Mood Metrics API Zapier integrationAutomate Mood Metrics API with Zapier.
The Mood Metrics API Zapier integration gives you 0 triggers, 1 action and 0 searches. That single action reads a piece of text and tells you whether it sounds positive, negative or neutral, with the main emotion behind it. Another app always starts the Zap.

What the Mood Metrics API Zapier integration does
Mood Metrics API is a sentiment analysis service: you hand it a text, it sorts it as positive, negative or neutral, with confidence scores and the dominant emotion. On Zapier it is one action, placed after a trigger from another app, so every message, review or answer that app receives can be scored on the way through.
Angry emails flagged in team chat. A new email in your inbox, then Analyze Sentiment, then a filter and a chat message: only the messages that score badly reach the team channel.
A sentiment column next to every piece of feedback. Score each new row of feedback and write the result back to a spreadsheet, so trends show up without reading every line.
A short reason attached to each score. The action returns an overall score, a score per main emotion and a rationale, which you can map into a note in the next step.
What Zapier does not do here: Mood Metrics API has no trigger, so it never starts a Zap by itself, and no search. Each run scores the text the trigger hands it and passes the result to the next step. As soon as you add a step after the analysis, the Zap is multi-step and needs a paid plan. Before you choose a tool, see our n8n vs Zapier guide. Each scenario starts with a trigger from another app, never from Mood Metrics API.
Zapier words in one minute
Seven words you will meet in the editor. To learn how to build Zaps step by step, see our Zapier training.
- Zap
- The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run every time the trigger event happens.
- Trigger
- The event in an app that starts the Zap. Mood Metrics API has none, so the trigger always comes from another app.
- Action
- What the Zap does once it has started: the step that writes, sends or moves something for you, here scoring a text.
- Task
- The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. The count on your plan is a count of those.
- Polling vs instant trigger
- A polling trigger is checked by Zapier at a fixed interval. An instant trigger is reported by the app the moment it happens.
- Filter
- A step that lets the Zap go on only when what arrived meets your condition, like a negative score, and stops it otherwise.
- Multi-step Zap
- Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A second action or a filter makes it one, and it then needs a paid plan.
What a Mood Metrics API Zap really costs
Mood Metrics API is not a premium app, so it works from the free plan. The trigger of the other app never costs a task; Analyze Sentiment counts one task each time it succeeds.
- Trigger of the other appNever counts as a task
- Analyze Sentiment1 task per successful run
- Free plan100 tasks a month, unlimited two-step Zaps
- Premium appNo, available on the free plan
An analysis that fails is not counted. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps of two steps: one trigger, one action. A trigger followed by Analyze Sentiment fits; doing something with the score, or filtering on it, makes the Zap multi-step and needs a paid plan. The grid below applies only if the trigger of the other app is a polling one. Looking for new data costs nothing either, however often Zapier checks.
Connect Mood Metrics API to Zapier in 3 steps
- 01
Open the Apps page
In your Zapier account, go to Apps and click + Add connection. A connection is your Mood Metrics API account linked once, then reused by every step that calls it.
- 02
Pick Mood Metrics API
Search Mood Metrics API by name in the dialog, pick it and click Add connection. You need an account on the app, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch.
- 03
Sign in and grant access
Sign in to Mood Metrics API in the tab that opens, then grant Zapier access to the account. Back in the editor, the connection is ready for any Analyze Sentiment step.
Your first Zap: unhappy emails sent to team chat
GoalScore every new email and post the ones that come out negative in your team chat.
- 01
Build: pick the trigger
Start a new Zap with your email app as the trigger and its new-email event. Test it: Zapier brings back the three most recent emails, so you work on a real one.
- 02
Add Analyze Sentiment
Add Mood Metrics API with Analyze Sentiment, pick your connection and map the email body into the Text field. Test the step and read the scores that come back.
- 03
Add a filter
From the plus icon, add Filter and set its three boxes on the sentiment result: the field, the rule and the value. The filter makes this a multi-step Zap, so it needs a paid plan.
- 04
Add the chat message
Add your chat app as the last action and map the email details you want plus the rationale from the analysis into the message, so the team knows why it was flagged.
- 05
Test, then publish
Test the last step once and read the message in your chat app. Then click Publish to switch the Zap on; from then on every new email is scored.
The Mood Metrics API action
Mood Metrics API gives you 1 action. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

Analyze Sentiment
ActionIn Zapier“Analyzes the emotional content of the submitted text, returning an overall sentiment score, per-primary-emotion score, and a rationale.”
Reads the text you pass it and returns an overall sentiment score, a score for each main emotion and a short rationale, ready for the next step.
When a Mood Metrics API Zap breaks
Zapier attaches no help article to Mood Metrics API, so the cases below are the general limits that apply to every Zap.
The trigger always belongs to another app, so the general limits below apply through that app. If a run stops and the cause is unclear, see our Zapier troubleshooting guide.
Old messages are never scored
A Zap only reacts to what happens after it is switched on. Emails or reviews that already existed are not analysed; scoring that backlog is a separate job.A Zap that sets itself off
A Zap that writes into the very place its own trigger watches can start itself again and again, and burn through your task count.Bulk imports held back
When the trigger suddenly returns a huge batch, after a bulk import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold those runs back. The same item is scored once
If the trigger of the other app is a polling one, Zapier keeps track of what it has already seen, so the same item does not start the Zap twice.
