Overview

What the EleAPIs Zapier integration does for a support team

Connecting EleAPIs to Zapier lets your AI chatbot for websites and messaging talk to everything else you run. A new contact or a new incoming message can start an automation on its own, and a Zap can create contacts, update their attributes or send WhatsApp messages through EleAPIs.

Three results that pay off quickly. A welcome that never waits: New Contact Created fires the moment a lead appears, and Send Template Message greets them on WhatsApp with one of your templates. Leads from your other tools: Add a Contact pushes a phone number captured by another tool into EleAPIs. Conversations that leave a trace: New Incoming Message plus Update Contact Attributes lets you stamp a custom attribute on the contact who just wrote.

What Zapier does not do with EleAPIs: there is no search, so a Zap cannot look a contact up before acting, and nothing deletes a contact. The two send actions and the update find the person themselves, from an email, a WhatsApp number or a UUID.

The good news on timing: both triggers are instant, so EleAPIs tells Zapier as soon as something happens, even on the free plan.

If you are weighing other platforms, the EleAPIs Make integration covers the same app on Make.

Vocabulary

Zapier vocabulary in one minute

Seven words come back on this page. Here they are once, in plain English.

Zap
The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time the trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts the Zap. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it, like a new incoming message in EleAPIs.
Action
What the Zap does after it starts: the step that writes, sends or moves something for you, such as a WhatsApp message.
Task
The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. Your plan's allowance counts those and nothing else.
Instant vs polling
An instant trigger is reported by the app the moment it happens. A polling trigger is checked by Zapier on a timer. Both EleAPIs triggers are instant.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap carry on only when what arrived meets the condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
Multi-step Zap
Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A second action or a filter makes it one, and it then needs a paid plan.
Cost

What an EleAPIs Zap really costs

Short version: hearing from EleAPIs is free, every message or update you send is a task.

  • Free plan100 tasks a month, unlimited Zaps
  • Free plan Zap sizeOne trigger and one action
  • EleAPIs triggers2, both instant
  • Premium appNo

The trigger never costs a task, whatever the volume of conversations. Each action that succeeds counts once: a Zap that sends a template and then updates the contact uses two tasks per run. A failed action is not billed. EleAPIs is not a premium app, so the free plan takes it, with 100 tasks a month, unlimited Zaps and a two-step ceiling. A filter or a second action makes the Zap multi-step, which needs a paid plan. The interval grid below is for polling triggers; both EleAPIs triggers are instant and skip it.

Connect

Connect your EleAPIs account to Zapier

  1. 01

    Open the Apps page

In Zapier, go to Apps and click + Add connection. A connection is your EleAPIs account linked once, then reused by every Zap that sends or reads through it.

  2. 02

    Pick EleAPIs

Search for EleAPIs in the dialog, select it and click Add connection. You need an EleAPIs account already set up; Zapier does not create one along the way.

  3. 03

    Sign in and grant access

Log in to EleAPIs in the tab that opens and allow Zapier into the account. If the bots you want to use belong to a teammate, make sure your login can reach them before you build anything.

First Zap

Your first Zap: flag the customers who write in

GoalUpdate a custom attribute on the EleAPIs contact when an incoming message meets the condition you set.

  1. 01

    Build: pick the trigger

Create a Zap, choose EleAPIs as the app and New Incoming Message as the event, then select the EleAPIs connection you just added.

  2. 02

    Test the trigger

Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent incoming messages, so you build the next steps on a real conversation, not an empty template.

  3. 03

    Add the filter

Click the plus icon, add Filter, then choose the field, the rule and the value. Use a text rule for message text; a number rule on text never passes.

  4. 04

    Add Update Contact Attributes

Pick the action, then fill Search with the sender's email, WhatsApp number or UUID, and set the Attribute Key and the Value you want to stamp on the contact.

  5. 05

    Test, then Publish

Test each step once and read what comes back. Then click Publish to switch it on. Because of the filter, this Zap is multi-step and needs a paid plan.

Triggers

The two EleAPIs triggers

2 events start a Zap when something happens in EleAPIs, and 2 of them are instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.

1

New Contact Created

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new contact or lead is created in EleAPIs.”

Starts your Zap each time a new contact or lead is created in EleAPIs, as soon as the record exists. It is the entry point for anything that should happen to a person once, at the start.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
sending a WhatsApp welcome template, or handing the new lead to the sales rep who covers that market.
Watch out
a Zap on this trigger that runs Add a Contact will set itself off again with every contact it creates.
2

New Incoming Message

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when there is a new incoming message.”

Fires on every message a contact sends in. It is the busiest trigger of the two, since each line of a conversation counts, which makes a filter almost mandatory if the next step costs a task.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
marking a contact who asks for a human, or copying messages into the inbox your support lead watches.
Watch out
a customer who sends five short lines starts the Zap five times, and each run bills its actions.
Actions

The four EleAPIs actions

EleAPIs gives you 4 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Send Session Message

Action

In Zapier“Sends a session message.”

