OneSimpleApi Zapier integrationAutomate OneSimpleApi with Zapier.

The OneSimpleApi Zapier integration gives you 14 actions, 0 triggers and 0 searches. It never starts a Zap by itself, so the logic is simple: another app fires, then OneSimpleApi turns a URL, an email or a price into a PDF, a check or a rate.

Overview

What the OneSimpleApi Zapier integration actually does

Connecting OneSimpleApi to Zapier gives your automations a toolbox of small utilities: build a PDF, capture a page, check an address, fetch a rate. Each one is an action, meaning a step that does work once a Zap has started. A Zap is the automation itself: one event in some app, then the steps that follow.

Three outcomes cover most of what people build with it. A document out of a web page: Generate PDF or Create PDF From HTML turn a link or a block of HTML into a file another step can store or send. A cleaner contact list: Validate an Email Address flags throwaway addresses and dead domains before they reach your CRM. A fairer price: Calculate Discount Using PPP adjusts a price to the buyer's country and hands you the exchange rate in the same step.

Now the part the app page skips. OneSimpleApi has no trigger at all, so it can never be the first step: something else (a form, a shop, a spreadsheet) has to start the Zap. It has no search either, so it cannot look up a record that already exists. And as soon as you chain a second OneSimpleApi step, or anything after it, the Zap leaves the free plan (more on that below).

If you are weighing other tools, the same app exists as a OneSimpleApi n8n integration and a OneSimpleApi Make integration. Compare them on what your scenario needs, not on the logo.

Vocabulary

Zapier vocabulary in one minute

Seven words come back on every line of this page. Here they are in plain English.

Zap
The automation you build: one starting event, then one or more actions that run each time that event happens.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts the Zap. OneSimpleApi has none, so the trigger always comes from another app.
Action
The step that does the work once the Zap is running: here, generating a PDF, checking an email or fetching a rate.
Task
What Zapier bills you for: one action that completes successfully. Your plan's monthly count is a count of these.
Polling vs instant
A polling trigger is checked on a timer; an instant one is pushed by the app the moment the event happens. It depends on the trigger app you pick.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap continue only when the incoming data meets your condition, and stops it quietly otherwise.
Multi-step Zap
Any Zap with more than one trigger and one action. A second action, a filter or a search makes it one, and it then needs a paid plan.
Cost

What it really costs to run

OneSimpleApi is not a premium app, so it works on the free plan. The catch sits elsewhere.

  • Premium appNo, available on the free plan
  • Free plan100 tasks a month, unlimited Zaps
  • Free plan Zap size2 steps: one trigger, one action
  • Cost of the trigger0 tasks

Zapier counts a task each time an action completes. The trigger is free, and so is all the checking for new data. An action that fails is not billed. Every successful OneSimpleApi step is one task, so a Zap that validates an email and then writes to a CRM uses two per run. The free plan gives you 100 tasks a month, but only two-step Zaps: one trigger, one action. Add a filter or a second action and you need a paid plan. How fast a polling trigger checks depends on your plan, as in the grid below.

Connect

Connect OneSimpleApi to Zapier in 3 steps

  1. 01

Open your apps and add a connection

In Zapier, go to the Apps page of your account and click + Add connection. A connection is your OneSimpleApi account linked once, then reused by every step that calls the app.

  2. 02

    Pick OneSimpleApi

Type OneSimpleApi in the search box of the dialog, select it, then click Add connection. You need an existing OneSimpleApi account before this point.

  3. 03

    Sign in and grant access

Log in to OneSimpleApi in the tab that opens and allow Zapier to use the account. The connection then shows up in your list, ready for any Zap you build.

First Zap

Your first Zap: keep fake emails out of your CRM

GoalCheck every new form signup and only pass real addresses to your CRM.

  1. 01

    Create the Zap

Start a new Zap and pick your form tool and its new submission event as the trigger, since OneSimpleApi cannot start a Zap on its own.

  2. 02

    Test the trigger

Run the test: Zapier brings back the three most recent submissions, so you map the next steps on a real one rather than on empty fields.

  3. 03

    Add the check

Add OneSimpleApi with Validate an Email Address and map the email field from the form into Email Address, the only required box.

  4. 04

    Filter, then write

Add a filter on the result of the check, then your CRM step to create the contact. This makes the Zap multi-step, so it needs a paid plan.

  5. 05

    Test and publish

Run each step once and read what came back before going further. When the output looks right, click Publish to switch the Zap on.

Actions

The 14 OneSimpleApi actions

OneSimpleApi gives you 14 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Calculate Discount Using PPP

Action

In Zapier“Provide fair discounts to your users based on PPP (Purchase Power Parity). Also included is the exchange rate for the customer's currency.”

