Method CRM Zapier integrationAutomate Method CRM with Zapier.

The Method CRM Zapier integration gives you 6 triggers, 7 actions and 4 searches. All six triggers are polling ones, and Method CRM is not one of the apps Zapier keeps for paid plans: the free plan runs it, as long as each Zap stays at one trigger and one action.

Overview

What the Method CRM Zapier integration does for you

It links Method CRM, a CRM built around QuickBooks, to the other apps you use, without you copying records by hand. You build a Zap (the automation itself: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time the trigger event happens). Method CRM can start the Zap, receive what it writes, or look up a record that already exists.

Three results people usually build first. A pipeline that feeds itself: a contact form elsewhere runs Find Contact, then Add Opportunity, so a new deal shows up in Method CRM with its contact attached. A follow-up that never gets forgotten: New Opportunity starts the Zap and Add Activity books the first call for the rep. A customer list your other tools can read: New Customer or Customer Lead (QuickBooks Only) sends each new customer to a spreadsheet or a mailing tool.

Now what Zapier does not do here. None of the six triggers is instant, so nothing reaches Zapier the moment it happens: Zapier checks on a timer, and the timer depends on your plan. Every action adds something; there is no action to edit or remove a record that already exists. Several operations carry an accounting tag in their name (QuickBooks Only, Xero Only), and you pick the ones that match your account. When the list falls short, API Request (Beta) is the advanced way out.

Vocabulary

Zapier words, in plain English

Seven words come back on every line of this page. Here they are once, so the rest reads easily.

Trigger
The event in Method CRM, or in another app, that starts the Zap. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it.
Action
What the Zap does once it has started: the step that adds a contact, an activity or an opportunity for you.
Task
The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. The number on your plan is a count of those.
Polling trigger
A trigger Zapier checks on a timer. It asks the app for new items and keeps only what it has not seen yet.
Instant trigger
A trigger the app reports itself, the moment the event happens. Method CRM has none of these on Zapier.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap carry on only when what arrived meets the condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
Search step
A step that looks up a record that already exists, so the next steps can use what it found, like a contact ID.
Multi-step Zap
Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A second action, a filter or a search makes one, and it needs a paid plan.
Cost

What a Method CRM Zap really costs

Zapier bills tasks, and only actions make tasks. Watching Method CRM for new contacts costs nothing, however often Zapier checks.

  • Trigger checksFree, whatever the interval
  • Free plan100 tasks a month, unlimited Zaps, two steps each
  • Method CRMAvailable on the free plan
  • Failed actionNot counted

Each action that succeeds counts once, so a Zap with three actions eats three times the tasks of a one-action Zap. An action that fails is not counted. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and as many Zaps as you like, but each one stops at two steps. Add Find Contact before Add Opportunity, or a filter, and the Zap becomes multi-step: paid plan. The interval grid below applies to all six Method CRM triggers, since all of them are polling ones.

Connect

Connect Method CRM to Zapier

  1. 01

    Open your connections

In Zapier, go to the Apps page of your account and click + Add connection. A connection is your Method CRM account linked once, then reused by every step that uses the app.

  2. 02

    Pick Method CRM

Type Method CRM in the search box of the dialog, select it, then click Add connection. You need a Method CRM account, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch.

  3. 03

    Sign in and allow access

A new tab opens on Method CRM. Sign in with the account the Zap should act as, then grant Zapier access. From then on, every Method CRM step in your Zaps can use that connection.

First Zap

Your first Zap: big Method CRM deals announced to the team

GoalEach new opportunity that meets your condition is posted to your team chat.

  1. 01

    Create the Zap

Create a Zap and pick Method CRM with the New Opportunity event. With a filter in the middle, this Zap has three steps, so it needs a paid plan.

  2. 02

    Test the trigger

Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent opportunities from your account, so you set up the next steps on a real deal rather than on a blank.

  3. 03

    Add the filter

Click the plus in the editor and pick Filter. Fill the three boxes: the field to look at, chosen from what the test returned, the rule, and the value. A number rule only works on numbers.