Sends a free-text message to a contact you identify by email, WhatsApp number or UUID.

When to use it
following up on a conversation that is already open, for example to confirm a booking the customer just asked about.
Watch out
a WhatsApp number must include the country code and contain digits only, so strip spaces and dashes before mapping it.
2

Send Template Message

Action

In Zapier“Send Template-Based WhatsApp Messages”

Sends one of your WhatsApp templates from the bot you choose, to the number you give it.

When to use it
a welcome, a reminder or a shipping notice that should look the same for every customer.
Watch out
the bot and the template must already exist in EleAPIs, and the number goes with its country code but without the plus sign.
3

Update Contact Attributes

Action

In Zapier“Updates user-specific custom attributes of a contact.”

Changes one custom attribute on an existing contact: you name the attribute key and the value to write.

When to use it
recording a lead score, a plan or a last-order date that another tool knows and the bot should use.
Watch out
the contact is found from an email, a WhatsApp number or a UUID; if none of them matches, there is nothing to update.
4

Add a Contact

Action

In Zapier“Adds a contact to your EleAPIs account.”

Creates a contact in your EleAPIs account from a name and a phone number, so the bot knows the person before they ever write.

When to use it
moving leads from a web form or an event list into EleAPIs.
Watch out
the country code goes in its own field with the plus sign, like +91, and the phone number goes in another.
When it breaks

When an EleAPIs Zap breaks

Zapier attaches no help article to EleAPIs, so these are Zapier's general rules applied to this app.

Each one is easy to fix once you have seen it. For anything stranger, the Zapier troubleshooting page is the next step.

  • New contacts that create new contacts

A Zap on New Contact Created that runs Add a Contact in the same account sets itself off again and again, and burns through your tasks fast.
  • Old conversations never arrive

A Zap only reacts to contacts and messages created after you publish it. What already sits in EleAPIs stays there; moving it is a separate job.
  • A bulk import is held back

If EleAPIs suddenly reports a huge batch of contacts, after an import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold it.

FAQ

EleAPIs Zapier integration: common questions

01Is the EleAPIs Zapier integration free?
Yes. EleAPIs is not a premium app, so it runs on the free Zapier plan, which gives you 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps. The catch is size: on the free plan a Zap holds one trigger and one action, nothing more. A filter on incoming messages, or a second action such as updating the contact after a template, turns it into a multi-step Zap that needs a paid plan. A plain welcome-template Zap fits in the free plan.
02How many tasks does an EleAPIs Zap use?
One per action that succeeds, and none for the trigger. A Zap that sends a template uses one task per new contact; one that sends a template and then updates an attribute uses two. Watch New Incoming Message: every message a contact sends starts the Zap, so a chatty customer can cost several runs in one conversation. A filter that stops irrelevant messages early saves tasks, and failed actions are not billed.
03Does EleAPIs send data to Zapier in real time?
Yes. Both EleAPIs triggers, New Contact Created and New Incoming Message, are instant: EleAPIs calls Zapier as soon as the event happens and the Zap starts right away. The plan interval grid, from 15 minutes on Free down to 1 minute on Team and Enterprise, only applies to polling triggers, so it does not slow EleAPIs down, even on the free plan. In the editor, an instant Zap shows a lightning bolt.
04What does it take to connect EleAPIs to Zapier?
An existing EleAPIs account and a Zapier account. Open the Apps page in Zapier, click + Add connection, choose EleAPIs, sign in in the tab that opens and grant access. For Send Template Message, the WhatsApp bot and the template you want must already exist in EleAPIs, because the action only lets you pick them. The connection is made once and reused by every EleAPIs step afterwards, so a second Zap on the same account starts straight at the trigger.
05Why does Send Template Message reject the phone number?
Usually because of the format. The WhatsApp number must carry the country code and no plus sign, written in digits only, like the example in the field description. Add a Contact works the other way: the country code sits in its own field with the plus, such as +91. If your numbers come from one source, clean them once in a step before EleAPIs rather than in every Zap. A failed attempt costs no task.
06What if the EleAPIs action you need is not on Zapier?
Then the Zap cannot do it directly. EleAPIs offers four actions on Zapier: Add a Contact, Send Session Message, Send Template Message and Update Contact Attributes. There is no search, no way to delete a contact and nothing to edit a bot. If the missing piece is a lookup, the send and update actions already find the contact from an email, a WhatsApp number or a UUID, which covers many cases on its own.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for EleAPIs?
Decide on criteria rather than a ranking. If you want instant reactions to new contacts and messages with the shortest setup, Zapier handles that from the free plan. If busy conversations will trigger many runs, compare how each platform counts them on the plan you would pay for. If you need to host the tool on your own servers, that rules Zapier out. Whatever you choose, check that the EleAPIs operations you need are offered there.
