Phone Validator Zapier integrationAutomate Phone Validator with Zapier.
The Phone Validator Zapier integration has 0 triggers, 0 actions and 1 search. That single search tells you whether a North American number is a landline, a cell phone, VOIP or toll-free, inside a Zap started by another app.

What the Phone Validator Zapier integration is for
Phone Validator is a line-type lookup service from phonevalidator.com. Give it a North American phone number, and it says what kind of line sits behind it: landline, cell phone, VOIP or toll-free. On Zapier, that check becomes one step in the middle of a Zap, between the app that collects numbers and the app that uses them.
Three results people build with it. Text only the numbers that can receive texts: Phone Search runs on each new lead, a filter keeps the cell phones, and only those go to your SMS tool. A cleaner lead list: the line type is written next to each contact in your sheet or CRM, so sales knows before dialing whether it is a desk phone or a mobile. Fewer junk sign-ups: numbers that come back as VOIP or toll-free get flagged for a human check instead of entering the pipeline untouched.
Now the limits, because they shape everything. Phone Validator has no trigger and no action on Zapier. It cannot start a Zap, and it cannot write anything anywhere. A Zap always starts in another app, and the search sits after it. It only covers North American numbers, and it answers one question, the line type, nothing more.
The other consequence is on cost: a search makes a Zap multi-step, so a useful Phone Validator Zap runs on a paid plan. More on that below.

Zapier words, explained once
Seven terms, in plain language. The rest of the page uses them without repeating the definition.
- Zap
- An automation in Zapier: one trigger, then one or more steps that run every time that trigger happens.
- Trigger
- The event in an app that starts a Zap, such as a new form entry. Phone Validator has none, so it comes from another app.
- Action
- A step that does something for you once the Zap runs: creates a row, sends a message, updates a contact.
- Task
- What Zapier bills: one action completed successfully. The allowance of your plan is counted in those, nothing else.
- Search step
- A step that looks something up and hands the answer to the next steps. Phone Search is one: it looks up a line type.
- Filter
- A step that lets the Zap continue only when the data meets your condition, for instance a line type equal to cell.
- Multi-step Zap
- A Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A search, a filter or a second action makes one, and it needs a paid plan.
What Phone Validator really costs on Zapier
Phone Validator is not a premium app on Zapier. But being allowed on the free plan and being useful on it are two different things.
- Premium appNo
- Search stepMakes the Zap multi-step, so paid
- Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps
- CoverageNorth American numbers only
The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, each limited to two steps: one trigger, one action. A search step makes a Zap multi-step, and multi-step Zaps need a paid plan. So in practice, a Zap that checks a number and then does something with the answer runs on a paid plan. Tasks come from actions that succeed: the trigger is free, an action that fails is not counted, and each extra action adds its own task. Phone Validator has no trigger, so the interval grid below only matters if the trigger of the other app is a polling one.
Connect Phone Validator to Zapier
- 01
Open the connection dialog
Go to the Apps page of your Zapier account and click + Add connection. Type Phone Validator in the search box of the dialog and pick it from the results.
- 02
Sign in to Phone Validator
Click Add connection, then sign in to your Phone Validator account in the tab that opens. You need an account with phonevalidator.com before you start.
- 03
Grant access
Allow Zapier to use the account. The connection is saved on your Apps page, and every Phone Search step in every Zap you build can reuse it from then on.
Your first Phone Validator Zap
GoalCheck the number of each new form entry, then log only the cell phones in a spreadsheet.
- 01
Build: start in another app
Create a Zap and pick the app that collects numbers as the trigger, here a form. Test it: Zapier brings back the three most recent entries, so you work on a real one.
- 02
Add Phone Search
Add a step, choose Phone Validator and
Phone Search, which sits in the search section of the event list. Map the Phone box to the number field of the form. - 03
Test the search
Run the test and read what came back: the line type of that number. If it fails, check the format and that the number is North American.
- 04
Add a filter
Click the plus icon, pick Filter, and set it on the line type returned by the search, with a text rule. Only cell numbers go further.
- 05
Add the action and publish
Add the spreadsheet step, map the fields, test it, then click Publish. Each row written costs one task; this Zap needs a paid plan.
The Phone Validator search
1 search step looks for data that already exists in Phone Validator, so a later step can use it.
A search step looks something up and hands the answer to the steps after it. In the editor, searches sit at the bottom of the Action event list, under SEARCH. Phone Validator has no find-or-create variant. Three settings decide what happens when the lookup does not go to plan.
Phone Search
SearchIn Zapier“Determine the line-type of any North American phone number as cell phone, landline, VOIP or toll-free.”
Tells you what kind of line a North American number is: cell phone, landline, VOIP or toll-free. The Phone box is the only one required, and it takes the number with or without the leading 1, with or without dashes.
The three settings every search exposes
- Successful if no search results are found? On its default, a search that finds nothing stops the Zap there, and the steps depending on it are skipped. Turned on, the Zap goes on without an answer.
- Create X if it doesn't exist yet? This box turns a search into a find-or-create. Phone Validator has nothing to create, and Zapier lists no such variant for it.
- If multiple search results are found?Three choices when several items match: keep the first one, which is the default, stop the Zap, or pass all of them on.
When a Phone Validator Zap goes wrong
Zapier lists no help article for Phone Validator. The cases below are the general limits, seen through a lookup step that depends on another app.
A Phone Validator Zap has three moving parts: the trigger of another app, the search, and what comes after. Most problems start where those parts meet. For the general method, see Zapier troubleshooting.
Past contacts are never checked
A Zap only reacts to what happens after it is switched on. Numbers already in your CRM stay unchecked; cleaning that backlog is a separate job.The search finds nothing
On its default setting, a search that returns nothing stops the Zap and skips the steps after it. Decide in advance whether that is what you want.A loop through your own CRM
If the Zap writes the line type into the very records its trigger watches, each update can start it again and eat tasks. Watch new records, not edits.A bulk import floods the Zap
Importing a large list into the app that triggers the Zap sends a huge batch at once. Zapier's flood protection may hold it back.
