What the Microsystem Hotspot Zapier integration does for you
It turns what happens on your Microsystem Wi-Fi hotspot into automations. A new contact or a person who connects starts a Zap, and that Zap can update your other tools or send a WhatsApp message through Microsystem. You stop exporting contact lists and writing the same message by hand.
Three results come out of it more than any other. A welcome message that goes out by itself: New Customer picks up each new contact, and Send WhatsApp Message writes to their mobile number from Microsystem. A contact list that fills your other tools: the same New Customer trigger can feed a spreadsheet or a contact tool instead, so the data does not stay locked in the hotspot. A heads-up when someone is on site: New Online User starts the Zap when a person connects to your Wi-Fi, and the next step can tell your team.
One limit shapes everything else. Both triggers are polling triggers: Zapier checks Microsystem at the interval of your plan, every 15 minutes on the free one. Nothing here reacts at once, so plan any message around that delay rather than promising an instant reply.
What Zapier does not do here: there is a single action, Send WhatsApp Message, and no search step, so a Zap cannot look up a contact in Microsystem or change one. If your flow needs more than that, open our Make vs Zapier comparison before you build.
Zapier words in one minute
Six terms come back across this page. Here they are in plain words.
- Zap
- The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run every time that trigger event happens.
- Trigger
- The event that starts a Zap, such as a new contact on your hotspot. Once the Zap is switched on, Zapier waits for it.
- Action
- What the Zap does once it has started: the step that writes or sends something, like a WhatsApp message.
- Task
- The unit Zapier bills: one action that completes successfully. The monthly count on your plan is a count of these.
- Polling vs instant
- Polling: Zapier checks the app on a timer for new items. Instant: the app calls Zapier itself. Both Microsystem triggers poll.
- Filter
- A step that lets the Zap carry on only when what arrived meets the condition you set, and stops it there otherwise.
- Multi-step Zap
- Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A second action or a filter turns it into one, and it needs a paid plan.
What it really costs
The trigger never costs a thing, and neither do the checks Zapier runs on Microsystem. You pay in tasks: each action that completes counts as one, and an action that does not go through is not counted.
- Free plan100 tasks a month, unlimited Zaps
- Steps per Zap on free2: one trigger, one action
- Premium appNo, works on the free plan
- Instant triggers0 of 2
The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, each capped at two steps: one trigger, one action. That is exactly a new contact followed by one WhatsApp message. Add a filter or a second action and the Zap turns multi-step, which needs a paid plan. Microsystem Hotspot is not a premium app. Both of its triggers poll, so the grid below sets how quickly a new contact or a connection reaches your Zap.
Connect your Microsystem Hotspot account
- 01
Open Apps and add a connection
In your Zapier account, open the Apps page and click + Add connection. A connection is your account of an app linked to Zapier once, then reused by every step that uses Microsystem Hotspot.
- 02
Pick Microsystem Hotspot and confirm
Type Microsystem Hotspot in the search box of the dialog, select it, then click Add connection. A new tab then opens where you sign in to your Microsystem account.
- 03
Sign in and grant access
Sign in and grant Zapier access to the account. You need an account on the app, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch.
Your first Zap: a WhatsApp welcome for new contacts
GoalEach new contact on your hotspot who meets the condition you set receives a WhatsApp message sent from Microsystem.
- 01
Set the trigger
Create a Zap, pick Microsystem Hotspot and the New Customer event. It is a polling trigger, so Zapier checks for new contacts at your plan's interval.
- 02
Test the trigger
Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent items of the connected account, so you map the next steps on a real contact and see which fields come with it.
- 03
Add the filter
Add a Filter step from the plus icon and fill its three boxes: the field to look at, the rule, the value to compare with. Use a text rule on text, or it never passes.
- 04
Add the WhatsApp action
Add Send WhatsApp Message, map the contact's number into Mobile, then write the WhatsApp Message. Both fields are required, and the number needs its country code without a plus sign.
- 05
Test, then publish
Test the action once and read what came back, then click Publish to switch the Zap on. The filter makes it multi-step, so it needs a paid plan; on free, drop the filter.
Microsystem Hotspot triggers
2 events start a Zap when something happens in Microsystem Hotspot. Zapier checks for them at the interval your plan allows.
New Customer
Polling triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when there's a new contact.”
Starts the Zap when a new contact appears in Microsystem, which is how a Wi-Fi sign-up turns into a step in another tool.
New Online User
Polling triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a user gets Online and connects there Wi-Fi.”
Fires when a person goes online and connects to your Wi-Fi, so a visit becomes something your other tools can see.
Microsystem Hotspot action
Microsystem Hotspot gives you 1 action. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.
Operations index
Send WhatsApp Message
ActionIn Zapier“Send WhatsApp Message directly to your customer”
Sends a WhatsApp message to a customer's mobile number straight from your Microsystem account.
When it breaks
Zapier attaches no Microsystem Hotspot help article and no limit specific to the app, so the cases below are the ones every Zap meets.
Read them before you publish. If a Zap still stops, see our Zapier troubleshooting guide.
Nothing from before the Zap
A Zap only reacts to what happens after you switch it on. Contacts collected before are not picked up, and nobody gets a message for them; moving that backlog is a separate job.A Zap that sets itself off
As a general precaution, a Zap that writes into the place its own trigger watches can start itself again and again, and burn through your tasks.A sudden bulk batch
When a trigger returns a huge batch at once, after a bulk import of contacts or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold it back. The same item twice
On a polling trigger, Zapier keeps track of what it has already seen, so the same contact or connection does not start the Zap twice.