Adjusts a price to the buying power of the customer's country (purchasing power parity) and adds the exchange rate for their currency.

When to use it
offering a fair regional price to a buyer from a lower-income market without managing tables by hand.
Watch out
the country must be a 2-letter code, not a full name.
2

Obtain an Exchange Rate

Action

In Zapier“Obtains the exchange rate for all available currencies.”

Fetches exchange rates for every currency the service knows, toward the target currency you choose.

When to use it
converting an invoice amount before it goes into your accounting sheet.
Watch out
the target currency is a 3-letter ISO code such as EUR or USD, not a currency symbol.
3

Optimize, Resize and Deliver Images via CDN

Action

In Zapier“Image manipulation doesn't have to be hard. This API makes it super simple to adapt your images and then deliver them using a Content Delivery Network. OneSimpleApi will automatically resize, crop, optimize, add filters, host, and deliver your images.”

Takes an image, or a PDF, and returns a resized, optimized version served from a content delivery network, so it loads fast wherever it is shown.

When to use it
shrinking product photos uploaded through a form before they reach your store.
Watch out
the image box accepts a URL or an encoded string that starts with the base64: prefix, nothing else.
4

Retrieve Image Metadata

Action

In Zapier“Retrieves EXIF information from an Image URL: Camera details, GPS Location, Aperture, Whitebalance, Flash usage, etc.”

Pulls the EXIF details stored inside a photo: camera, GPS position, aperture, white balance, flash.

When to use it
logging where and with which device field photos sent by your team were taken.
Watch out
it needs the image's URL, so a photo that only exists as an attachment has to be reachable at an address first.
5

Obtain Instagram Profile

Action

In Zapier“Obtains Instagram profile details, including name, followers, following, profile picture, and last 5 posts.”

Looks up an Instagram profile and returns its name, follower and following counts, profile picture and latest 5 posts.

When to use it
qualifying creators who apply to your affiliate program with their real audience size.
Watch out
the profile box is required, so a form with an optional handle field will make runs fail.
6

Retrieve Web Page Meta Data

Action

In Zapier“Retrieves Title, Description, Meta Tags, Open Graph, and Twitter Card details from an URL.”

Reads a page and returns its title, description, meta tags and the preview details social networks use.

When to use it
enriching a list of saved links with a readable title and summary instead of a raw address.
Watch out
the URL is required, so a trigger without a full address leaves this step with nothing to read.
7

Generate PDF

Action

In Zapier“Creates a PDF file from a website URL.”

Turns a web page into a PDF file, from nothing more than its address. You can keep or drop the page's background colors and images.

When to use it
archiving a confirmation page or a published report as a file your next step stores or emails.
Watch out
the URL is required, so a trigger that does not carry a full link leaves this step with nothing to render.
8

Generate QR Code

Action

In Zapier“Generates a QR Code from a text or URL.”

Creates a QR code from a piece of text or a link you supply. One required box, the message to encode.

When to use it
giving every event registrant a personal code that points to their ticket page.
Watch out
the message is required, so a trigger that leaves the mapped field blank makes the step fail.
9

Take a Screenshot

Action

In Zapier“Takes a website screenshot from an URL easy and fast with pixel-perfect quality.”

Captures how a web page looks and gives you back the image, starting from the page address alone.

When to use it
keeping visual proof of a landing page or a competitor's pricing page each time a link lands in your sheet.
Watch out
the URL is the only required box; background colors and images are a separate option you set in the step.
10

Obtain Spotify Profile

Action

In Zapier“Obtain Spotify profile, including the artist name, picture, external URL, the number of followers, popularity ranking, monthly listeners, biography, social media links, top songs and top ranked listening locations.”

Retrieves an artist's Spotify profile: name, picture, followers, popularity, monthly listeners, biography, social links, top songs and top listening places.

When to use it
a booking agency or a label scoring incoming artist submissions on actual numbers.
Watch out
the profile box is required, so map it from a field every submission fills in.
11

Create PDF From HTML

Action

In Zapier“Creates a PDF file from an HTML string. It can have embedded CSS or a link to a CSS file. Make sure that all external elements (images, CSS, etc) have absolute paths.”

Builds a PDF from HTML you pass in as text, with inline styles or a link to a stylesheet. Handy when the document does not exist as a page yet.

When to use it
producing a quote or a delivery slip from a template you fill with values from the trigger.
Watch out
images and stylesheets need absolute addresses, or they vanish from the final PDF.
12

Create Image From HTML

Action

In Zapier“Creates a Screenshot Image from an HTML string. It can have embedded CSS or a link to a CSS file. Make sure that all external elements (images, CSS, etc) have absolute paths.”

