ngram Zapier integrationAutomate ngram with Zapier.

The ngram Zapier integration gives you 2 triggers, 4 actions and 1 search. Both triggers are instant, so a finished or failed video starts your Zap right away, and the actions let other tools order new videos and images from ngram for you.

Overview

What the ngram Zapier integration actually does

ngram is an AI video studio that builds narrated product videos and marketing images from a prompt or a web page. Zapier links it to your other tools with a Zap: an automation that starts on one event and then runs one or more steps for you. Here, that means ordering videos from elsewhere, and reacting when a video is ready or has failed.

A video library that fills itself. New Video Ready fires each time a render finishes. The official description says it carries the download link of the MP4, its duration and timestamps, so a spreadsheet row per finished video is a two-step Zap.

Videos ordered from a written brief. Create Video From Text takes a single required prompt and lets ngram write the script, the scenes and the voiceover. Put it behind a form or a project tool and a short text becomes a render request without anyone opening ngram.

A failure you hear about. New Video Failed fires when a video job fails, with the error code and message. Routed to email or chat, it turns a broken render into a message someone can act on.

What Zapier does not do here. None of the seven operations deletes, edits or lists videos, and no trigger reacts to a new image. A Zap also starts from scratch: videos finished before you switch it on are never picked up. If you are weighing other tools, see our Make vs Zapier comparison or our n8n vs Zapier comparison.

Vocabulary

Zapier vocabulary, in one minute

Eight words come back on every line of this page. Here they are in plain English.

Zap
The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time the trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts the Zap. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it and nothing runs before it.
Action
What the Zap does after it starts: the step that writes, sends or creates something for you in an app.
Task
The unit Zapier bills. One task is one action that completes successfully; your plan counts those and nothing else.
Polling vs instant
A polling trigger is checked by Zapier on a timer. An instant trigger is reported by the app itself the moment the event happens.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap carry on only when what arrived matches the condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
Search step
A step that looks up something that already exists in an app, so the steps after it can reuse what it found.
Multi-step Zap
Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A second action, a filter or a search makes one, and it needs a paid plan.
Cost

What ngram costs you in Zapier tasks

ngram is not a premium app, so it works from the free plan. The bill is counted in tasks, and only completed actions count.

  • Triggernever costs a task
  • Successful action1 task each
  • Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps
  • Premium appno

The trigger never costs a task. Each ngram action that goes through costs one, and an action that fails is not counted. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, but each Zap stops at two steps. Add a filter, a second action or Get Video Status, and the Zap becomes multi-step, which needs a paid plan. The polling grid below is the standard Zapier one; it does not apply to ngram, because both of its triggers are instant.

Connect

Connect your ngram account to Zapier

  1. 01

    Open the Apps page

In your Zapier account, open Apps and click + Add connection. A connection is your ngram account linked once, then reused by every step that calls ngram.

  2. 02

    Pick ngram and sign in

Search for ngram by name in the dialog, pick it, then click Add connection. A new tab opens on ngram: sign in with the account the Zap should work with.

  3. 03

    Grant access

Allow Zapier to use that ngram account in the last screen. You need an ngram account, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch.

First Zap

Your first ngram Zap, step by step

GoalLog every finished ngram video in a spreadsheet, then post its link to your team chat.

  1. 01

    Create the Zap

Start a new Zap and pick ngram as the app that starts it. Choose New Video Ready as the event, then select your ngram connection.

  2. 02

    Test the trigger

Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent items of the connected account, so you map fields from a real video and not a guess.

  3. 03

    Add the spreadsheet row

Add your spreadsheet as the first action and map the video link and the other values the test showed into the columns you want.

  4. 04

    Add the chat message

Add a second action that posts to your team chat. This makes the Zap multi-step, so it needs a paid plan; drop it and the Zap fits the free plan.

  5. 05

    Test, then publish

Test each action once and read what came back. When both look right, publish the Zap to switch it on. If you want a guided pass, see our Zapier training.

Triggers

ngram triggers

2 events start a Zap when something happens in ngram, and 2 of them are instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.

