Claude Chronograph connectorWhat Claude can do in your Chronograph account.

The Claude Chronograph connector exposes 7 tools: 6 read, 0 write, and 1 that no official source describes. They reach the portfolio monitoring data a private capital team keeps in Chronograph, plus the platform's own help center, and they stay within what your Chronograph login can see.

Overview

What changes when Claude can read your Chronograph portfolio

Chronograph holds the fund performance, commitments and underlying company data that limited partners and general partners track. With the connector, an investment team asks its question in plain English and Claude pulls the figures itself, from top exposures to net IRR across commitments, then writes the analysis around them instead of leaving you with a spreadsheet export.

Prepare a performance review. Before an investment committee, an analyst asks for NAV, called and distributed capital, unfunded commitments, net IRR and net MOIC across the programme; commitment-history calculates those aggregates.

Spot concentration risk. A portfolio manager wants the largest company exposures by unrealized value; top-exposures lists them by investment status with company details.

Research a manager or a company. Ahead of a re-up decision, entity-search locates the fund, group or general partner by a partial name, and investment-metrics computes the specific measures the team wants to compare.

What it will not do: according to Anthropic's tutorial, Claude cannot reach documents, custom fields, or metrics that require a Primary Metric Type label. No tool on the sheet records anything in Chronograph, and nothing runs by itself when a capital call lands: Claude only answers while you are talking to it. The Integrations hub lists the platforms we document.

Vocabulary

Five words before you connect

The vocabulary Claude uses around this connector, in one minute.

Connector
The link you set up once between Claude and an account you already own, so Claude can work on it while it answers you.
Tool
One named thing a connector lets Claude do on that account. Claude picks the ones it needs; the directory sheet lists them by name.
Authorization
The sign-in screen of Chronograph itself, where you grant Claude the access it uses afterwards. Given once per person, and revocable.
Approval
The confirmation Claude waits for before it changes something in an account, shown in the conversation when it matters.
MCP
The shared standard connectors are built on: it is what lets an assistant such as Claude talk to an outside service like Chronograph.
Connect

Connect Chronograph to Claude in three steps

  1. 01

    Find Chronograph in your settings

Open Claude's settings, go to Customize, then Connectors, and look for Chronograph. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, an Owner or Primary Owner has to enable it for the organization before members can sign in individually.

  2. 02

    Start the connection

Click Connect on its row, then sign in to your Chronograph account in the browser tab Chronograph opens. A confirmation appears once it works. If the link breaks later, Disconnect and connect again.

  3. 03

    Read the authorization screen

Check what Chronograph's authorization screen says before you accept. It belongs to the service, not to Claude, and it sets the scope of the access. You can also withdraw that access later from the Chronograph side.

Tools

The 7 tools, grouped by what they do

Chronograph gives Claude 7 tools: 6 that read your account, 0 that change something in it, and 1 no official source describes.

Two groups: six tools that read portfolio data or documentation, and one that no source describes. Names stay exactly as Claude shows them.

6 tools

Six tools that search, list and calculate from your Chronograph data and help center without touching anything.

query-help-center-documentation

Looks for relevant articles in Chronograph's help documentation so Claude can answer a platform question with the vendor's own guidance rather than a guess.

When it helps
an operations lead wants to know how a feature of the platform is meant to be used before rolling it out to the team.

get-help-center-article

Retrieves the complete text of a Chronograph help article, typically one surfaced by the documentation search, so Claude can quote or summarise the full procedure.

When it helps
a client team is replacing hard-coded spreadsheet models and needs the exact steps from the platform's guide.

top-exposures

Lists your largest company exposures by investment status, Invested, Realized or Unrealized, along with company details useful for monitoring and risk review.

When it helps
the CIO asks which underlying companies dominate unrealized value across all funds this quarter, ahead of the board meeting.

commitment-history

Calculates aggregate values across your commitment history: NAV, Called, Distributed, Unfunded, Net IRR, Net MOIC and Commitment Amount, all at once.

When it helps
an LP prepares the annual meeting deck and needs programme-level figures in one answer, without rebuilding them by hand from fund statements.

investment-metrics

Computes individual metrics across specific investments, for aggregation and performance tracking. It can also enumerate the metric options available before the real calculation runs.

When it helps
a team builds a tailored report on technology holdings with its own choice of measures.
Watch out
Anthropic suggests a first call with the help option to see the available metrics.

Not documented (1)

1 tool

The directory publishes this tool's name and nothing else. Without a source, we do not guess what it does.

run-query

No official source documents this tool: the directory sheet publishes its name only, and neither Anthropic's tutorial nor Chronograph's announcement describes it. We do not infer anything from the name.

