Envoy alternatives: where to go and how to keep your visitor log
Five destinations in detail, one per reason to leave, and a six-step exit plan.
The short answer: Sign In App if you want visitors, employee sign-in and desk booking under one per-site subscription; Visitly if you want to pay monthly with no annual contract; Greetly if hosts need to text visitors directly; Vizito if you want the lowest per-site price and Android or PC kiosks; VisitUs if Envoy's free plan (100 entries a month) is too tight and you have no budget. One Envoy rule to know first: after you cancel, your data is kept for 30 days, then destroyed. Export your log before you cancel. We compared these five tools against their official pages in 2026.
The ranking is editorial: a sponsored spot is always labeled on its card, and no affiliate link changes a score.
Why teams end up leaving Envoy
Envoy made iPad check-in mainstream: the visitor types their name, the host gets pinged, the badge prints. Reviewers praise how easy it is. People leave over the per-location price, the required hardware, and data rules they only discover on the way out.
Premium is $362 per location per month
Envoy Visitors Premium costs $362 per location per month, billed annually. That is about $4,344 a year for one office, and the price comes through a quote, not a checkout. Three small offices push you past $13,000 a year. For contrast, Visitly Starter is $1,000 per location per year and Greetly Essential is $99 a month.
The free plan runs out fast
Basic is free but capped at 100 entries a month, one location and a 50-person directory. A front desk with five visitors a working day hits that in a month. There is no published middle tier: you jump from free to Premium.
iPad, and only iPad
Envoy Visitors runs only on iPad and on no other tablet. Add a supported badge printer, a Brother QL-820NWB. Reviewers call that hardware a cost they did not plan for, and one wishes they could use Android devices instead.
Renewal price increases
An IT services manager complains about a price increase with "very little change" to the platform. If you stay, negotiate a cap on increases before you sign.
Modules stack up
Envoy bills each product separately. Desk, room and parking reservations cost $5 per bookable resource per month, plus a platform fee that is not published. A company that wants visitors and desks pays for two subscriptions.
Your data goes 30 days after you do
While you are a customer, Envoy keeps your visitor log indefinitely and deletes only on explicit request. Once you cancel, it keeps the data for 30 days, then destroys it. If your log is evidence for security, audits or insurance, export it first.
You're leaving because… go to…

Envoy alternatives, tool by tool
For each tool: why switch to it, who it fits, its limit, how to move from Envoy, and what it costs. Prices are from the official pricing pages in 2026, before tax, in the currency the vendor shows.
The tools
Sign In App: visitors, staff sign-in and desks in one plan
The most completeWhy switch to Sign In App. Envoy sells a product per use case. Sign In App bundles visitor check-in, employee time and attendance, and desk booking into one subscription per site. Core is £415, Enhanced £835 and Pro £1,255 per site per year, with unlimited sign-ins, employees and connected iPads. The Receptionist for iPad now describes itself as Sign In App, and SwipedOn's pricing page redirects there too, so if either was on your shortlist, this is where they landed.
Who it fits. Companies with 50 to a few hundred staff that want one front-desk system, including a live list of who is on site for evacuations.
Who it doesn't fit. Offices that need more than 100 bookable desks: that is the cap on Pro.
Its limit. Bookable desks cap at 50 on Enhanced and 100 on Pro; time tracking caps at 50 and 500 employees. Hardware is extra: £100 for a floor stand, £250 for the RFID badge reader, plus £14.95 delivery per location. No extra discounts below 10 sites.
How to switch. Start the 15-day free trial, no card needed. Export your Envoy history first, then set up one pilot site before moving the others.
- Paid
- Core £415/site/year
- Trial
- 15 days, no card
- Included
- unlimited sign-ins and iPads
- Limit
- 50 desks on Enhanced
Visitly: pay monthly, no annual lock-in
The most flexibleWhy switch to Visitly. Envoy's annual contract is often the real blocker. Visitly bills monthly: Starter at $100 per location per month, Business at $200. Pay annually and it drops to $1,000 and $2,000 per location, roughly 17% less.
