What the Markup AI Zapier integration does
Markup AI provides content agents that check text against your brand rules: voice, tone, approved terms and compliance. Plugging it into Zapier means text written elsewhere can be sent for that check automatically. There is a single action, so Markup AI always sits after another app in the Zap, never at the start.
Three results you can get from Run Content Analysis Agents. A review on every draft: when a new post is saved in your CMS, the text goes to the agent you picked, and a detailed report comes back for the editor. A report your team actually sees: add a second action after the agent and the result is posted in your team chat. A consistent check across channels: the same agent can run on product descriptions from one app and on newsletter copy from another, one Zap per source.
What Zapier does not do here. It cannot start a Zap from Markup AI, because there is no trigger: a finished analysis does not set anything off on its own. There is no search step either, so a Zap cannot look up a past report. And Zapier does not rewrite your text in the source app; the action returns a report, and what you do with it is up to the steps that follow.

Zapier terms in one minute
Seven words used throughout this page, each in one plain line.
- Zap
- The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run every time that trigger event happens.
- Trigger
- The event in an app that starts the Zap. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it. Markup AI offers no trigger.
- Action
- What the Zap does once it has started: the step that writes, sends or moves something. Here, running a content agent.
- Task
- The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. Your plan allowance is a count of those.
- Polling vs instant
- A polling trigger is checked by Zapier on a timer. An instant trigger is reported by the app itself the moment it happens.
- Filter
- A step that lets the Zap continue only when the data that arrived meets the condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
- Search step
- A step that looks up something already stored in an app so later steps can use it. Markup AI has none on Zapier.
What a Markup AI Zap costs
Markup AI is not a premium app, so it runs on the free Zapier plan. You pay in tasks, and each agent run is one action.
- Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps
- Premium appNo
- BilledEach successful agent run
- Report sent elsewhereA second action, paid plan
The trigger in the other app costs nothing, and neither do Zapier's checks for new data. Each Run Content Analysis Agents that succeeds counts as one task; a run that fails is not counted. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, each with two steps: one trigger, one action. Posting the report somewhere means a second action, and a filter means an extra step: either one turns the Zap into a multi-step Zap (anything beyond one trigger and one action), which needs a paid plan. The interval grid below applies to the polling trigger of the app that starts the Zap, since Markup AI has no trigger.
Connect Markup AI to Zapier in three steps
- 01
Open your connections
In your Zapier account, go to the Apps page and click + Add connection. You need a Markup AI account beforehand; Zapier links to it, it does not create it.
- 02
Select Markup AI
Type Markup AI in the search box of the dialog, select it, then click Add connection. A new browser tab opens on the Markup AI side for you to sign in.
- 03
Sign in and grant access
Log in to Markup AI in that tab and allow Zapier in. The connection (your account linked once, then reused by every step) shows on the Apps page. If the agents belong to a colleague's account, check that yours can use them.
Your first Zap: every draft checked, the report in chat
GoalEach new draft saved in your CMS is checked by a Markup AI agent, and the report is posted to your team chat.
- 01
Start from the CMS
Create a Zap and choose your CMS as the trigger app, with its new-draft event. Markup AI cannot open a Zap, so another app always comes first.
- 02
Test the trigger
Run the test: Zapier brings back the three most recent drafts of the connected account. Pick one with real text so the mapping is built on actual content.
- 03
Add the agent
Add Markup AI with Run Content Analysis Agents. Choose the Agent, then map the body of the draft into Content. Test it and read the report that comes back.
- 04
Post the report
Add your team chat with its send-message action and build the message from the report. This second action makes the Zap multi-step, so a paid plan.
- 05
Test and publish
Test the chat step once and check the message. When it reads well, click Publish: the Zap is switched on from that moment.
The Markup AI action in Zapier
Markup AI gives you 1 action. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

Hands a piece of text to one of your Markup AI agents and brings back a detailed report that the next steps of the Zap can use.
When a Markup AI Zap breaks
Zapier attaches no help article to Markup AI, and the source lists no limit specific to the app. The cases below come from how Zapier works in general.
Four cases worth reading before you publish. Each has a plain way around it. If a Zap still fails after that, our Zapier troubleshooting page is the next stop.
Earlier drafts are not checked
A Zap only reacts to what happens after it is switched on. Drafts saved before that are never sent to Markup AI; running them through is a separate job.The text arrives empty
Content is required. If the trigger app sends an item without text, the agent step cannot run, and a failed action costs no task. Check the mapping at test time.A Zap that feeds itself
If the report is written back into the very place the trigger watches, the Zap can set itself off again and again and burn tasks. Keep the report somewhere else.A bulk import held back
When the trigger app suddenly returns a huge batch, after an import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold those items back rather than run them all.
