Deel alternatives: where to move your global team, and how to get out cleanly
Six EOR providers matched to your reason for leaving, a price table, and an eight-step exit plan.
The short answer: Remote if you want the closest like-for-like platform and can sign an annual contract; Remofirst or Skuad if the $599 per head is the problem (both start at $199); Oyster if you want invoices in EUR, GBP or CAD; Rippling if you run a US team and want HR, payroll and devices in one system; G-P for a large company that wants volume pricing. Before you pick, know this: leaving an employer of record is not a data export. Every employee ends their contract with Deel and signs a new one with the next provider, country by country. We compared the six destinations below on their official 2026 pricing pages, and laid out the exit so nobody on your team loses a paycheck.
The ranking is editorial: a sponsored spot is always flagged on its card, and no affiliate link changes a score.
Why teams leave Deel, and why some should stay
Deel is a big, well-reviewed platform (4.0/5 in our EOR ranking): EOR in more than 130 countries, contractor payments, Contractor of Record, global payroll, a US PEO, HR and IT. Most users are happy. The ones who leave tend to cite the same things, and they usually show up once the team grows or someone needs to be let go.
$599 a head hurts at one to three hires
Deel's EOR lists at $599 per employee per month, fully managed. For a startup with two people abroad, that is $14,376 a year in fees alone, before salaries, employer taxes or benefits. Remofirst and Skuad start at $199 in some countries. Below five hires, the gap pays for a lot.
Fees that creep
The headline number is rarely the full bill. Contractor of Record is $325 a month, add-ons stack up, and contractors pay their own fees on some withdrawal methods. Users on forums put it plainly: costs climb if nobody watches the invoices.
Support that's hard to reach
The most common complaint in recent negative reviews: tickets that drag on, follow-ups that go nowhere, no human to escalate to. One customer described chasing the same email thread dozens of times. Reviews also mention slow answers at peak payroll times and invoices that needed correcting.
Money that's held
Some contractors report withdrawals frozen for weeks during account checks. If your contractors depend on Deel to get paid on time, one blocked payout damages trust with your team faster than any price increase.
Offboarding an EOR employee costs more than expected
Terminations run through the platform, and some changes can only be made by Deel support. Once the contract ends, your deposit goes into an “awaiting refund” status. Several clients describe severance calculations they disputed and deposits that took time to come back. Budget for the exit before you need it.
An order form you haven't reread
Deel's list price is month-to-month, with no long-term commitment. The one 2026 promotion on its pricing page is for the US PEO only: new PEO order forms with a two-year minimum term get three months of platform fees credited at the end of that term, and leaving early means paying the full order at list price. If you only use the EOR at list price, it doesn't apply to you. If you negotiated a discount, reread your own order form: it, not the pricing page, decides what you owe.
You're leaving Deel because… go to…

Deel alternatives, provider by provider
The cards follow the reasons people leave Deel, not our score: first the like-for-like swap, then the two cheapest options, since price is the second reason teams go, then the specific profiles. For each provider: why move to it, who it's for, who it isn't for, its limit, how to move from Deel, and what it costs. Prices are the ones each vendor shows on its own pricing page in 2026, in US dollars, per employee per month unless stated otherwise. EOR prices vary by country: treat them as starting points and ask for a written quote for each country you hire in.
Not on the list: Multiplier (3.8/5 in our EOR ranking), Papaya Global and Pebl. Their official pricing pages gave us no EOR price we could read and check this year, so we don't give them a card here.
The providers
Remote: the closest swap, if you can commit for a year
Closest to DeelWhy switch to Remote. Remote covers almost the same ground as Deel: EOR, contractor management, Contractor of Record, global payroll and a US PEO. So you don't lose a product when you move. Its pricing page states there are no setup or onboarding fees, and no standard deposit, which matters if Deel's deposit refund is part of why you're leaving. It also locks one exchange rate per monthly payroll cycle, so the invoice you approve is the invoice you pay.
Who it's for. Startups and SMBs with a handful of people in countries where they have no entity, who like the Deel model and want a different provider behind it.
Who it's not for. Anyone who left Deel to avoid commitment. And anyone for whom $599 is already too much: Remote's EOR starts at the same number.
Its limit. The $599 entry price is for annual contracts. Ask for the monthly price in writing before you compare it with Deel's month-to-month rate.
How to move from Deel. Get a quote per country with the first payroll date. Then line up each employee's last day at Deel with the day before their first day at Remote, ideally at month end. Contractors just sign a new contract on Remote. If Remote is already your provider elsewhere, our Remote alternatives guide shows the same move from the other side.
Pricing. EOR from $599 on annual contracts; global payroll from $29; contractor management $29 (Plus at $99); Contractor of Record $325; US PEO $99.