  4. 04

    Post the message

Add your team chat app and its action to send a message to a channel. Map the deal details you want people to see, picked from what the test brought back.

  5. 05

    Test, then publish

Test each step and read the message that lands in the channel. When it looks right, publish the Zap to switch it on. Only deals created from then on will pass through.

Triggers

Method CRM triggers on Zapier

6 events start a Zap when something happens in Method CRM. Zapier checks for them at the interval your plan allows.

1

New Activity

Polling trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new activity is added.”

Starts your Zap each time someone logs an activity in Method CRM, so what your team records there can be echoed in another tool without retyping it.

How it fires
Zapier goes and looks at regular intervals, and how often depends on your plan: every 15 minutes on the free one.
When to use it
every logged activity should be copied to a shared sheet, so the team's work is visible outside the CRM.
Watch out
as a general precaution, a Zap that writes into the place its own trigger watches can set itself off again; check the pair before you publish.
2

New Contact

Polling trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new contact is added.”

Picks up each person added as a contact in Method CRM and hands their details to the steps after it.

How it fires
Zapier goes and looks at regular intervals, and how often depends on your plan: every 15 minutes on the free one.
When to use it
someone on your team adds a contact and you want that person subscribed to your newsletter tool without a second entry.
Watch out
contacts that already existed before you published the Zap are not picked up; only new ones are.
3

New Customer or Customer Lead (QuickBooks Only)

Polling trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new customer or customer lead is added.”

Fires on every new customer or customer lead in a Method CRM account tied to QuickBooks.

How it fires
Zapier goes and looks at regular intervals, and how often depends on your plan: every 15 minutes on the free one.
When to use it
each new customer should land in a welcome sequence in your email tool, leads included, so nobody waits for a manual export.
Watch out
the name restricts it to QuickBooks. On a Xero-based account, look at the Xero trigger below, and check at test that items come back.
4

New Customer/Vendor or Customer/Vendor Lead (Xero Only)

Polling trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new customer/vendor or customer/vendor lead is added.”

The Xero counterpart: Zapier catches each new customer/vendor record, or lead of that kind, created in a Method CRM account linked to Xero.

How it fires
Zapier goes and looks at regular intervals, and how often depends on your plan: every 15 minutes on the free one.
When to use it
your bookkeeping runs on Xero and you want each new business partner announced in a team chat channel.
Watch out
on an account tied to QuickBooks this one is not the right pick; use the QuickBooks trigger above and confirm with a test.
5

New Opportunity

Polling trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new opportunity is added.”

Opens the Zap when a new deal is created in Method CRM, which makes it the natural start for anything that should happen around a sale in progress.

How it fires
Zapier goes and looks at regular intervals, and how often depends on your plan: every 15 minutes on the free one.
When to use it
every new opportunity should create a follow-up activity for its owner, or a card on your project board.
Watch out
after a bulk import of deals, Zapier can hold a sudden large batch back with its flood protection; check at test how the Zap behaves before a large import.
6

New Vendor

Polling trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new vendor is added.”

Sends each new supplier recorded in Method CRM to the next step, for the purchasing side of your business rather than the sales side.

How it fires
Zapier goes and looks at regular intervals, and how often depends on your plan: every 15 minutes on the free one.
When to use it
your supplier tracker in a spreadsheet should get a new row each time a vendor is added.
Watch out
Zapier remembers what it already saw on this trigger, so the same vendor never starts the Zap twice.
Actions

Method CRM actions on Zapier

Method CRM gives you 7 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Add Activity

Action

In Zapier“Adds a new activity.”

Creates an activity in Method CRM, dated, typed and assigned to someone on your team.

When to use it
a booking in your scheduling tool should appear as an activity for the rep who owns the account.
Watch out
Start Date, Status, Type and Assigned To are all required, so those statuses, types and users must already exist in your Method CRM account.
2

Add Contact to Existing Entity

Action

In Zapier“Adds a new contact to an existing entity.”

Attaches a new person to a customer or vendor that is already in Method CRM, instead of creating a loose contact.