Who it fits. An office that already has iPads and wants control over contract length and over how long visitor data is kept.
Who it doesn't fit. Android kiosks: Visitly runs on iPad, like Envoy.
Its limit. Starter covers up to 5 sites and 2 iPads per site. Watchlist and photo ID screening need Business. The 14-day trial is only listed for Starter.
How to switch. Keep your iPads and printer, install Visitly, and set the retention period in the location settings on day one: older visit records are then deleted for good. Envoy only does that on request.
- Paid
- Starter $100/location/month
- Annual
- $1,000/location/year
- Trial
- 14 days on Starter
- Limit
- 2 iPads per site on Starter
Greetly: hosts and visitors text each other
Best for host-visitor messagingWhy switch to Greetly. Greetly charges a flat monthly price with unlimited users, check-ins and hosts: Essential at $99 and Pro at $159 a month, billed yearly. Pro adds badge printing, two-way texting between host and visitor, government ID verification, US driver's license scanning, Zapier and multiple kiosks.
Who it fits. A US office where the host wants to reply "down in two minutes" straight to the visitor's phone.
Who it doesn't fit. A European company that needs a euro contract and EU data hosting: the pricing page says nothing about either.
Its limit. No free trial is listed. Everything goes through a demo.
How to switch. Book the demo with your Envoy sign-in flow open next to you, and check that every question and NDA can be rebuilt word for word.
- Paid
- Essential $99/month, billed yearly
- Pro
- $159/month, billed yearly
- Included
- unlimited hosts and check-ins
- Limit
- no trial, demo only
Vizito: lowest per-site price, EU data hosting
Best value per siteWhy switch to Vizito. It answers the three main complaints about Envoy. Price: Standard is $29.95, Pro $59.95 and Enterprise $99.95 per site per month billed annually, with unlimited hosts, users, kiosks and QR codes. Hardware: the kiosk runs on iPad, Android tablets or a PC. Data: EU hosting is included on every plan.
Who it fits. A company with one to a few sites that wants a low, predictable price and a free choice of tablet.
Who it doesn't fit. Teams that also want desk and room booking in the same tool: Vizito focuses on the front desk.
Its limit. Standard covers up to 100 records and 100 texts a month, Pro 300 and 300. Nothing is blocked above that, but sustained overage moves you up a plan.
How to switch. Start the 14-day free trial, no card needed, on the tablet you already own. Rebuild your sign-in questions and NDA, import hosts, then run both tools side by side for a week. Vizito also has an API endpoint to export the visitor log.
- Paid
- Standard $29.95/site/month
- Trial
- 14 days, no card
- Kiosk
- iPad, Android, PC
- Limit
- 100 records/month on Standard
VisitUs: a free plan that doesn't count visitors
Most generous free planWhy switch to VisitUs. Envoy's free plan stops at 100 entries a month. VisitUs Core includes unlimited visitor sign-ins and never expires. You then add paid modules (notifications, compliance, pre-registration) per location, each with a 7-day free trial.
Who it fits. A small office, clinic or nonprofit with daily visitors and no front-desk budget.
Who it doesn't fit. Buyers who want one all-in price: every module adds to the bill, site by site.
Its limit. Core covers the basics. Host notifications and pre-registration need modules, at $10 per location per month each, so do the sums before rolling out several sites. Annual billing is listed at 20% off.
How to switch. Sign up without a card, set up the kiosk, rebuild your sign-in questions, and trial each module you need for its 7 days before you cancel Envoy.
- Free
- unlimited sign-ins
- Modules
- per location, 7-day trial
- Annual
- 20% off
- Limit
- modules from $10/site/month

Leave Envoy in six steps
Order matters: each step protects something, your log, your signed NDAs, or Monday morning at the front desk.
The steps
List everything that runs around the front desk
Day 1Write down your sites, iPads and printers, sign-in flow, NDAs, watchlist and every integration (directory, chat, access control). Envoy connects to over 100 tools: the ones you forget will stop working on switch day.