Watch out
the general approval rule below applies to it like to any other tool.
Approvals

What Claude asks before acting

By default, Claude stops and asks for your go-ahead before each action it takes on an account for you. Six of the seven tools are documented as reading only; the seventh is not documented at all.

On Team and Enterprise workspaces, owners decide whether members may let some actions through without being asked each time. They can also limit what a connector may do for the whole organization, for example keeping reading and closing writing, and nobody overrides that from their own account. Claude works with the rights of the person who connected it: what your Chronograph login cannot see, Claude cannot see either.

Plans

Which plans include it

None of the 819 sheets in the official directory shows availability by plan. Connector by connector, that answer is published nowhere by Anthropic: it is a real gap in the catalogue.

What Anthropic publishes is the general rule: remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile, and on Team and Enterprise an Owner or Primary Owner turns a connector on before members connect. Chronograph's own announcement says something more specific, set out with its date in the limits below. For your account, the connector's sheet in the official directory is the reference.

Limits

Where this connector stops

A connector is not an automation. Claude calls these tools while it answers you; nothing fires when a capital call, a distribution or a valuation update arrives.

The tool list is an observed floor, not a promise: an administrator can open actions that no public sheet shows. The verification badge is not a security audit, and Anthropic states on every sheet that it does not control which tools a publisher exposes. Here, Anthropic's tutorial and Chronograph's announcement are the only public sources; Chronograph's own help article sits behind a client login. To see how another partner connector is documented, read the Claude affinity connector page.

Two official sources disagree

Which Claude plans can use the Chronograph connector?

What this page followsAnthropic's rule covers every connector; Chronograph's line targets this one but comes from the publisher, in an October 2025 announcement. Neither settles it for your account: check the connector's sheet in the directory while signed in.

FAQ

Questions about the Claude Chronograph connector

01What can Claude do with the Chronograph connector?
Claude can read your private capital portfolio data in Chronograph and its help center. Six documented tools list top company exposures by investment status, calculate commitment history aggregates such as NAV, net IRR and net MOIC, compute individual investment metrics, find companies, funds and general partners by partial name, and search or open help articles. A seventh tool, run-query, appears on the directory sheet but no official source describes what it does.
02Can Claude record or change data in Chronograph?
No documented tool writes. The six described tools search, list and calculate, and none records a commitment, edits an entity or uploads a file. The seventh tool has no public description, so we cannot say what it does either way. A read-only sheet is the floor observed today, not a guarantee, because an administrator can open actions no public page shows. Treat the connector as a way to query your data in plain English.
03Does Claude ask before it pulls my portfolio figures?
Claude's default rule is to ask for confirmation before any action it takes on an account on your behalf. No source describes a specific confirmation for the Chronograph tools, so this general rule applies to all seven, including the undocumented one. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, owners also decide whether members may let some actions run without a new prompt each time, and they can restrict the connector for everyone.
04Which Claude plans include the Chronograph connector?
Anthropic does not publish plan availability connector by connector, and none of the 819 directory sheets shows it. Its general rule is that remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile, with an Owner or Primary Owner enabling them first on Team and Enterprise. Chronograph's October 2025 announcement adds its own condition, quoted in the limits section. The directory sheet on your account is the place to confirm.
05Does Claude see every fund in our Chronograph instance?
No, Claude sees what the person who connected can see, and nothing more. The sign-in happens on Chronograph's own page, so the access follows that user's rights in the platform. On top of that, Anthropic's tutorial says Claude cannot currently reach documents, custom fields, or metrics that require a Primary Metric Type label. If a colleague cannot open a fund in Chronograph, Claude will not open it for them either.
06Why does my Chronograph connector fail to connect?
A frequent cause is that access has not been arranged with Chronograph yet. Anthropic's tutorial explains that you need to contact Chronograph to get access, and that an organization Owner then adds the connector with the details Chronograph supplies. Individual users can only connect afterwards, by signing in to their Chronograph account in the tab that opens. Check those two steps before anything else. Once both are in place, a broken link can be reset with Disconnect, then Connect again.
07Claude or an automation tool for Chronograph reporting?
They answer different needs, so the choice depends on the task rather than on a ranking. Claude suits questions asked on the spot, such as a quick exposure check before a meeting or a comparison of two managers, and it only acts while you are talking to it. An automation tool suits repeated jobs that run without you, such as a monthly report sent to a list. Many teams end up using both for different jobs.
