the tally you keep for a specific habit you reward.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
notify the team or log the event when a regular reaches another step on a counter.
Watch out
Increase Counter writes to the same counters, so a Zap that starts here and increases a counter can loop.
8

New Customer Created

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when new customer is created in Loyalzoo.”

Hands you every new customer record created in Loyalzoo, including the ones another Zap adds.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
add each new loyalty member to your mailing list with the consent they gave.
Watch out
Create New Customer, Give Points and Increase Counter can all create customers, so a Zap that uses them after this trigger may set it off again.
9

Points Given

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when customer is given points.”

Fires each time a customer is credited with points, whoever or whatever gave them, so balances can be echoed outside Loyalzoo.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
send a short message telling the customer what they just earned.
Watch out
never pair it with Give Points in the same Zap: each credit would trigger another one and drain your tasks.
10

Reward Given

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when customer is given a reward by a merchant.”

Covers the in-store side: a reward that the merchant handed to a customer, as opposed to one claimed online.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
keep a running log of rewards handed out in store, next to the ones claimed online.
Watch out
for online redemptions and the coupon flow, use Reward Redeemed Online; this one does not feed Provision Coupon Code.
Actions

Loyalzoo actions on Zapier

Loyalzoo gives you 9 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Create New Customer

Action

In Zapier“Creates a new loyalty customer (will not duplicate if record already exists).”

Adds a loyalty customer to Loyalzoo, and does not create a duplicate if the record already exists.

When to use it
someone signs up through your website form and should be a member at their next visit.
Watch out
set the Email/Sms Communications Allowed field from the consent the person actually gave.
2

Export Latest Customer Data

Action

In Zapier“Exports the latest customer data ordered by last purchase date”

Exports your most recent customer data, sorted by last purchase date.

When to use it
you want a fresh view of who bought most recently, sent to a spreadsheet.
Watch out
it needs something to start the Zap, since an action never opens a Zap.
3

Export Latest Transaction Data

Action

In Zapier“Exports the latest transaction data”

Exports the latest transactions recorded in Loyalzoo for use in another tool.

When to use it
feed a sales summary that combines loyalty activity with your other figures.
Watch out
like the customer export, it runs only when an earlier trigger starts the Zap.
4

Retrieve Customer Details

Action

In Zapier“Retrieves customer loyalty and membership information for a provided identifier.”

Fetches a customer's loyalty and membership information from their email address, for use in the next steps.

When to use it
before an email, to quote the customer's current standing.
Watch out
Customer Email is required, and it counts as an action, so as a task.
5

Get Merchant Info

Action

In Zapier“Retrieves information about the merchant for feeding into other actions”

Pulls information about your own merchant account so later steps can reuse it.

When to use it
a message template should carry your store details without retyping them.
Watch out
it is an action, not a search, so each run costs a task.
6

Give Points

Action

In Zapier“Gives loyalty points to a specified customer (id, email or phone number required). Will create the customer if it doesn't exist.”

Credits points to a customer found by ID, email or phone number, and creates the customer if they do not exist yet.

When to use it
a sale recorded in another tool should earn points, usually the net amount spent.
Watch out
Points is required and must be a number, so map an amount, not a text label.
7

Increase Counter

Action

In Zapier“Increases event counter for a specified customer (id, email or phone number required). Will create the customer if it doesn't exist.”

Moves a customer's event counter up by 1, or down with -1, and creates the customer if needed.

When to use it
another tool records a habit you reward, and the counter should follow it.
Watch out
the Subscription Event Id is required and only Loyalzoo can give it to you.
8

Provision Coupon Code

Action

In Zapier“Creates a coupon in your store for the customer and emails them”

Creates a coupon in your store for the customer and emails it to them.

When to use it
right after Reward Redeemed Online, so an online claim becomes a usable coupon.
Watch out
it requires a Loyalzoo Coupon Key from Loyalzoo support, and the output of the Reward Redeemed Online step.
9

Update Customer

Action

In Zapier“Updates an existing loyalty customer record (Loyalzoo customer ID required).”

Changes an existing customer record, identified by its Loyalzoo customer ID.

When to use it
a customer corrects their details in another tool and Loyalzoo should match.
Watch out
the ID must come from an earlier Loyalzoo step in the same Zap, so start with a Loyalzoo trigger or a search.
Searches

Loyalzoo searches on Zapier

3 search steps look for data that already exists in Loyalzoo, so a later step can use it.

Searches sit at the bottom of the action list in the editor, under SEARCH. Each one starts from a specific value, an ID or an email, and none offers a find-or-create variant. Three settings decide what happens when the result is not what you expected.

1

Get Customer Payment Method

Search

In Zapier“For a customer ID and payment method ID, return the payment method.”

Returns a stored payment method from a customer ID and a payment method ID.

When to use it
after New Charge, to note which card was used.
Watch out
both IDs are required, so an earlier step must carry them.
2

Search for Loyalty Customer via Email

Search

In Zapier“Search for Loyalty Customer via Email”

Looks up a loyalty customer from their email address and passes the record on.