1

New Video Failed

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when an Ngram video job fails, with the error code and message — pair with Slack, email, or SMS to catch failures without polling.”

This trigger starts a Zap each time an ngram video job fails. According to the official description, it hands over the error code and the error message, which you can drop into an alert so nobody has to go and look.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
when renders are ordered by other Zaps and a failure would otherwise go unseen until someone asks where the video is.
Watch out
it only covers jobs that fail after the Zap is published; failures from before are never picked up.
2

New Video Ready

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when an Ngram video finishes rendering. The payload carries the finished video's downloadable MP4 URL, duration, and timestamps — pair with Slack, Gmail, YouTube, or a spreadsheet to deliver or log every finished video.”

Use this one to react to a render that has finished. The official description says it carries the downloadable MP4 link, the duration and timestamps of the video, which is enough to log it, share it or send it on.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
as the start of any Zap that delivers or files finished videos, including videos ordered by another Zap.
Watch out
check the exact fields in the trigger test before mapping them; the description names them, the test shows what really arrives.
Actions

ngram actions

ngram gives you 4 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Create Image

Action

In Zapier“Generate a new image from a text prompt, or edit an existing one, with Ngram's AI image studio — brand-styled marketing visuals, thumbnails, and social graphics. Returns the finished image's URL.”

Generates a new image from a text prompt, or edits an existing one, with the ngram image studio. It returns the URL of the finished image, ready for the next step.

When to use it
for thumbnails, social graphics or marketing visuals produced each time a record appears in another tool.
Watch out
Prompt is required, and it describes either the image to make or the edit to apply.
2

Create Video

Action

In Zapier“Create a polished Ngram video — scripted scenes, AI voiceover, and motion graphics; no avatar or recording needed — from a text prompt, optionally grounded in a website URL and reference images. Runs asynchronously (typically a few minutes) and returns the finished video's MP4 URL.”

The general video order: you describe the product or topic, the audience and the goal, and ngram builds scenes, voiceover and motion graphics, with no avatar or recording. A website URL and reference images can ground it.

When to use it
when you have both a brief and a page or images that should shape the video.
Watch out
the official description says the render runs asynchronously; check in the test what this step really returns before a later step relies on the video file.
3

Create Video From Text

Action

In Zapier“Create an Ngram video from a text brief alone — describe the product, topic, or announcement and Ngram writes the script and builds the scenes, voiceover, and motion graphics. Asynchronous; returns the finished video's MP4 URL. Use Create Video From URL instead when a webpage should be the source.”

Starts a video from a text brief alone. Prompt is the only required field; ngram writes the script and the scenes from it and returns the MP4 link once the render is done.

When to use it
when the source is an announcement or a short brief typed in another tool, with no page behind it.
Watch out
when a web page should be the source, the official description points to Create Video From URL instead.
4

Create Video From URL

Action

In Zapier“Turn any public webpage — a product page, blog post, docs page, or landing page — into a polished narrated video: Ngram reads the URL and builds the script, scenes, AI voiceover, and motion graphics. The URL is the only required input; add a prompt to steer angle or audience. Asynchronous; returns the finished video's MP4 URL.”

Turns a public web page into a narrated video: ngram reads the page and writes the script itself. Website URL is the only required input, and an optional prompt steers the angle or the audience.

When to use it
when a new product page or blog post should get its own video without anyone writing a brief.
Watch out
the field asks for a public page, so check in the test which address the earlier step really sends.
Searches

ngram search

1 search step looks for data that already exists in ngram, so a later step can use it.

A search step does not create anything: it looks up a video job that already exists. In the editor, searches sit at the bottom of the Action event list, under the SEARCH heading. Three settings decide what happens next.

1

Get Video Status

Search

In Zapier“Look up an Ngram video job by its Video ID — returns status (pending, processing, completed, or failed), progress, and the finished video's MP4 URL once complete. Use after a Create Video action to check on or retrieve a video.”

Looks up an ngram video job by its Video ID and returns its status (pending, processing, completed or failed), its progress, and the MP4 link once the video is complete.