Remofirst: the cheapest way out, country by country
From $199Why switch to Remofirst. Its EOR fee starts at $199 per employee per month, and it varies with local requirements. No setup fee, no termination fee, no annual contract. For a small team, that is the biggest saving on this page: at entry price, two employees cost $4,776 a year in fees instead of $14,376 at Deel's list price. It covers 185+ countries, and contractor management is free, with $25 per contractor per month to process payments.
Who it's for. Startups with one to five people abroad who left Deel over cost.
Who it's not for. Teams that need a broad platform with HR, IT and a large app marketplace around the EOR.
Its limit. $199 is a floor, not a promise: the price changes by country. Check the price for each of your countries, and ask in writing how terminations and the final invoice are handled before you sign.
How to move from Deel. Ask for a written quote for each country, then move one employee first. If payroll, payslips and support answers look right after a full cycle, move the rest.
Pricing. EOR from $199 per employee per month depending on the country; contractors free, Premium $25.

Skuad: for a mix of employees, agents and contractors
Mixed workforceWhy switch to Skuad. Skuad prices three models separately: EOR from $199 per employee per month, Agent of Record at $99, and contractor payments at $19, in 160+ countries. Be careful when you compare: the $19 plan covers paying contractors (invoices, payouts, expenses), while contract support sits in the $99 Agent of Record plan. If your team mixes full employees with freelancers, the bill drops on both lines.
Who it's for. Small and mid-size teams with many contractors and a few employees, in Asia and emerging markets as much as in Europe.
Who it's not for. A company that wants the widest country coverage or a deep HR and IT suite around payroll.
Its limit. Coverage stops at 160+ countries, against 185+ at Remofirst. Check your exact list of countries before the sales call.
How to move from Deel. Start with contractors, who only need a new agreement. Warn them that withdrawal options and fees change from one platform to the next, so nobody gets a surprise on their first payout.

Oyster: for teams that don't want to pay in dollars
Non-USD billingWhy switch to Oyster. Oyster bills in USD, EUR, GBP or CAD. If your company runs its books in euros or pounds, that removes a currency conversion from every invoice. Contractor management is free for 30 days, then $29 a month, cheaper than Deel's $49. EOR covers 120+ countries and contractors 180+.
Who it's for. European, UK and Canadian companies with a small distributed team, and anyone with many contractors and a few employees.
Who it's not for. Budget-first teams: at $699 a month, Oyster's EOR list price is above Deel's. Its annual discount exists, but the amount isn't published.
Its limit. Price. At $699 before any discount, two employees cost $16,776 a year in fees, against $14,376 at Deel's list price. The annual discount is the lever: get its amount in writing before you compare.
How to move from Deel. Move contractors first: it's quick and lets you see the support team at work. Then ask for the annual discount in writing before you transfer a single employee.

Rippling: for a US company that wants one system
US team plus a few abroadWhy switch to Rippling. Rippling starts from the other end: an HR, payroll and IT platform for your own employees, with EOR and global payroll added on. If most of your people are in the US and only a few are abroad, you get one employee record, one payroll calendar and one place to manage laptops and app access.
Who it's for. US startups and SMBs whose main headache is juggling HR, payroll and IT tools, not the foreign hires.
Who it's not for. A company that is mostly international, or one that only wants a cheap EOR. Rippling's value is the core platform; buying it just for EOR makes little sense.
Its limit. The base platform starts at $8 per employee per month plus a monthly base fee, but EOR and global payroll are on quote. You can't compare costs until you have the quote in hand.
How to move from Deel. Set up the US side first (HR, payroll, devices), then bring foreign hires over country by country once the EOR quote is signed. Deel connects to HR systems through its app store: export your employee data before you disconnect anything. Already weighing Rippling's own exit costs? See our Rippling alternatives guide.

