Overview

What the 6clicks Zapier integration actually does

It ties your 6clicks workspace, where risk and compliance work gets tracked, to the rest of your tools through Zapier. Zapier watches 6clicks for new or changed issues, incidents, issue actions and risks. It can also write into 6clicks: open an issue, add an issue action, update one, or add an item to a custom register. Nobody copies a record by hand.

Every risk gets a tracked issue. An IT security lead logs a risk in 6clicks. New Risk starts the automation and Create Issue or Incident opens the issue that will carry the fix, so nothing stays as a note in a risk list.

Remediation starts on day one. An internal auditor raises an incident. New Issue or Incident hands it to Create Issue Action, which attaches a first action to it on the next check, ready to be assigned.

Outside requests become register entries. A procurement team collects supplier details in another app. Create Custom Register Item turns each one into a row of the custom register they already keep in 6clicks.

What Zapier does not do here. None of the 6 triggers is instant: all of them are checked on a timer. There is no search step, so a Zap cannot look up an existing issue by name. No action creates or edits a risk, and nothing deletes a record. If those gaps matter, weigh the options in n8n vs Zapier and Make vs Zapier before you build.

Vocabulary

Zapier vocabulary in one minute

Eight words come back on every line of this page. Here they are in plain English.

Zap
The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time the trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts the Zap, such as a new risk in 6clicks. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it.
Action
What the Zap does after it starts: the step that creates, updates or sends something for you, in 6clicks or elsewhere.
Task
The unit Zapier bills. One task is one action your Zap completes successfully, and your plan counts those.
Polling vs instant
A polling trigger is checked on a timer for new items. An instant trigger is reported by the app the moment it happens. 6clicks only polls.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap continue only when the incoming record meets a condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
Multi-step Zap
Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A second action or a filter makes one, and it then needs a paid plan.
Connection
Your 6clicks account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every step that talks to 6clicks.
Cost

What it really costs

6clicks is not a premium app, so it runs on the free plan. The bill is counted in tasks, and only completed actions count.

  • Free plan tasks100 per month
  • Free plan Zap size2 steps: 1 trigger, 1 action
  • Premium appNo
  • Instant triggers0 of 6

Watching 6clicks costs nothing, however often Zapier checks. Each action that succeeds costs one task, so a Zap with three actions uses three times what a one-action Zap uses. A failed action is not counted. The free plan gives you 100 tasks a month and Zaps of two steps only. Add a filter or a second action and you need a paid plan. Keep in mind that the triggers of 6clicks start a run on every new or edited record they see, so the action count, not the checking, is what fills your monthly budget.

Connect

Connect 6clicks to Zapier in three steps

  1. 01

    Open your connections

Go to the Apps page of your Zapier account and click + Add connection. A dialog opens with a search box. You only do this once: every Zap that uses 6clicks reuses the same connection.

  2. 02

    Pick 6clicks

Type 6clicks in the search box, select it, then click Add connection. A new browser tab opens on the 6clicks side, where you sign in with the account the Zaps should act as.

  3. 03

    Grant access

Allow Zapier to use that account. It needs a 6clicks account of its own, plus read or write access to any issue, risk or register you do not own but want a Zap to touch.

First Zap

Your first Zap: an action plan for every new incident

GoalEach new issue or incident in 6clicks gets a first issue action attached to it, so the remediation work has an owner-ready starting point.

  1. 01

    Create the Zap

Start a new Zap in Zapier. Choose 6clicks as the app that starts it and New Issue or Incident as the event, then select your 6clicks connection.

  2. 02

    Test the trigger

Run the trigger test, and Zapier brings back the three most recent issues of the connected account. Pick a real one. It becomes the sample you map fields from in the next steps, so choose an incident that looks like the ones you expect.

  3. 03

    Add the action

Add 6clicks again as the action app and choose Create Issue Action. Fill Action Name with the wording your team uses for a first remediation step.

  4. 04

    Map the linked issue

In Linked issue, insert the issue that came from the trigger step. That mapping is what ties each new action to the incident that started the Zap.

