What the JivoChat Zapier integration actually does
It's a one-way bridge. JivoChat runs live chat on your website, plus Facebook, email and phone conversations. Zapier listens for a single thing: a chat that an agent has just closed. When that happens, Zapier carries it into another app of your choice. JivoChat never receives anything back.
One trigger sounds thin. In practice it covers the moment that matters most: the conversation is over, and someone has to do something with it. Three results you can build on New Chat Finished:
A log of every closed chat. Each finished conversation lands as a new line in a spreadsheet or a database, so your support lead reviews the week without opening the agent app.
A follow-up that nobody forgets. The closed chat creates a task in your project tool or a record in your CRM, and the sales rep picks it up from there.
A heads-up for the team. A message in your team chat says that a conversation just ended, so a manager can jump in on the touchy ones.
Now, what Zapier does not do with JivoChat. It cannot send a message into JivoChat, open a chat, assign an agent or look up an old conversation: the app has no action and no search on Zapier. It also won't react to a chat that is still running, only to one that has been closed. If you need JivoChat on the receiving end, Zapier can't do it for this app. Look at the JivoChat Make integration page, then weigh both platforms in our Make vs Zapier comparison.
Zapier words, in one minute
Seven terms come back on this page. Here they are in plain words, once.
- Zap
- The automation you build: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time the trigger event happens.
- Trigger
- The event in an app that starts the Zap. Here, it's a chat closed in JivoChat. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it.
- Action
- What the Zap does once started: the step that writes, sends or moves something for you, in another app in this case.
- Task
- The unit Zapier bills. One task is one action your Zap completes successfully, and your plan counts those.
- Instant vs polling
- An instant trigger is reported by the app the moment it happens. A polling trigger is checked by Zapier on a timer. JivoChat's is instant.
- Filter
- A step that lets the Zap continue only when what arrived meets your condition, and stops it otherwise.
- Connection
- Your JivoChat account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every Zap step that talks to JivoChat.
What it really costs
JivoChat isn't a premium app on Zapier, so it works on the free plan.
- TriggerFree, never counted
- Each successful action1 task
- Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps
- Premium appNo
The trigger never costs a task: a closed chat arriving is free. What you pay for is each action that succeeds, so one closed chat sent to one app is one task. An action that fails isn't counted. The free plan gives you 100 tasks a month and Zaps of two steps only: one trigger, one action. Add a filter or a second action, and it becomes a multi-step Zap, which needs a paid plan. Waiting for new chats costs nothing either: only a completed action is billed.
Connect JivoChat to Zapier
- 01
Open your apps
In Zapier, go to the Apps page of your account and click + Add connection. A dialog opens with a search box. You need a JivoChat account before you start.
- 02
Pick JivoChat
Type JivoChat in the search box, select it, then click Add connection. A new browser tab opens on the JivoChat side, where you sign in with your usual login.
- 03
Grant access
Accept the access request in that tab. The connection now shows on your Apps page, and any Zap that uses JivoChat can pick it without signing in again.
Your first Zap: closed chats into a spreadsheet
GoalEvery chat an agent closes in JivoChat becomes a new row in a sheet, ready for the weekly review.
- 01
Create the Zap
Start a new Zap. For the starting app, choose JivoChat, then the event New Chat Finished, and select the connection you made earlier.
- 02
Test the trigger
Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent closed chats of your account. Pick a real one: it's what you'll map in the next step. No closed chat yet? Close one first.
- 03
Add the action
Add the app that receives the data, here a spreadsheet, and choose the action that adds a row. Map each column to a field from the closed chat.
- 04
Test the action
Run the action once and open the sheet to check the row. Look at what came back before you go further; a wrong column is easier to fix now.
- 05
Publish
Click to publish the Zap and switch it on. From then on, each chat closed by an agent adds one row, and each row is one task on your monthly count.
The JivoChat trigger
1 event starts a Zap when something happens in JivoChat, and one of them is instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.
New Chat Finished
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a new chat is closed in JivoChat's agent application.”
Starts your Zap as soon as an agent closes a conversation in the JivoChat agent app, and hands that finished chat to the next step. It is the only door from JivoChat into Zapier, so every scenario on this page goes through it.
When it breaks
Zapier ties no help article to JivoChat, and no limit specific to the app is documented. What breaks is the general behavior of Zapier.
Four cases come back on a chat trigger. None of them show up as an error in JivoChat: you notice them in your task count or in missing rows. If a Zap still misbehaves, our Zapier troubleshooting page walks through the usual suspects.
Old chats never arrive
A Zap only reacts to what happens after it is switched on. Chats closed before you published are not picked up, and moving that backlog is a separate job.A Zap that sets itself off
If the action writes back into the very place the trigger watches, the Zap fires again and again and burns through the task count fast.A sudden flood is held back
After a bulk import or a migration, a trigger that returns a huge batch at once can be held back by Zapier's flood protection.Filter stuck on the free plan
Adding a filter or a second action turns the Zap into a multi-step Zap. On the free plan it can't run, so it needs a paid plan first.