G-P: for large companies hiring at scale
EnterpriseWhy switch to G-P. G-P (Globalization Partners) is one of the oldest EOR providers and sells to large companies first. Its EOR starts at $599 with volume discounts, in 180+ countries, and contractors can be engaged in 190+ countries from $39 a month. If you have dozens of people abroad, volume pricing is the lever Deel's public price list doesn't show.
Who it's for. Mid-size and large companies with many hires spread over many countries, and a procurement team that negotiates.
Who it's not for. A startup with two hires. You'll pay list price and you won't be its priority customer.
Its limit. The discount only exists if you have the volume. Below that, G-P costs the same as Deel without Deel's month-to-month flexibility.
How to move from Deel. Run it as a tender: send G-P and one other provider your list of countries and headcount, ask for a price per country and a transfer calendar, and negotiate the transfer as a project, not one hire at a time.

Deel and its 6 alternatives side by side
Our default pick: Remote for a like-for-like swap, Remofirst if cost is why you're leaving. The others fit a specific profile.
What two EOR employees cost over 12 months, in provider fees only: Deel at list price, 2 × $599 × 12 = $14,376; Remote on an annual contract, the same $14,376; Oyster before its annual discount, 2 × $699 × 12 = $16,776; Remofirst or Skuad at entry price, 2 × $199 × 12 = $4,776. Salaries, employer taxes, benefits and any deposit come on top.

Move your team off Deel in eight steps
Moving contractors is paperwork. Moving EOR employees is an employment change in every country, so order matters. Each step below protects one thing: a paycheck, a benefit, your deposit or your data.
The steps
Read your Deel order form first
Week 1Before you talk to anyone, find your signed order form. Deel's list terms are month-to-month, so on standard EOR terms you can cancel at any time, subject to local law for each employee. Two cases change that. If you also signed Deel's US PEO during the 2026 promotion, that PEO order form runs two years minimum, and leaving early means paying it in full at list price. If you negotiated an EOR discount, check whether it came with a minimum term.
That single document sets your earliest exit date. Everything else in the plan works back from it.
- Who
- founder or finance lead
- Risk if skipped
- paying for months you don't use
List every person, country by country
Week 1One row per person: country, contract type (EOR employee or contractor), salary, benefits, accrued leave, notice period, whether their work permit depends on the employer, and the severance they'd be owed today.
The work permit column is the one that bites. If a visa is tied to Deel as employer, the new provider must sponsor it before the person can move. Flag those people and handle them last.
- Time
- half a day
- Watch
- visas tied to the employer
Get a written quote per country
Weeks 1 to 2Send your list to two providers. Ask each one for the fee per country, the deposit, the first possible payroll date, and how they handle benefits that restart from zero.
Compare total cost, not the headline price. A provider at $199 in one country can be close to $599 in another.
- Ask for
- fee, deposit, first payroll
- Compare
- total cost per country
Budget the switch itself
Week 2Moving an EOR employee means ending one contract and starting another, so count the exit costs at Deel (notice, accrued leave, severance in each country), the new provider's deposit or reserve, and the overlap while two deposits are out. Build the figure from your own quotes, country by country: no vendor publishes a switching price.
Plan for one overlap month in your cash forecast, because the Deel deposit only comes back after the contract ends.
- Count
- severance, deposits, overlap
- Source
- your own quotes
Tell your people before anyone signs
Week 3Each EOR employee gets a termination with Deel and a new contract with the next provider. Their benefits can restart from scratch. Say this out loud, in writing, with the new contract terms attached, before you ask anyone to sign anything.
Get the new provider to confirm salary, start date, leave balance and whether seniority is recognized. People who learn it at the last minute are the ones who leave.
- Format
- written, per person
- Risk if rushed
- losing a team member
Request terminations through Deel
Weeks 3 to 6Request each end of contract through the Deel platform, respecting the dates each country forbids or requires. Some changes after the request can only be made by Deel support, so get the dates right the first time.
Line up the last day at Deel with the day before the first day at the new provider, ideally at month end. For the first month, run the new provider's payroll in parallel with your last Deel payroll and compare the payslips line by line: gross, taxes, benefits, net. Fix any gap before the old payroll stops. Then follow the deposit: it sits in an “awaiting refund” status until Deel returns it.

