Overview

What the Omniconvert Explore Zapier integration is for

The Omniconvert Explore Zapier integration takes the leads your on-site surveys and overlays collect and hands them to the rest of your marketing stack. Zapier runs small automations called Zaps: an event in one app starts them, and they do the work elsewhere. Here, the event is a new lead from a survey or from an overlay.

Three results come up again and again. A mailing list that grows on its own: New Survey Lead adds each visitor who answers a survey and leaves contact details to your email platform. A CRM fed by your pop-ups: New Overlay Lead turns each overlay sign-up into a contact for the sales team, with no CSV export in between. A team alert: either trigger can post a message in your sales chat, so a hot lead from a pricing-page overlay gets a call quickly. Both triggers are instant, so plan intervals never slow them down.

What Zapier does not do for Omniconvert Explore is just as clear. The editor offers no action and no search step for this app, so a Zap cannot start an experiment, change a survey, edit an overlay or look up a past lead inside Omniconvert. Data leaves Omniconvert; nothing goes back in, and leads captured before the Zap was published are not picked up. If a two-way flow matters, compare tools first with Make vs Zapier and n8n vs Zapier.

Vocabulary

The Zapier words you will meet

Eight terms in plain words. The rest of the page uses them without explaining them again.

Zap
The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time the trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts the Zap. Once the Zap is switched on, Zapier waits for that event and nothing else.
Action
What the Zap does after it starts: the step that writes, sends or moves something for you. Omniconvert offers none.
Task
The unit Zapier bills. One task equals one action your Zap completes successfully, and your plan counts those.
Polling vs instant
A polling trigger is checked by Zapier on a timer. An instant trigger is reported by the app itself, so nothing waits.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap continue only when the incoming data meets your condition, and stops it otherwise.
Search step
A step that looks up something already stored in an app, so later steps can reuse it. Omniconvert has none.
Connection
Your account of an app, linked to Zapier once, then reused by every step of every Zap that uses that app.
Cost

What it really costs

Zapier bills in tasks, one per action that completes. Neither Omniconvert trigger costs anything, so a survey that collects leads all day costs nothing until a later step runs.

  • Both triggers0 tasks
  • Each successful action1 task
  • Free plan100 tasks a month, 2-step Zaps
  • Needs a paid planFilter, search or second action

The bill comes from the steps after the trigger: one task per successful action, nothing for an action that fails. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, and Omniconvert Explore is not reserved for paid plans. The catch: a free Zap stops at two steps. Add a filter, a search or a second action and it becomes a multi-step Zap, which needs a paid plan. The interval grid below concerns polling triggers only; both of these are instant.

Connect

Connect your Omniconvert account in three steps

  1. 01

    Open the Apps page

In your Zapier account, go to Apps and click + Add connection. Have your Omniconvert Explore account ready: Zapier links an account that already exists, it does not create one.

  2. 02

    Pick Omniconvert Explore

In the dialog, type Omniconvert Explore, select it in the results, then click Add connection. Zapier opens a separate tab where you sign in to Omniconvert.

  3. 03

    Sign in and grant access

Sign in to Omniconvert in that tab and grant Zapier access to the account. If a colleague owns the website or campaigns you want to use, get read access on them first, or the Zap will not see them.

First Zap

Your first Zap: from overlay sign-up to CRM contact

GoalEach overlay lead becomes a HubSpot contact, and sales gets a Slack message.

  1. 01

    Pick the trigger

Start a new Zap, choose Omniconvert Explore as the app that starts it, then New Overlay Lead as the event, and select your Omniconvert connection.

  2. 02

    Choose website and overlay

Pick the website in Select Website, then the overlay in Select Overlay. Both are required; an overlay missing from the list is not active, not collecting leads or not set to Zapier.

  3. 03

    Test the trigger

Run the test: Zapier brings back the three most recent leads of that overlay. Pick one, so the next steps are mapped on a real sign-up rather than an empty sample.

  4. 04

    Add the two actions

Add the HubSpot step, then the Slack step, and map the lead details from the trigger into each. Three steps make a multi-step Zap, so this one needs a paid plan.

  5. 05

    Test, then publish

Test each action once and read what came back, then click Publish to switch the Zap on. From then on, every new lead from that overlay starts it.

Triggers

The Omniconvert Explore triggers

2 events start a Zap when something happens in Omniconvert Explore, and 2 of them are instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.

1

New Survey Lead

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when you have generated a new lead.”