Renders a chunk of HTML as an image instead of a PDF. Same input as the HTML-to-PDF action, different file at the end.

When to use it
generating a social card or a certificate picture from a template and a name.
Watch out
external assets need absolute paths here too, or the image shows broken pieces.
13

Expand Shortened URL

Action

In Zapier“Retrieves the original URL from a shortened URL.”

Follows a short link and hands back the full destination address it hides.

When to use it
seeing where links shared in support tickets or social mentions really lead before anyone clicks them.
Watch out
the URL box is required and expects the shortened link you want expanded.
14

Validate an Email Address

Action

In Zapier“Validates an email address to weed out throwaway addresses, invalid domains, and non-canonical addresses.”

Checks one address and tells you whether it looks disposable, sits on an invalid domain, or is written in a non-standard form.

When to use it
screening newsletter or trial signups before they land in your CRM.
Watch out
it reports, it does not block; you still need a filter to stop bad addresses from moving on.
When it breaks

When a OneSimpleApi Zap breaks

Zapier links no help article to this app, so the traps below are the general ones, applied to how OneSimpleApi is used.

The trigger always belongs to another app, so check its data as well as the OneSimpleApi step. Go through these four before blaming OneSimpleApi, and keep the Zapier troubleshooting guide close for the rest.

  • Old records are never processed

A Zap only reacts to events after it is switched on. The addresses already in your list will not be validated; that backlog is a separate job.
  • The Zap feeds itself

If the last step writes into the very sheet or table your trigger watches, each run starts a new one and burns through your task count fast.
  • A bulk import gets held back

When the trigger app suddenly returns a huge batch, after an import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can pause the runs instead of firing them all.
  • A required box arrives empty

Every OneSimpleApi action has a required field: URL, message, email, price. If the trigger leaves it blank, the step fails, and a failed step is not billed.

FAQ

OneSimpleApi and Zapier: the questions people ask

01Is the OneSimpleApi Zapier integration free?
Yes on the Zapier side, with limits. OneSimpleApi is not a premium app, so it runs on the free plan, which gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps. The real limit is size: a free Zap has two steps, one trigger and one action. Since OneSimpleApi has no trigger, your free Zap is another app's event followed by a single OneSimpleApi action. Add a filter or a second action and you are on a paid plan. Your OneSimpleApi account terms are separate and not covered here.
02How many tasks does a OneSimpleApi Zap use?
One per successful action, per run. The trigger costs nothing, and neither does Zapier checking for new data. If your Zap generates a PDF and then emails it, that is two tasks every time it runs. An action that fails is not counted. A few apps and actions use more than one task when they complete, so check your usage after the first live runs. Testing a step in the editor before you publish lets you read what each action returns.
03Does OneSimpleApi work in real time with Zapier?
It depends entirely on the app that starts the Zap, because OneSimpleApi has no trigger. If that app has an instant trigger, it pushes the event to Zapier straight away and your OneSimpleApi step follows. If it uses a polling trigger, Zapier checks on a timer: every 15 minutes on Free, 2 on Professional, 1 on Team and Enterprise. Instant triggers show a lightning bolt in the editor, which is the quickest way to tell.
04What do you need to connect OneSimpleApi to Zapier?
An existing OneSimpleApi account and a Zapier account. From the Apps page in Zapier, click + Add connection, pick OneSimpleApi, sign in in the tab that opens and grant access. The connection is created once and reused by every Zap that calls the app. If a step later touches something you do not own, you also need read or write access to it. Nothing else is asked at this stage: the fields of each action are filled later, inside the Zap, when you set up the step.
05Why does Calculate Discount Using PPP or Obtain an Exchange Rate fail?
Usually the format of a required field. The discount action expects the customer's country as a 2-letter code, and the exchange rate action expects the target currency as a 3-letter ISO code. If your trigger holds a full country name or a currency symbol, fix it upstream or map a field that already holds the code, then test the step again before you publish. Both fields are required, so the step cannot run without them.
06What if the OneSimpleApi operation you need is not listed?
Then it is not available in Zapier for this app. The integration offers 14 actions, no trigger and no search, and the list in the editor is the full list. The practical options are to chain the existing actions differently, to do that part in another app of the Zap, or to look at what the same app offers on other automation platforms. Whatever you pick, every extra action is one more task per run.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for OneSimpleApi?
Pick by criteria, not by brand. On Zapier, OneSimpleApi runs on the free plan, provided one action per Zap is enough, and it only ever comes after another app's trigger. If your scenario needs several steps and many runs, compare how each platform counts usage, because on Zapier every successful action is a task. Check which operations each one exposes for this app before choosing, since the list of 14 actions above is what Zapier gives you here.