When to use it
a second buyer from a known client fills in your form and should sit under that client's record.
Watch out
Entity Full Name is required. If you do not have it, the field hint points to Find Customer or Customer Lead or Find Vendor in the step before.
3

Add Customer or Customer Lead (QuickBooks Only)

Action

In Zapier“Adds a new customer or customer lead”

Writes a new customer into a QuickBooks-linked Method CRM account, or a lead when you set the Is Customer Lead? field.

When to use it
a sign-up form on your website should create a lead in Method CRM without anyone retyping it.
Watch out
First Name and Name are both required, so map them from the trigger and check the result at test.
4

Add Customer/Vendor or Customer/Vendor Lead (Xero Only)

Action

In Zapier“Adds a new customer/vendor or customer/vendor lead”

Does the same job for accounts tied to Xero, with an Is CustomerVendor Lead? field to keep the record at lead stage.

When to use it
your accounting lives in Xero and new partners from an onboarding form should reach Method CRM directly.
Watch out
First Name and Name are required. Check at test that your account accepts the Xero version before you publish.
5

Add Generic Entry

Action

In Zapier“Adds a new entry to a table.”

Adds a row to a table of your choice in Method CRM, which covers tables the other actions do not reach.

When to use it
your team built a custom table in Method and wants each form answer stored there.
Watch out
Table Name is required, so you need to know the exact table you are writing into.
6

Add Opportunity

Action

In Zapier“Adds a new opportunity.”

Opens a new deal in your Method CRM pipeline, linked to a contact and assigned to a person.

When to use it
a quote request from your website should show up in the pipeline at the right stage.
Watch out
five fields are required, among them Contact RecordID; the hint suggests a Find Contact step first to get it.
7

API Request (Beta)

Action

In Zapier“This is an advanced action which makes a raw HTTP request that includes this integration's authentication.”

The advanced option: it sends a request of your own to Method CRM, reusing the connection you already set up.

When to use it
you need an operation that none of the actions above offers, and someone on your team is at ease with this kind of setup.
Watch out
the URL field only accepts addresses on domains tied to Method CRM, and Stop on error decides whether the Zap halts when the app answers with an error.
Searches

Method CRM searches on Zapier

4 search steps look for data that already exists in Method CRM, so a later step can use it.

A search step finds a record that already exists in Method CRM and passes it on. It is how Add Opportunity gets its Contact RecordID. Searches sit at the bottom of the action list, under their own SEARCH heading. Three of the four come with a find-or-create version: the same search with one box ticked, not an extra operation.

1

Find Contact

SearchFind or create

In Zapier“Finds an existing contact by entity full name, email or contact name.”

Looks a contact up by entity full name, email or contact name, then hands the record to the next step.

When to use it
right before Add Opportunity, which needs the Contact RecordID this search returns.
Watch out
the editor also lists Find or Create Contact. It is this same search with the creation box ticked, and it creates the contact when none matches.
2

Find Customer or Customer Lead (QuickBooks Only)

SearchFind or create

In Zapier“Finds an existing customer or customer lead by full name or email.”

Checks a QuickBooks-linked account for a customer or lead by full name or email.

When to use it
before Add Contact to Existing Entity, to get the Entity Full Name that action requires.
Watch out
Find or Create Customer is the same search with the creation box ticked and it creates the customer when no match comes back.
3

Find Customer/Vendor or Customer/Vendor Lead (Xero Only)

SearchFind or create

In Zapier“Finds an existing customer/vendor or customer/vendor lead by full name or email.”

The Xero side of the lookup: it finds a customer/vendor record, or a lead, by full name or email.

When to use it
your account is on Xero and the next step needs to know if the partner is already there.
Watch out
Find or Create CustomerVendor is not a separate operation; it is this search with the creation box ticked.
4

Find Vendor

Search

In Zapier“Finds an existing vendor by full name or email.”

Finds an existing supplier by full name or email, for Zaps on the buying side.

When to use it
a supplier's new contact person must be filed under the right vendor with Add Contact to Existing Entity.
Watch out
this one has no find-or-create version, so a missing vendor stops the Zap unless you allow an empty result.

