Metricool Zapier integrationAutomate Metricool with Zapier.

The Metricool Zapier integration gives you 8 triggers, 5 actions and 0 searches. All eight triggers are polling ones. Metricool is not one of the apps Zapier keeps for paid plans, so the free plan runs it, one trigger and one action per Zap.

Overview

What the Metricool Zapier integration does for you

It connects Metricool, the platform where you plan, publish and measure your social accounts, to the rest of your tools. You build a Zap (the automation itself: one trigger, then one or more actions that run every time the trigger event happens). Metricool can start the Zap when a post, a comment or a review shows up, and it can publish or reply when the Zap tells it to.

Three results people build first. Reviews that never go unanswered: New GMB Review starts the Zap and Reply GMB Review posts a reply through Metricool. A failed post caught early: New Failed Post warns the team in a chat channel, so someone republishes it. Content planned from elsewhere: a row in your editorial spreadsheet feeds Schedule Post, and the post lands in Metricool's Planner at the date you set.

Now what Zapier does not do here. None of the eight triggers is instant: Zapier checks Metricool on a timer that depends on your plan, so a comment or a review is picked up at the next check, not the second it arrives. The three reply actions only work behind their matching trigger, because they need an ID that trigger provides. There is no search, so a Zap cannot look up an older post or comment. And the metrics trigger can burn tasks fast if you choose the wrong export mode.

Vocabulary

Zapier words, in plain English

Seven words come back across this page. Here they are once, so everything after reads easily.

Trigger
The event in Metricool, or in another app, that starts the Zap. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it.
Action
What the Zap does once it has started: the step that schedules a post or sends a reply for you.
Task
The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. The number on your plan is a count of those.
Polling trigger
A trigger Zapier checks on a timer: it asks the app for new items and keeps only what it has not seen yet.
Instant trigger
A trigger the app reports itself, the moment the event happens. Metricool has none of these on Zapier.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap carry on only when what arrived meets the condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
Multi-step Zap
Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A filter or a second action makes one, and it then needs a paid plan.
Cost

What a Metricool Zap really costs

Zapier bills tasks, and only actions make tasks. Watching Metricool for new comments or posts costs nothing, however often Zapier checks.

  • Trigger checksFree, whatever the interval
  • Free plan100 tasks a month, unlimited Zaps, two steps each
  • MetricoolAvailable on the free plan
  • Failed actionNot counted

Each action that succeeds counts once, and one that fails is not counted. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, each one stopping at two steps: New GMB Review then Reply GMB Review fits. Add a filter to answer only some reviews, and the Zap turns multi-step, which needs a paid plan. The metrics trigger is the one to watch: its Row per Data Set mode can, by Metricool's own example, eat 100 tasks a day. The interval grid below applies to all eight Metricool triggers.

Connect

Connect Metricool to Zapier

  1. 01

    Open your connections

In Zapier, go to the Apps page of your account and click + Add connection. A connection is your Metricool account linked once, then reused by every step that uses the app.

  2. 02

    Pick Metricool

Search for Metricool in the dialog, select it and click Add connection. You need a Metricool account, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch.

  3. 03

    Sign in and grant access

Sign in to Metricool in the tab that opens, with the account that holds your brands, then grant Zapier access. Every Metricool trigger and action in your Zaps can then use this connection.

First Zap

Your first Zap: failed Metricool posts flagged in team chat

GoalEach post that fails to publish and meets your condition is posted to your team chat channel.

  1. 01

    Create the Zap

Create a Zap and pick Metricool with New Failed Post. The filter brings the Zap to three steps, so it needs a paid plan.

  2. 02

    Test the trigger

Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent failed posts from your account, so you set up the next steps on a real one rather than on a blank.

  3. 03

    Add the filter

Click the plus in the editor and pick Filter. Fill the three boxes: the field to look at, chosen from what the test returned, the rule, and the value. A text rule only works on text.

  4. 04

    Post the alert

Add your team chat app and its action to send a channel message. Map the post details you want people to see, picked from what the test brought back.

  5. 05

    Test, then publish

Test each step and read the message that lands in the channel. When it looks right, publish the Zap to switch it on. Only posts that fail from then on will show up.

Triggers

Metricool triggers on Zapier

8 events start a Zap when something happens in Metricool. Zapier checks for them at the interval your plan allows.

1

New Failed Post

Polling trigger

In Zapier“Triggered when a new post failed to be published on any network.”

Catches a post that Metricool could not publish, on any network, so a failed post turns into something someone sees.