A visitor answers one of your on-site surveys and leaves contact details: this trigger passes that lead to your Zap. It suits feedback campaigns that double as lead capture, where the answers matter as much as the email address, and lets a marketer act on them without opening Omniconvert.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
an ecommerce team runs an exit survey and wants each respondent who opts in added to a win-back email sequence.
Watch out
Select Website and Select Survey are both required, and a survey only appears there once it is active, collecting leads and set to Zapier.
2

New Overlay Lead

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when you have generated a new lead.”

Here the source is an overlay rather than a survey: a pop-up, banner or similar layer on your site where a visitor signs up. Each new sign-up reaches your Zap, which makes this the trigger for discount offers, newsletter boxes and demo requests shown over the page.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
a SaaS marketer shows a demo-request overlay on the pricing page and wants each request in the CRM before the visitor leaves the site.
Watch out
Select Overlay only lists overlays that are active, collect leads and use Zapier as their integration; one paused overlay disappears from the list.
When it breaks

When it breaks

Zapier attaches no help article and no rate limit to Omniconvert Explore. What goes wrong here is the setup of the survey or overlay, plus the general behaviour of any Zap.

Four cases cover what a marketing team is likely to meet. For a run that fails for another reason, see Zapier troubleshooting.

  • The survey or overlay is not in the list

Zapier only offers surveys and overlays that are active, have lead collection on and use Zapier as their integration. Fix those settings in Omniconvert before coming back to the Zap.
  • Leads from before the Zap never arrive

A Zap only reacts to leads captured after you publish it. Everything collected earlier stays in Omniconvert, and moving that backlog is a separate job.
  • A sudden burst holds leads back

When a trigger suddenly returns a huge batch, after a bulk import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold those leads back instead of running them all.
  • One Zap covers one survey or overlay

Each trigger is set to a single survey or a single overlay through a required field. Leads from your other campaigns need their own Zap to be picked up.

FAQ

Omniconvert Explore and Zapier: common questions

01Is the Omniconvert Explore Zapier integration free?
Yes, it works on the free Zapier plan, because Zapier does not reserve Omniconvert Explore for paid plans. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and as many Zaps as you want. The limit to watch is size: a free Zap has two steps, one trigger and one action. New Survey Lead or New Overlay Lead followed by one step in another app fits. Add a filter, a search or a second action and the Zap turns multi-step, which needs a paid plan.
02How many Zapier tasks does it use?
Only the actions after the trigger count. New Survey Lead and New Overlay Lead cost no task, however many visitors leave their details. Each action that completes costs one task, so a one-action Zap uses one task per lead, and a three-action Zap uses three per lead. An action that fails is not counted against your plan. On the free plan, the budget is 100 tasks a month, which caps how many leads a one-action Zap can pass on before you need to upgrade.
03Do Omniconvert leads reach Zapier in real time?
Yes. Both triggers are instant: Omniconvert reports each new lead to Zapier itself, and the Zap starts right away. The plan grid, 15 minutes on Free, 2 on Professional and 1 on Team or Enterprise, applies only to polling triggers, which Zapier checks on a timer, so it never slows these down. A Zap built on either trigger shows a lightning bolt in the editor. The trigger type comes from Omniconvert and cannot be switched from the editor.
04What does it take to connect an Omniconvert account to Zapier?
An Omniconvert Explore account, a Zapier account and at least one survey or overlay ready to collect leads. In Zapier, open Apps, click + Add connection, search for Omniconvert Explore, click Add connection, sign in in the tab that opens and grant Zapier access. Each trigger then asks for a website and a survey or overlay, both required. If a colleague owns that website or campaign, the connected account needs read access on it.
05Why does a survey not show up in the Zapier dropdown?
Because Zapier filters the list. Select Survey and Select Overlay only show campaigns that meet three conditions at once: active, lead collection enabled, and Zapier chosen as their integration in Omniconvert. A draft survey, a paused overlay or one wired to another tool is left out, even if it collects leads. Check all three conditions in Omniconvert, then come back to the trigger and pick the campaign you just fixed.
06What if the Omniconvert operation you need does not exist?
Then this integration cannot do it, and it is better to know before building. Zapier offers two triggers for Omniconvert Explore, with no action and no search step, so a Zap cannot launch an experiment, edit a survey or look up a past lead inside Omniconvert. Two paths remain. Build around what exists: the two lead triggers as starting points, other apps for everything that follows. Or check whether another automation tool reaches the missing operation before committing to Zapier.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for Omniconvert Explore?
There is no single winner; it comes down to criteria. On the Zapier side, four checks settle it. Is a one-way flow enough, with Omniconvert leads going out to other apps and nothing coming back? Does your monthly lead volume fit your plan's task budget? And for the free plan, can the Zap stay at two steps? Do you need anything beyond survey and overlay leads, such as experiment data? If any answer goes against Zapier, test the same scenario in the other tools before deciding.