The three settings every search exposes

  1. Successful if no search results are found?
Left as is, a search that finds nothing stops the Zap there and the steps that needed it are skipped. Switched on, the Zap carries on empty-handed.
  2. Create X if it doesn't exist yet?
Ticking it turns the search into a find-or-create. The setting above disappears and Zapier asks for the fields needed to create the missing record.
  3. If multiple search results are found?
Three ways out when several records match: keep the first one, which is the default, stop the Zap, or hand all of them on at once.
When it breaks

When a Method CRM Zap breaks

Zapier attaches no help article to Method CRM, and no limit specific to the app is on record. What breaks is the usual Zapier ground, which catches people on this app too.

These four cases cover the general limits to know. When a Zap stops for a reason you cannot see, see our Zapier troubleshooting guide.

  • Old records never come through

A Zap only reacts to what happens after you switch it on. Contacts and deals already in Method CRM stay where they are; moving that backlog is a separate job.
  • A Zap that keeps restarting

As a general precaution, a Zap that writes into the place its own trigger watches can set itself off again and burn through your tasks. Check the pair you chose before you publish.
  • A bulk import stalls

When a trigger suddenly returns a huge batch, after an import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold it back rather than run everything.
  • The same record never fires twice

Zapier keeps track of what it has already seen on a polling trigger, so the same item never starts the Zap twice.

FAQ

Method CRM and Zapier: common questions

01Is the Method CRM Zapier integration free?
Yes, within the free plan's limits. Method CRM is not among the apps Zapier keeps for paid plans, so a free account can use it. That plan gives 100 tasks a month and an unlimited number of Zaps, but each Zap stops at two steps: one trigger and one action. Once you add Find Contact before Add Opportunity, or a filter, the Zap becomes multi-step and you need a paid plan.
02How many tasks does a Method CRM Zap use?
One per action that succeeds, and nothing for the trigger. Watching Method CRM for new contacts or opportunities costs nothing, however often Zapier checks the account. A Zap that runs Find Contact and then Add Opportunity counts each step that completes, so plan for more than one task per form submission. An action that fails is not counted against your plan. Keep in mind that a few apps and a few actions take more than one task when they complete, so read the count after your first runs.
03Does Method CRM send data to Zapier in real time?
No. All six Method CRM triggers are polling triggers: Zapier checks the account at a set interval and keeps only what it has not seen yet. That interval is 15 minutes on the Free plan, 2 minutes on Professional and 1 minute on Team and Enterprise. On paid plans you can also change how often a polling trigger checks, and run a check by hand from the editor. The type of a trigger comes from the app itself and cannot be switched from the editor.
04What is needed to connect Method CRM to Zapier?
An account on Method CRM, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch. In Zapier you open the Apps page, click + Add connection, search for Method CRM in the dialog and pick it, then click Add connection. A tab opens where you sign in to Method CRM and grant Zapier access to the account. The connection is then shared by every Method CRM step in your Zaps, so you only do this once per account.
05Why does Add Opportunity ask for a Contact RecordID?
Because the deal has to hang on a contact that already exists in Method CRM, and the field is required. A form or a spreadsheet rarely carries that ID, so the field hint suggests putting Find Contact in the step before. It returns the contact, and you map its record ID into Add Opportunity. Opportunity Name, Assigned To, Close Date and Opportunity Stage are required too. That extra search step makes the Zap multi-step, which means a paid plan rather than the free one.
06What if the Method CRM operation you want is not on the list?
Check the Method CRM page on Zapier first: it shows the current list of triggers, actions and searches. If what you need is still missing, API Request (Beta) lets someone on your team send a custom request to Method CRM through the connection you already have. It only accepts addresses on domains tied to Method CRM, and it is an advanced action, best handled by someone comfortable with that kind of setup.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for Method CRM?
Decide on three criteria rather than on a ranking. Coverage: on Zapier, Method CRM offers the 17 operations listed on this page, and the other tools have their own catalogues to check. Timing: every Method CRM trigger here is polling, so the interval of your plan sets how quickly a Zap reacts. Budget: Zapier bills completed actions as tasks, and a Zap with a search or a filter needs a paid plan.
