Nesta Zapier integrationAutomate Nesta with Zapier.
The Nesta Zapier integration gives you 2 triggers, 1 action and 1 search. New and updated leads can leave Nesta for your other tools, and leads captured elsewhere can enter Nesta with their real source kept, without retyping a single contact.

What the Nesta Zapier integration does for you
Nesta is a marketing platform for home service businesses: organic marketing, attribution tracking, lead management and follow-up in one place. The Zapier integration connects its leads to your other apps through a Zap (the automation you build on Zapier), in both directions: out of Nesta when a lead appears, into Nesta when one arrives elsewhere.
Three results worth setting up. A team that hears about every lead: New Lead starts a Zap that posts the lead in your team chat, and a filter can keep only the ones that meet your condition. Leads from other sources, with their origin kept: Create Lead imports a lead captured on another platform into Nesta, and its External Source field records where it really came from, so attribution stays right. Imports without doubles: Find Lead by Email or Phone checks recent leads by email or phone first, so the Zap knows whether the contact is already there before Create Lead runs.
What Zapier does not do here matters too. Both Nesta triggers are polling triggers, so a lead reaches your Zap at the next check, not the instant it is captured. There is no action to edit or delete a lead: Create Lead only adds. And leads captured before the Zap was published are never picked up.
To judge Zapier itself, see our Zapier review, and our Make vs Zapier comparison if you are still choosing a platform.
Zapier vocabulary in one minute
Eight words you will meet in the editor. Each one is used on this page as defined here.
- Zap
- The automation you build: one trigger, then one or more actions that run every time the trigger event happens.
- Trigger
- The event that starts the Zap, such as a new lead in Nesta. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it.
- Action
- What the Zap does once started: the step that writes, sends or moves something for you, like creating a lead.
- Task
- The unit Zapier bills. One task is one action your Zap completes successfully, and your plan counts those.
- Polling vs instant trigger
- A polling trigger is checked by Zapier on a timer set by your plan. An instant one is reported by the app as it happens.
- Filter
- A step that lets the Zap go on only when what arrived meets the condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
- Search step
- A step that looks up something already in an app, such as a lead, so the steps after it can use what it found.
- Multi-step Zap
- Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A search, a filter or a second action makes it one, and it needs a paid plan.
What a Nesta Zap really costs
Nesta is not a premium app on Zapier, so it is open from the free plan. Two things decide the bill: tasks, and how often Zapier checks.
- Premium appNo, available on the free plan
- Free plan tasks100 per month
- Free plan ZapsUnlimited, two steps each
- Nesta triggers2 polling, 0 instant
The trigger never costs a task, and checking for new leads costs nothing however often it happens. Each action that succeeds counts once; one that fails is not counted. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited two-step Zaps. Add Find Lead by Email or Phone, a filter or a second action, and the Zap is multi-step, so it needs a paid plan. Both Nesta triggers are polling triggers, so the grid below sets how long a lead can wait before the Zap sees it.
Connect your Nesta account to Zapier
- 01
Open the Apps page
In your Zapier account, open Apps and click + Add connection. You need a Nesta account, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch.
- 02
Pick Nesta
Type Nesta in the dialog's search box, select it, then click Add connection. You connect once, and every Zap step that uses Nesta reuses that connection.
- 03
Sign in and grant access
A tab opens on Nesta. Sign in with the account whose leads you want to automate, then grant Zapier access to it. Back in Zapier, the connection is ready for your first Zap.
Your first Zap: post the leads that matter in your team chat
GoalEach new Nesta lead that meets your condition is posted in your team chat, so someone can follow up.
- 01
Create the Zap
Start a new Zap, choose Nesta as the app that starts it and New Lead as the event, then select the Nesta connection you just made.
- 02
Test the trigger
Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent leads of the connected account, so you map fields on a real lead instead of a blank one.
- 03
Add a filter
From the plus icon, add a Filter step and set its three boxes: the field to look at, the rule, the value. A filter makes the Zap multi-step, so it needs a paid plan.
- 04
Add the message
Pick your team chat and its send-message action, then put the lead's details into the text. Check at the test which fields Nesta actually sends.
- 05
Test and publish
Test each step once and read the results, then click Publish. Leads captured after that moment go through at the next check; older ones are not picked up.
Nesta triggers
2 events start a Zap when something happens in Nesta. Zapier checks for them at the interval your plan allows.
New Lead
Polling triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a new lead is captured.”
Starts the Zap when Nesta has captured a new lead, and passes that lead's details to the next steps. It is the entry point for everything that should happen to a fresh request: alerting the team, logging it, copying it into another tool.
New or Updated Lead
Polling triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a lead is created or meaningfully updated.”
Wider than New Lead: it starts the Zap when a lead is created, and also when an existing one is meaningfully updated in Nesta. Use it when a copy of your leads elsewhere has to keep up with what changes.
Nesta actions
Nesta gives you 1 action. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.
Operations index
Create Lead
ActionIn Zapier“Imports a lead from an external source while preserving source attribution and raw payload data.”
Brings a lead captured on another platform into Nesta, and keeps both its origin and the raw data it came with next to it.
The Nesta search
1 search step looks for data that already exists in Nesta, so a later step can use it.
A search step finds a lead that already exists and passes it to the next steps. In the editor it sits at the bottom of the Action event list, under SEARCH. Three settings decide what happens when the result is not a single clean match.
Find Lead by Email or Phone
SearchIn Zapier“Finds recent leads using a contact email address or phone number.”
Looks through recent Nesta leads for one that matches an email address or a phone number, and hands what it found to the next steps.
The three settings every search exposes
- Successful if no search results are found?Left on its default, an empty search stops the Zap there and the steps that depend on it are skipped. Switched on, the Zap carries on empty-handed.
- Create X if it doesn't exist yet? This box turns a search into a find-or-create. Nesta exposes no find-or-create variant, so it has no role on this search.
- If multiple search results are found?Three ways out when several leads match: keep the first one, the default, stop the Zap, or hand all of them on at once.
When a Nesta Zap breaks
Zapier attaches no help article to Nesta. The cases below follow from how every Zap behaves, applied to a lead pipeline.
Each case has a fix you can apply in the editor. For the general method, see our Zapier troubleshooting guide.
Older leads never arrive
A Zap only reacts to what happens after it is switched on. Leads already in Nesta are not picked up, and moving them is a separate import. The same lead twice
On a polling trigger, Zapier keeps track of what it has already seen, so the same item does not start the Zap twice.A Zap that sets itself off
A Zap that writes into the place its own trigger watches can start itself again and again and burn through tasks. Check any Zap that writes leads back into Nesta.A bulk import held back
When a trigger suddenly returns a huge batch, after a bulk import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold those runs back.