When to use it
after a Create Video step, to check on the job or fetch the finished file.
Watch out
Video ID is required; confirm in the test which earlier step actually carries one before you map it.

The three settings every search exposes

  1. Successful if no search results are found?
Left on its default, a search that finds nothing stops the Zap and the steps that depend on it are skipped. Switched on, the Zap carries on empty-handed.
  2. Create X if it doesn't exist yet?
This box turns a search into a find-or-create. ngram exposes no find-or-create variant, so Get Video Status stays a plain search.
  3. If multiple search results are found?
Three ways out when several items match: keep the first one, which is the default, stop the Zap, or pass all of them on.
When it breaks

When an ngram Zap breaks

Zapier links no help article to ngram, so the cases below are the general Zapier limits that apply to it.

Each case has a plain cause and a plain fix. When a Zap still misbehaves, open our Zapier troubleshooting guide.

  • Old videos never show up

A Zap only reacts to what happens after it is switched on. Videos finished or failed before that are not picked up; moving that backlog is a separate job.
  • The Zap keeps restarting itself

As a general precaution, a Zap that writes into the place its own trigger watches can set itself off again and again, and burn through your tasks.
  • A big batch is held back

When a trigger suddenly returns a huge batch, after a bulk import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold those runs back.
  • The Zap stops at the search

If Get Video Status finds nothing and the setting is on its default, the Zap stops there and the steps after it are skipped.

FAQ

ngram Zapier integration: frequent questions

01Is the ngram Zapier integration free?
Yes, as long as each Zap stays at two steps. ngram is not a premium app, so it is available on the free plan, which gives 100 tasks a month and an unlimited number of Zaps. The catch is the two-step limit: one trigger and one action. Get Video Status is a search, and a search makes the Zap multi-step, so any Zap that uses it needs a paid plan. The same goes for a filter or a second action.
02How many tasks does an ngram Zap use?
One task per action that completes, and nothing else. The trigger never costs a task, whether a video is ready or has failed. A Zap that orders a video with Create Video From URL and then posts a message uses two tasks per run, because both actions count on their own. An action that does not go through is not counted against your plan. Before switching on a Zap fed by a busy source, multiply your expected runs by the number of actions to see where your monthly total lands.
03Do ngram triggers fire in real time?
Yes. Both New Video Ready and New Video Failed are instant triggers: ngram tells Zapier the moment the event happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan. The interval grid of the plans, from 15 minutes on Free to 1 minute on Team and Enterprise, only concerns polling triggers, and ngram has none. In the editor, a Zap built on an instant trigger shows a lightning bolt, which is a quick way to confirm it before you publish.
04What does it take to connect ngram to Zapier?
An ngram account, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch. The connection goes through the Apps page of your Zapier account: click + Add connection, pick ngram, click Add connection, sign in to ngram in the tab that opens and grant access. Once that is done, every Zap step that uses ngram reuses the same connection, so the account is linked once and then shared by all of your ngram Zaps.
05Why does Get Video Status stop the Zap?
When it stops at that step, the search found nothing and the setting Successful if no search results are found? is still on its default. In that case the Zap stops at the search and every step that relied on it is skipped. Two checks help. First, make sure the Video ID you map comes from a step that really carries one, which the test shows. Second, switch the setting on if the Zap should go on even when no job matches.
06What if the ngram operation you want is not there?
Then the Zapier integration cannot do it today. The ngram page on Zapier shows the current list of triggers, actions and searches, and that is the one to check before you plan a Zap around a step. Here that list is two instant triggers, four actions that create videos or images, and one search on video status. Check it again before each new Zap, since that page is the reference.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for ngram?
It depends on your criteria, not on a ranking. If you want the shortest path and your Zaps stay at two steps, Zapier with ngram works on the free plan, and both triggers fire at once whatever the plan, so the polling interval does not apply. If your scenarios chain a render, a status search and several deliveries, the multi-step pricing matters more, and that is the point to compare. Check whether the ngram operations you rely on exist on the other platform before you move anything.