How it fires
Zapier goes and looks at regular intervals, and how often depends on your plan: every 15 minutes on the free one.
When to use it
a post should not vanish unnoticed; the person in charge of your accounts gets a message to fix and republish it.
Watch out
posts that failed before the Zap was published are not picked up, only new failures are.
2

New GMB Review

Polling trigger

In Zapier“Triggered when Metricool detects a new incoming review for your GMB location.”

Brings each fresh review of your GMB location into the Zap, so customer feedback stops waiting inside Metricool.

How it fires
Zapier goes and looks at regular intervals, and how often depends on your plan: every 15 minutes on the free one.
When to use it
the team wants every new review copied to a shared sheet and answered through Reply GMB Review.
Watch out
this is the trigger that provides the Review Id that Reply GMB Review requires; keep them in the same Zap.
3

New Inbox Conversation (By Network)

Polling trigger

In Zapier“Triggered when Metricool detects a new incoming conversation for a given provider (Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter).”

Opens the Zap on a new incoming conversation for the network you pick: Instagram, Facebook or Twitter.

How it fires
Zapier goes and looks at regular intervals, and how often depends on your plan: every 15 minutes on the free one.
When to use it
direct messages should land in your support tool as tickets, so they are not only read inside Metricool.
Watch out
Provider is required, so one Zap listens to one network; build a Zap per network if you need several.
4

Get Your Network Metrics Daily

Polling trigger

In Zapier“Triggered every day with the metrics of the selected range”

Hands over the numbers of one brand, for the date range and metric group you pick, so your reporting can live outside Metricool. Check at the test what comes through and when.

How it fires
Zapier goes and looks at regular intervals, and how often depends on your plan: every 15 minutes on the free one.
When to use it
a report in a spreadsheet should fill itself with the numbers of one metric group.
Watch out
Export Mode decides the bill. Metricool's own warning gives the example of 100 posts in range costing 100 tasks a day in Row per Data Set mode, against 1 in Row Per Range. You also cannot mix metric groups.
5

New Post Comment (By Network)

Polling trigger

In Zapier“Triggered when Metricool detects a new comment or reply in a post of a given provider (Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok or LinkedIn).”

Spots a new comment or reply under your posts on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok or LinkedIn, one network per Zap.

How it fires
Zapier goes and looks at regular intervals, and how often depends on your plan: every 15 minutes on the free one.
When to use it
new comments should be logged in a shared sheet, or answered with Reply Post Comment.
Watch out
the Provider you pick needs a valid connection in Metricool, or the trigger has nothing to listen to.
6

New Draft in Planner

Polling trigger

In Zapier“Triggered when a new draft is added in your Metricool Planner for the next N days.”

Reacts to a new draft added to the Metricool Planner for the coming days, before anything goes live.

How it fires
Zapier goes and looks at regular intervals, and how often depends on your plan: every 15 minutes on the free one.
When to use it
each new draft should go to a reviewer as a task in your project tool, so approval happens before the publish date.
Watch out
Brand is required; a Zap watches one brand, so pick the right one when several share the account.
7

New Published Post

Polling trigger

In Zapier“Triggered when a new post is published using Metricool.”

Picks up each post published through Metricool, the moment to share it further or archive it.

How it fires
Zapier goes and looks at regular intervals, and how often depends on your plan: every 15 minutes on the free one.
When to use it
a log of everything that went out, kept in a spreadsheet, so the team can review a month of content in one place.
Watch out
it only sees posts published after the Zap is switched on; earlier ones never come through.
8

New Scheduled Post

Polling trigger

In Zapier“Triggered when a new post is scheduled for the next N days (incremental). Drafts are not included.”

Notices a post newly scheduled for the coming days, drafts excluded, so the rest of the team knows what is queued.

How it fires
Zapier goes and looks at regular intervals, and how often depends on your plan: every 15 minutes on the free one.
When to use it
the rest of the team wants a heads-up in a shared channel each time a post is queued, so nobody is caught off guard.
Watch out
drafts are left out on purpose; to follow those, use New Draft in Planner instead.
Actions

Metricool actions on Zapier

Metricool gives you 5 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Add Post to Autolist

Action

In Zapier“Add a new post to an existing autolist.”

Drops a new post into an autolist that already exists in Metricool, rather than giving it a fixed date.

When to use it
content collected in another tool should join an autolist you already keep in Metricool, without copying it by hand.
Watch out
Brand Name and List are required, so the autolist must exist in Metricool before you build the Zap.
2

Reply Conversation

Action

In Zapier“Send a reply to an incoming conversation using Metricool.”

Sends a reply into an incoming conversation, through Metricool, without opening the inbox.

When to use it
a first automatic answer to new direct messages, so nobody waits in silence.
Watch out
Conversation and Recipient come from the New Inbox Conversation trigger, so this action belongs right after it.
3

Reply GMB Review

Action

In Zapier“Send a reply to an incoming GMB Review using Metricool.”