When to use it
you only have an email from a form and need the Loyalzoo customer ID for Update Customer.
Watch out
if nobody matches, the Zap stops unless you change the first setting above.
3

Get Membership

Search

In Zapier“Retrieves a membership for a given ID”

Fetches a membership from its ID, with the details the trigger may not include.

When to use it
after Membership Created, to read the full membership before notifying the team.
Watch out
Membership ID is required; it does not search by customer name or email.

The three settings every search exposes

  1. Successful if no search results are found?
Left on its default, a search that finds nothing stops the Zap and the steps that needed it are skipped. Switch it on and the Zap carries on empty-handed.
  2. Create X if it doesn't exist yet?
This box turns a search into find-or-create. None of the three Loyalzoo searches offers it, so a missing customer has to be created by a separate action.
  3. If multiple search results are found?
Keep the first match, which is the default, stop the Zap, or pass all the matches on at once.
When it breaks

When a Loyalzoo Zap breaks

Zapier documents no Loyalzoo-specific errors or rate limits. Breakdowns come from the way Zaps behave in general, plus the keys and IDs some Loyalzoo actions require.

These six cases are the ones to rule out first. Once you have ruled them out, our Zapier troubleshooting page is the next stop.

  • Missing Coupon Key or event ID

Provision Coupon Code and Increase Counter cannot run without values that only Loyalzoo support provides. Ask for them before testing.
  • Update Customer without an ID

Update Customer only accepts a Loyalzoo customer ID from a previous Loyalzoo step. Add a trigger or a search that supplies it.
  • A Zap that sets itself off

Give Points after Points Given, or Update Customer after Customer Updated, writes where the trigger watches. The Zap refires and burns tasks.
  • No backfill of the past

A Zap reacts only to what happens after you publish it. Existing customers, points and rewards are never sent; moving them is a separate job.
  • A bulk import that stalls

Importing a large customer list into Loyalzoo can make a trigger return a huge batch at once, which Zapier's flood protection can hold back.
  • A search that finds nobody

With default settings, a search with no result stops the Zap and skips what follows. Decide in advance what should happen.

FAQ

Loyalzoo Zapier integration: frequent questions

01Is the Loyalzoo Zapier integration free?
Yes, for two-step Zaps. Loyalzoo is not a premium app, so it works on the free plan with 100 tasks a month. The limit most people discover late is that the free plan only builds one trigger plus one action. A Zap that adds a search such as Get Membership, a filter or a second action becomes multi-step and needs a paid plan. The trigger itself never costs a task, on any plan.
02How many tasks does a Loyalzoo Zap use?
One per successful action, every time the Zap runs, and nothing for the trigger. A check-in that leads to one email costs one task. A redeemed reward that creates a coupon and then adds a spreadsheet row costs two. Retrieve Customer Details, Get Merchant Info and the two exports are actions in Zapier's list, so they count too. Failed actions are not counted against your plan, so a test that errors costs nothing.
03Is Loyalzoo instant on Zapier?
Yes, all ten Loyalzoo triggers are instant. Loyalzoo itself alerts Zapier when a customer checks in, earns points, redeems a reward, changes details, joins or leaves a membership, or is charged, and the Zap starts at once. This holds on every plan, the free one included, so the polling interval grid shown on Zapier's pricing does not affect this app. In the editor, a lightning bolt marks these Zaps, which is a quick way to confirm it.
04What do you need to connect Loyalzoo to Zapier?
A Loyalzoo merchant account and a Zapier account. The connection starts from the Apps page of Zapier with + Add connection, then you sign in to Loyalzoo and grant access. For two actions you also need values from Loyalzoo support: a Loyalzoo Coupon Key for Provision Coupon Code and a Subscription Event Id for Increase Counter. Without them, those steps cannot be set up, whatever your Zapier plan, so send that request before you start building.
05Why does Update Customer reject the customer?
Because it only takes a Loyalzoo customer ID coming from an earlier Loyalzoo step in the same Zap. Typing an ID by hand or mapping an email into that field will not work. If the Zap starts in another tool and only has an email, add Search for Loyalty Customer via Email first and map the ID it returns into Update Customer. That search makes the Zap multi-step, so it needs a paid plan.
06What if the Loyalzoo operation you need is not on Zapier?
Then it is not available through Zapier today, and no hidden setting will reveal it. The list has 22 operations: ten triggers, nine actions and three searches. There is, for instance, no action to delete a customer or end a membership. The options are to ask Loyalzoo whether the operation is planned, or to compare what other automation platforms offer for Loyalzoo before building a workaround around the missing step.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for Loyalzoo?
Choose on criteria, not on a ranking. Coverage first: Zapier exposes 22 Loyalzoo operations, including the coupon flow and the counters, so check that the other platform offers the specific ones you rely on. Then budget: on Zapier the trigger is free and every successful action is a task, reads such as Get Merchant Info included, against 100 tasks a month on the free plan. Finally, the shape of your flows: anything that needs a search, a filter or a second action is multi-step on Zapier and needs a paid plan.