- Time
- about an hour per site
- Risk if rushed
- a forgotten integration
Export the full log, not just this month
FirstEnvoy lets you export visitor data for a day, a date range or your full history. Take the full history for each site and store it outside Envoy. After cancellation, your data stays for 30 days before it is destroyed.
- Deadline
- 30 days after cancelling
- Scope
- full history per site
Decide how long you keep visit records
PrivacyYour log holds names, companies, sometimes photos and IDs. Pick a retention period and set it in the new tool from day one (Visitly, for one, auto-deletes records past the period you choose). Don't import years of history you don't need.
- Question
- why keep each visit
Run one pilot site in parallel
Week 1Install the new tool at one site, next to Envoy, during its trial. Rebuild questions, NDAs and badges, then put real visitors through it. Whatever breaks at one site breaks everywhere.
- Length
- one week
- Test
- one real printed badge
Import hosts and switch notifications
SwitchImport your employee directory, check that every host gets a notification, then tell the team. A host who stops getting alerts leaves a visitor stuck in the lobby.
- Check
- one test alert per host
Cancel Envoy after the switch and before renewal
LastCancel once every site has moved, and before your annual renewal date. Keep the iPads and printer: they still work with Visitly, Sign In App or Vizito.
- Check
- renewal date

What makes an Envoy exit go wrong
The expensive mistakes are almost never technical. They are oversights, and you pay for them in lost history or visitors stuck at reception.
Cancelling before exporting
Thirty days after cancellation, Envoy destroys your data. If an auditor or insurer asks who was on site on a given day, you have nothing left. Export the full history for each site first.
Buying hardware you don't need
Visitly and Sign In App run on iPad, so keep the ones you have. Vizito also takes Android and PC. Check your badge printer during the trial before buying a new one.
Picking a plan by site count only
Vizito counts records per month, Sign In App counts desks and tracked employees, Visitly counts iPads per site. Compare on your real numbers. Our ranking of visitor management software breaks down those units.
Forgetting the NDAs
If visitors sign an agreement on arrival, rebuild it word for word and keep the signatures you exported from Envoy. A silently changed NDA is weaker evidence.
Missing the renewal date
Envoy's annual contract renews if you do nothing. Put the date in your calendar at the start of the project, with a month of margin.
- Full history exported for each site
- Retention period set in the new tool
- Sign-in flow and NDAs rebuilt word for word
- Pilot site validated with real visitors
- Test alert received by every host
- Cancellation done before renewal
Envoy alternatives: frequently asked questions
What is the best free alternative to Envoy?
VisitUs. Its Core plan is free, never expires and doesn't cap sign-ins, while Envoy's free plan stops at 100 entries a month. Host notifications and pre-registration are paid modules. For other options, see our ranking of visitor management software.
Does Envoy work on Android tablets?
No. Envoy Visitors is only available for iPad and works with no other tablet. If you want Android or a PC at the desk, Vizito supports both on every plan.
How much does Envoy cost in 2026?
Basic is free (100 entries a month, one location, 50 people in the directory). Premium is $362 per location per month, billed annually, via a quote. Enterprise is custom and includes 500 ID scans a year. Desk and room reservations are billed on top.
What happens to my data when I cancel Envoy?
Envoy keeps it for 30 days after cancellation, then deletes or destroys it. While you subscribe, it keeps everything indefinitely and purges only on request. Export each site's full history before you leave.
What happened to SwipedOn and The Receptionist?
Both now point to Sign In App: SwipedOn's pricing page redirects to Sign In App's, and The Receptionist's pricing page calls itself "now Sign In App". If you were comparing them, compare Sign In App.
Can I keep my iPads when I leave Envoy?
Yes, with Visitly, Sign In App or Vizito, which all run on iPad. Visitly Starter allows 2 iPads per site; Sign In App doesn't cap them. Check your badge printer during the trial.
Is there an Envoy alternative with month-to-month billing?
Yes. Visitly bills Starter at $100 and Business at $200 per location per month, with annual billing about 17% cheaper. Greetly and Envoy Premium are billed yearly.
