Fellow Zapier integrationAutomate Fellow with Zapier.
The Fellow Zapier integration has 5 triggers, 3 actions and 0 searches. All five triggers are instant, so a new AI note or an assigned action item reaches your other tools at once, even on the free plan. Three actions let a Zap answer back into Fellow.

What the Fellow Zapier integration is good for
Fellow is an AI meeting assistant that records meetings and summarizes them, with a strong focus on privacy. Zapier is the service that connects apps so information moves without you copying it. Together they get meeting outcomes, notes and action items, out of Fellow and into the tools where work actually happens.
Three results teams build. Meeting notes that file themselves: New AI Note starts a Zap whenever Fellow produces a note, and Get AI Note fetches a note by its ID when a later step needs it. Action items that never get lost: Action Item Assigned to Me fires the moment something lands on your plate, and Action Item Completed tells the rest of your stack when it is done. Agendas that build up between meetings: Add Talking Point drops a point into a meeting stream so it is waiting for the next session.
One trigger is different from the others: Note Sent to Zapier only fires when someone chooses it by hand from the Send Notes menu of a note. It is the trigger to use when you want a person to decide which notes leave Fellow.
What Zapier does not do here: there is no search step, so you work with IDs that earlier steps carry. For other platforms, see the Fellow Make integration, and our Make vs Zapier comparison is the next page to read.
Zapier words in one minute
Seven terms carry this page. Each keeps the meaning given here.
- Zap
- An automation you build in Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run every time the trigger event happens.
- Trigger
- The event that starts a Zap. With Fellow, things like a new AI note or an action item assigned to you.
- Action
- What the Zap does once it runs: here, completing an action item, adding a talking point or fetching a note.
- Task
- Zapier's billing unit: one action that completes successfully. Your plan allowance is counted in these.
- Instant vs polling
- An instant trigger is reported by the app as it happens; a polling trigger is checked by Zapier on a timer.
- Filter
- A step that lets the Zap continue only when the incoming data meets a condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
- Connection
- Your Fellow account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every Fellow step in all your Zaps.
What a Fellow Zap costs
Fellow is not a premium app: it runs on Zapier's free plan.
- Free plan100 tasks a month
- Steps per Zap on Free2 (trigger + action)
- Fellow triggers5, all instant
- Premium appNo
Triggers are free: a new note or a completed action item never uses a task. Each action that succeeds uses one, and a failed action is not counted. Fetching a note and then adding a talking point costs two tasks per run. The free plan includes 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, but each Zap is capped at two steps: one trigger and one action. A second action or a filter makes it a multi-step Zap, which needs a paid plan. All five Fellow triggers are instant, so the polling grid below never delays them, on any plan.
Connect Fellow to Zapier
- 01
Open Apps
In your Zapier account, go to Apps and click + Add connection. You need a Fellow account already; Zapier links an existing account and does not create one.
- 02
Select Fellow
Search for Fellow in the dialog, pick it, then click Add connection. A new tab opens on the Fellow side, where you finish the connection with your login.
- 03
Sign in and allow access
Log in to Fellow in that tab and grant Zapier access. If the meeting streams or notes you want to touch belong to a colleague, check that your account can read and write them.
Your first Zap: turn a shared note into a talking point
GoalWhen you send a note to Zapier from Fellow, the Zap fetches the full AI note and adds a talking point to the stream of your next meeting.
- 01
Build: pick the trigger
Create a Zap, choose Fellow and Note Sent to Zapier. It is instant and fires only when someone uses the Send Notes menu of a note in Fellow.
- 02
Test on a real note
Send a note from Fellow, then run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent items, so you can map the next steps on real content.
- 03
Fetch the AI note
Add Get AI Note and map the note's ID from the trigger into Note ID. Test it and read what comes back before going any further.
- 04
Add the talking point
Add Add Talking Point, set the Stream ID of the target meeting and map the text you want. This second action makes the Zap multi-step: paid plan.
- 05
Publish
Click Publish to switch it on. Notes sent before that moment are not picked up; only notes sent afterwards start the Zap.
The 5 Fellow triggers
5 events start a Zap when something happens in Fellow, and 5 of them are instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.
Action Item Completed
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when an action item is completed.”
Starts a Zap when someone ticks off an action item in Fellow. That makes it a clean signal for closing the loop in another tool: a ticket, a project card or a client update can follow without a status meeting.
AI Note Shared to Channel
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when an AI Note is shared to a channel, either manually or automatically”
Fires when an AI note is shared to a channel, whether a person shared it by hand or Fellow did it automatically. It catches notes when they become visible to a group, not when they are generated.
Action Item Assigned to Me
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when an action item is assigned to you.”
Follows the action items assigned to you, the person who connected Fellow, and starts a Zap for each one. It is personal by design: it follows your own to-do list, not the whole team's.
New AI Note
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers every time an AI Note is generated or re-generated, including uploads”
Fires every time Fellow generates an AI note, including for uploaded recordings, and again whenever a note is regenerated. It is the broadest of the note triggers, covering every meeting Fellow summarizes.
Note Sent to Zapier
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Manually triggered within Fellow from the "Send Notes" menu, available in every note.”
Fires only when someone in Fellow opens the Send Notes menu of a note, available on every note, and sends it to Zapier. Nothing happens on its own: a person decides, note by note, what leaves Fellow.
The 3 Fellow actions
Fellow gives you 3 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.
Operations index
Complete Action Item
ActionIn Zapier“Marks an action item as complete.”
Marks an action item as done in Fellow. You find it either by its ID or by its text; a text match must be exact, though capital letters do not matter.
Add Talking Point
ActionIn Zapier“Creates a talking point in a specified stream.”
Creates a talking point in the meeting stream you specify, ready for the people who follow that stream. Two required fields: the Stream ID and the Talking Point Text.
Get AI Note
ActionIn Zapier“Gets an AI note by ID.”
Fetches an AI note from Fellow using its Note ID, so the following steps can use its content. It reads, it does not change the note.
When a Fellow Zap misbehaves
Zapier attaches no help article to Fellow, so these cases come from Zapier's general limits and from how the Fellow triggers behave.
Two patterns explain most of the cases below: notes that fire again when they are regenerated, and Zaps that react to their own changes. Test each step on a real note or action item before publishing. If you are still stuck, our Zapier troubleshooting team can review it with you.
The same note arrives twice
New AI Note fires on generation and again on regeneration. A Zap that creates a record for each note can create two for the same meeting.A completion loop
A Zap that starts on Action Item Completed and runs Complete Action Item can set itself off again and burn through your tasks.Past meetings are skipped
A Zap only reacts to what happens after it is published. Older notes and action items are not picked up; moving them is a separate job.A bulk upload is held back
Uploading many recordings at once can trip Zapier's flood protection, which holds the runs back instead of firing them all.