  5. 05

    Test, then publish

Test the action once and check in 6clicks that the action sits under the right incident. Then click Publish to switch the Zap on. Two steps, so the free plan covers it.

Triggers

6clicks triggers

6 events start a Zap when something happens in 6clicks. Zapier checks for them at the interval your plan allows.

1

New Issue or Incident

Polling trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new issue or incident is created.”

Starts your Zap each time someone records a fresh issue or incident in 6clicks, and passes that record to the next step.

How it fires
Zapier goes and looks at regular intervals, and how often depends on your plan: every 15 minutes on the free one.
When to use it
you want each incident to open a follow-up action, a register entry or a message in another tool without anyone remembering to do it.
Watch out
it reacts to creation only. An incident edited later will not set it off again, which is the job of Updated Issue or Incident.
2

New Issue Action

Polling trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new issue action is created.”

Fires when a remediation action gets added to an issue, so the work item itself can travel to the place your team plans its week.

How it fires
Zapier goes and looks at regular intervals, and how often depends on your plan: every 15 minutes on the free one.
When to use it
actions are assigned in 6clicks but the people doing them live in a project tool or a shared calendar.
Watch out
if a Zap built on New Issue or Incident already creates actions, this trigger will catch those too, so check you are not counting the same work twice.
3

New Risk

Polling trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new risk is created.”

Picks up each risk added to the 6clicks risk register, which makes it the natural start for anything that should happen once a risk is on file.

How it fires
Zapier goes and looks at regular intervals, and how often depends on your plan: every 15 minutes on the free one.
When to use it
a new risk should open an issue, alert a risk owner, or be copied into a reporting sheet for the next committee.
Watch out
no action on this app creates or changes a risk, so the risk itself stays managed inside 6clicks.
4

Updated Issue or Incident

Polling trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when an issue or incident is updated.”

Reacts to changes on an existing issue or incident rather than to new ones, so a status move or an edit can ripple out to other tools.

How it fires
Zapier goes and looks at regular intervals, and how often depends on your plan: every 15 minutes on the free one.
When to use it
stakeholders outside 6clicks need to hear when an incident they reported moves forward.
Watch out
every edit counts as an update. Add a filter on the change you care about, which makes the Zap multi-step and puts it on a paid plan.
5

Updated Issue Action

Polling trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when issue action is updated.”

Watches remediation actions that already exist and starts the Zap when one of them changes, such as progress being recorded against it.

How it fires
Zapier goes and looks at regular intervals, and how often depends on your plan: every 15 minutes on the free one.
When to use it
a manager tracks remediation in a separate dashboard and wants it to follow what happens in 6clicks.
Watch out
never pair it with Update Issue Action on the same records. The Zap would edit an action, see the edit, and start again in a loop.
6

Updated Risk

Polling trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a risk is updated.”

Signals that a risk already in the register has been edited, which is the moment a reassessment or a change of owner usually needs to be shared.

How it fires
Zapier goes and looks at regular intervals, and how often depends on your plan: every 15 minutes on the free one.
When to use it
the leadership team follows the top risks in a spreadsheet and that copy should stay current.
Watch out
since minor edits count too, a busy register can burn through tasks. Narrow it with a filter if you are on a paid plan.
Actions

6clicks actions

6clicks gives you 4 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Create Issue or Incident

Action

In Zapier“Creates a new issue or incident”

Opens a new issue or incident in 6clicks from whatever arrived in the trigger, such as a report sent from another app.

When to use it
incidents get reported outside 6clicks and someone currently retypes them.
Watch out
Issue Name and Identified By are both required, so the trigger has to supply something for each.
2

Create Issue Action

Action

In Zapier“Creates a new issue action”

Adds a remediation action under an existing issue, which gives the follow-up work a place in 6clicks.

When to use it
every incident of a certain kind always needs the same first step.
Watch out
Linked issue is required. Map it from the trigger, or the action has nothing to attach to.
3

Create Custom Register Item

Action

In Zapier“Creates a new record in a custom register”

Writes a new record into one of the custom registers you have set up in 6clicks, from a supplier list to an asset inventory.