Posts a reply to an incoming GMB review using Metricool, with the text you write or map.

When to use it
a thank-you on every new review, written once and sent each time.
Watch out
Review Id must come from the New GMB Review trigger; without it the step has no review to answer.
4

Reply Post Comment

Action

In Zapier“Send a reply to an incoming Post comment using Metricool.”

Answers a comment under one of your posts, through Metricool, on the network the comment came from.

When to use it
every new comment on a post should get the same answer, written once in the Zap.
Watch out
Provider and Post Comment ID must both come from a previous New Post Comment trigger in the same Zap.
5

Schedule Post

Action

In Zapier“Create and schedule a new post using the Metricool's Planner.”

Creates a post in Metricool's Planner and schedules it, for the networks you tick, at the date and time you set.

When to use it
your editorial calendar lives in a spreadsheet, and each approved row should become a planned post.
Watch out
a REEL needs at least 1 video, and TikTok autopublishing only works with a TikTok Business account connected on Metricool.
When it breaks

When a Metricool Zap breaks

Zapier attaches no help article to Metricool, and no limit specific to the app is on record. What breaks is the usual Zapier ground, plus one task trap the app itself warns about.

Four general limits are worth knowing. When a Zap stops for no reason you can see, see our Zapier troubleshooting guide.

  • Old comments and posts never come through

A Zap only reacts to what happens after you switch it on. Comments and reviews already in Metricool stay where they are; handling that backlog is a separate job.
  • A Zap that keeps restarting

As a general precaution, a Zap that writes into the place its own trigger watches can set itself off again and burn through your tasks. Check the pair you chose before you publish.
  • A sudden batch stalls

When a trigger suddenly returns a huge batch, after an import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold it back rather than run everything.
  • The same item does not run twice

Zapier keeps track of what it has already seen on a polling trigger, so the same item never starts the Zap a second time.

FAQ

Metricool and Zapier: common questions

01Is the Metricool Zapier integration free?
Yes, within the free plan's limits. Metricool is not one of the apps Zapier reserves for paid plans, so a free account can use its triggers and actions. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and an unlimited number of Zaps, each limited to one trigger and one action. A review answered through Reply GMB Review fits. Add a filter to pick which reviews get a reply, and the Zap becomes multi-step, which needs a paid plan.
02How many tasks does a Metricool Zap use?
One per action that succeeds, and nothing for the trigger or for the checks Zapier makes. A Zap that replies to each new comment uses one task per comment. The exception to plan for is Get Your Network Metrics Daily: in Row per Data Set mode, Metricool's own example says 100 posts in range means 100 tasks every day, while Row Per Range uses 1 task a day. An action that fails is not counted.
03Does Metricool send updates to Zapier in real time?
No. All eight Metricool triggers are polling triggers: Zapier asks Metricool for new items at a set interval and keeps only what it has not seen. That interval is 15 minutes on Free, 2 minutes on Professional, 1 minute on Team and Enterprise. On paid plans you can change how often a polling trigger checks, and run a check by hand from the editor. The type is set by Metricool itself and cannot be switched from the editor.
04What is needed to connect Metricool to Zapier?
An account on Metricool, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch. From the Apps page of Zapier, click + Add connection, search for Metricool, pick it and click Add connection, then sign in and grant access in the tab that opens. For New Post Comment (By Network), the network you pick must also be connected inside Metricool, or the Provider has nothing behind it.
05Why did the metrics Zap use up the month's tasks?
Check Export Mode first on Get Your Network Metrics Daily: Row per Data Set is the setting Metricool itself warns about. Its example: with 100 posts in the selected range, that mode uses 100 tasks every day, while Row Per Range uses just 1. You also cannot mix metric groups in one trigger. Switch the mode, test the step again and read what comes back before you publish the Zap once more.
06What if the Metricool operation you want is not listed?
Check the Metricool page on Zapier, which shows the current triggers and actions. If your need is not there, look at whether another trigger gets close: New Scheduled Post and New Draft in Planner, for instance, cover two sides of the same queue. Metricool offers no search and no advanced request action on Zapier, so what falls outside these thirteen operations cannot be reached from a Zap with this app.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for Metricool?
Pick on criteria rather than on a ranking. Coverage: Metricool offers 13 operations on Zapier, and each other tool has its own catalogue to check. Timing: every Metricool trigger here is polling, so your plan's interval sets the delay before a reply goes out. Cost: Zapier bills completed actions, and the metrics export mode can multiply tasks. Weigh those three points against how many brands and networks you run. The answer depends on your setup, not on a verdict.