Export everything before you close the account
Before closingDownload contracts, payslips, payroll history and tax documents for every employee and contractor. You'll need them for audits, references and any dispute about a final payment.
Then reconnect your stack on the new side. If Deel was syncing with QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite, BambooHR, HiBob or Workday, set the same connections up on the new provider before you turn the Deel ones off. If you keep Deel for part of the team, you can automate it with Deel on Make.
- Export
- contracts, payslips, history
- Reconnect

Move contractors last, with a heads-up on fees
Any timeContractors only need a new agreement on the new platform. Tell them how they'll be paid and what each withdrawal method will cost on the new side, since fees differ from one platform to the next and from one payout method to another.
Keep Deel open until the last contractor invoice is paid and the last deposit is back.

What makes a Deel exit go wrong
Few of these problems are technical. They're dates, documents and conversations that happen too late, and each one costs more than the hour it would have taken to prevent it.
Misreading the order form
Deel's standard terms are month-to-month, but a US PEO order form signed under the 2026 promotion runs two years, and a negotiated discount may carry its own term. Check which one you signed before you announce anything to your team.
Running two EOR providers for too long
Splitting countries between two providers solves a speed problem at first. Over time it doubles the contracts, the invoices and the compliance checks. Pick one destination and finish the move.
Forgetting the visa holders
An employee whose work permit is tied to Deel can't simply be rehired elsewhere. The new provider must sponsor the permit first. Start those cases early and move them last.
Losing the gap between two payrolls
If the last day at Deel and the first day at the new provider don't touch, someone misses a pay period or a few days of health cover. Align the dates to the day.
Not budgeting severance and deposits
Termination costs are calculated per country, and the Deel deposit only comes back after the end of the contract. Meanwhile the new provider may ask for its own. Plan the cash for both.
Closing the account too early
Once the account is closed, payslips and contracts are harder to get. Keep it until every document is exported, every final payment is made and every refund has landed.
Deel alternatives: frequently asked questions
What is the best alternative to Deel?
For most small teams, Remote if you want the same kind of platform and can sign for a year, Remofirst if cost is the reason you're leaving. Larger companies should put G-P in the tender, and US-first teams should look at Rippling. Our employer of record ranking compares more providers.
Is there a cheaper alternative to Deel?
Yes. Remofirst and Skuad both start at $199 per employee per month for EOR, against $599 at Deel. The catch is that $199 is a starting price that varies by country, so get a quote for each of yours. On contractors, Remote charges $29 against $49 at Deel, Remofirst has a free tier, and Skuad's $19 plan covers contractor payments only.
Why do companies leave Deel?
Mostly for cost at small headcounts, slow support, and expensive EOR offboarding. Some contractors also report withdrawals held during account checks. That said, Deel stays well rated overall (4.0/5 in our EOR ranking), and its month-to-month terms are an advantage that Remote's annual price doesn't match.
Can I cancel Deel at any time?
On standard terms, yes: Deel's pricing is month-to-month with no long-term commitment, subject to local law for EOR employees. The exception is the 2026 US PEO promotion: new PEO order forms with a two-year minimum get three months of platform fees credited at the end of the term, and early termination means paying the full order at list price. For EOR, reread your own order form if you negotiated a discount.
Do employees have to sign a new contract when you change EOR?
Yes. Switching EOR means ending the employment with the old provider and rehiring under the new one. Benefits can restart from zero and work permits may need a new sponsor. Get salary, leave balance and start date confirmed in writing first.
How long does it take to switch EOR providers?
It depends on notice periods, visa transfers and payroll cut-off dates in each country. A team in one or two countries can usually move within a couple of payroll cycles; plan longer if you go country by country, and keep one payroll cycle in parallel at the start.
Should I use a PEO instead of an EOR?
Only for US employees. A PEO co-employs people in the US for a company that already has a US entity; an EOR employs people abroad on your behalf. Deel's US PEO is $125 per employee per month and Remote's is $99. Compare the options in our PEO ranking, or the PEO picks for startups.
When should I leave EOR for my own entity?
When you have a large team in one country. Advisors often cite a threshold around 50 employees, but the right number depends on local setup costs. Once you have the entity, you can keep a global payroll provider (Remote's starts at $29 per employee) and drop the EOR fee. Our payroll software ranking covers the next step.