When to use it
data collected in a form or spreadsheet belongs in a register your auditors already read.
Watch out
pick the Custom Register first, since it is required and decides which fields follow.
4

Update Issue Action

Action

In Zapier“Update an issue action”

Changes an issue action that already exists, so progress logged in another tool shows up in 6clicks too.

When to use it
people close tasks in a project tool and the matching action in 6clicks should follow.
Watch out
the Action field is required, and with no search step on this app, the Zap must already carry which action to update.
When it breaks

When it breaks

Zapier lists no help article and no rate limit of its own for 6clicks. What breaks is the general behavior of every Zap.

Four situations account for most surprises with this app. If one of them hits you, the Zapier troubleshooting page walks through the diagnosis.

  • Old records are ignored

A Zap only reacts to what happens after you switch it on. The issues and risks already in 6clicks are never picked up; moving that backlog is a separate job.
  • The update loop

Updated Issue Action plus Update Issue Action on the same records makes the Zap restart itself after each run, and the task count drains fast.
  • Bulk imports get held back

After a migration or a large import into 6clicks, a trigger can suddenly return a huge batch. Zapier's flood protection may hold it back instead of running everything.
  • No double runs

Zapier remembers which items a polling trigger has already seen, so the same risk or issue does not start the Zap twice.

FAQ

6clicks Zapier integration: frequent questions

01Is the 6clicks Zapier integration free?
Yes, as long as each Zap stays at two steps. 6clicks is not a premium app, so the free plan can use it. That plan gives you 100 tasks a month, any number of Zaps, and checks for new items every 15 minutes. The catch is size: one trigger and one action, nothing more. Opening an issue for each new risk fits. Adding a filter so that only high-impact risks go through does not, because a filter turns it into a multi-step Zap and that needs a paid plan.
02How many tasks does a 6clicks Zap use?
One task per action that completes, and nothing for the trigger. Zapier checking 6clicks for new risks or incidents is free, however often it looks. If a Zap opens an issue and then adds an issue action to it, each successful run costs two tasks. An action that fails is not counted. The trap is the Updated triggers: every small edit in 6clicks starts a run, so a busy register can use far more tasks than the number of real changes you care about.
03Does 6clicks trigger Zaps in real time?
No. All 6 triggers of this app are polling triggers: Zapier asks 6clicks for new items on a timer rather than being told the moment something happens. On the free plan the check runs every 15 minutes, on Professional every 2 minutes, and on Team and Enterprise every minute. On paid plans you can also run a check by hand from the editor. Nothing in the editor turns a polling trigger into an instant one, since that is decided by the app.
04What does connecting 6clicks to Zapier require?
A 6clicks account, and access rights on whatever the Zaps will touch. If you plan to add actions to issues raised by colleagues, or write into a custom register someone else built, the connected account needs read or write access to those records. The connection itself takes three moves: Apps, then + Add connection, then signing in to 6clicks in the tab that opens and granting access. Every Zap that uses 6clicks then reuses that single connection.
05Why does a 6clicks Zap keep running on the same issue action?
Because it is probably watching what it writes. A Zap that starts on Updated Issue Action and ends with Update Issue Action on the same action edits the record, then sees that edit as a new update, then runs again. Each loop costs a task. Break it by pointing the action at a different record, or by adding a filter that stops the run when nothing useful changed, which requires a paid plan.
06What if the 6clicks operation you want is not in Zapier?
Then that job cannot be done with this app's operations alone. The list is short: six triggers about issues, issue actions and risks, and four actions that create issues, issue actions or register items and update issue actions. There is no action to create or edit a risk, nothing that deletes, and no search to find an existing record. A compliance team that needs those moves has to keep them inside 6clicks or look at another automation tool.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for 6clicks?
Decide on criteria rather than on a ranking. First, coverage: check that the triggers and actions listed here match the job, since this page only documents what Zapier offers. Second, budget: Zapier bills per successful action, and the free plan stops at two steps. Third, who maintains it: a risk team without developers will want an editor it can read without help. Run the same scenario through each tool and compare what it costs per month for your volume.
