What is the best delivery notification software in 2026?
Nine shipment tracking tools compared on what your customer actually sees: the right message, on the right channel, at the right time, and what each message costs you.
The short answer: on Shopify, ParcelPanel emails customers at every milestone from $11 a month and routes them through Klaviyo on its $59 plan. If your brand already lives in Klaviyo, Attentive or Postscript, Malomo turns delivery updates into on-brand marketing, from $49 for 1,000 shipments. For SMS without a premium plan, AfterShip includes it at $11. For WhatsApp, Sendcloud has it on Lite. On WooCommerce, pair TrackShip with the free AST plugin.
Before you pay for anything, know that Shopify already sends four tracking emails for free. Below: when those are enough, what each channel costs, and why promos don't belong in a delivered email.
Some links may be affiliate links. The ranking is editorial: a sponsored placement is always labeled on its card, and no affiliate link changes a score.

How we compared and scored
This page answers one question: which tool keeps your customer informed at every stage of delivery, on which channel, and at what cost? For each tool we read the official pricing page or Shopify App Store listing, then mapped plan by plan what triggers a message (shipped, out for delivery, delivered, exception), which channels it uses (email, SMS, WhatsApp, Klaviyo or Attentive flows), and what each extra message costs. We also read the one-star reviews, where merchants describe duplicate emails, false exceptions and messages stuck in spam.
A tool without public pricing doesn't make the ranking: parcelLab and Narvar sell to enterprise accounts on quote, Outvio doesn't publish its rates, and Route, free for merchants through customer-paid package protection, doesn't detail its notifications. ShippyPro stays on our package tracking page because its pricing page contradicts itself on WhatsApp volume. Scores follow the grid of our review pages, five equally weighted criteria, and a tool keeps the same score on every page. Rank follows this page's question; at equal scores, the tool that does more for customer updates comes first.

ParcelPanel
ParcelPanel, which its developer CWILL is gradually rebranding as CWILL Order Tracking, sends shipping notifications from the Essential plan: $11 a month for 200 orders. No other tool on this list gets an email out at every stage for less. Its Shopify App Store listing shows a 5.0 rating across 3,211 reviews.
The plan that matters for notifications is Professional, at $59 for 2,000 orders. It adds the Klaviyo integration, so your out-for-delivery and delivered emails go out through your own flows and templates. It also unlocks the API, webhooks, automatic translation of the tracking page, and removal of the CWILL branding. Run the math before you stay on Essential: at $0.05 per extra order, Professional becomes the cheaper plan past 1,160 orders a month.
The one-star reviews show the downside. One merchant had fake "delivery exception" emails sent to every customer. Another found the emails landing in spam. Several were surprised that automatic translation means upgrading, and that adding tracking to an existing order can carry a fee.
- Shipping notifications from Essential at $11
- Klaviyo, API and webhooks on Professional
- Auto-translated tracking page on Professional
- Removes CWILL branding on Professional
- ✓Cheapest way to email every milestone up to 2,000 orders
- ✓5.0 across 3,200+ Shopify reviews
- ✓Easy break-even point between plans
- ✗Klaviyo and translation locked to the $59 plan
- ✗A merchant reported false exception emails
- ✗Billed in USD every 30 days
The default pick for a Shopify store that wants customers informed without a big budget. Move to Professional the day you want Klaviyo sending your delivery messages.
Malomo
Malomo, based in Indianapolis, starts from a simple bet: "your order arrives tomorrow" is the most opened message your brand sends, so treat it like a campaign. You get a branded tracking page plus ready-made flow templates for Klaviyo, Attentive, Postscript and Yotpo. Your shipping emails and texts stay inside the tools you already use for marketing.
Unusually for this tier, the pricing is public. Lite is $49 a month for 1,000 shipments, then $0.06 each. Starter is $189 for 4,000, then $0.05. Growth starts at $400 a month. If you'd rather have Malomo send your transactional emails itself, it charges $0.0045 per message: four emails per order on 1,000 orders adds $18. Contracts are month-to-month and you can cancel anytime.
The catch: no free plan and no trial on the pricing page. The Shopify listing has only 6 reviews (all five stars), too few to judge support. And it only makes sense if you already run a real email or SMS marketing platform.
- Flow templates for Klaviyo, Attentive, Postscript and Yotpo
- Email and SMS shipping updates from your marketing stack
- Public pricing, no annual lock-in
- Malomo-sent emails at $0.0045 each
- ✓Deepest SMS marketing integrations on the list
- ✓1,000 shipments for $49
- ✓Cancel anytime
- ✗No free plan or advertised trial
- ✗Only 6 Shopify App Store reviews
- ✗Overkill without a marketing platform
The right call for a brand already sending campaigns through Klaviyo or Attentive. A small store without one gets the job done for less with ParcelPanel or 17TRACK.
17TRACK
17TRACK also runs a consumer tracking site, and its Shopify app holds a 4.9 rating across more than 4,500 reviews. For notifications, what matters is how the plans step up. The free plan covers 50 shipments a month. Tracking emails start on Basic, $9 for 200 shipments. Pro, $49 for 1,000, adds multilingual emails and removes the 17TRACK branding.
Premium, $159 for 2,000 shipments, is the only plan where you customize email triggers, meaning you pick which statuses send a message. If you sell into several countries, Pro is usually enough, since multilingual emails save you from writing every template by hand in each language.
There's no SMS in its pricing table, so 17TRACK stays an email tool. One-star reviews mention duplicate shipping emails, a sync limited to the last 180 days, and a quota that ran out faster than expected. Watch the counter in your first month.
- Tracking emails from Basic at $9
- Multilingual emails and no branding on Pro
- Custom email triggers on Premium
- Free plan with 50 shipments
- ✓Free up to 50 shipments a month
- ✓Cheapest multilingual emails
- ✓4.9 across 4,500+ reviews
- ✗No SMS listed
- ✗Custom triggers only on the $159 plan
- ✗Duplicate emails reported
The best free on-ramp, and the simplest way to notify customers in several languages. Look elsewhere if you need SMS.
AfterShip
AfterShip is one of the most cited names in shipment tracking, with a 4.6 rating across 1,515 Shopify reviews. Its edge for notifications is clear: Essentials, at $11 a month, already sends both emails and text messages. Nothing else here puts SMS at that price on the App Store.
The trap is the quota. Essentials covers only 100 shipments, then $0.08 each. At 1,000 shipments a month, you're paying $83. Premium, $70 for 500 shipments and $0.12 after, is the plan that opens the API and webhooks. Merchants also complain that the Klaviyo integration sits on a higher plan, and one couldn't connect Omnisend on the entry plan.
Other recurring one-star themes: overage billing that keeps running, and the custom domain for the tracking page moving to Enterprise. One merchant says they "Never could get SMS to work." Send yourself a test text for every status before you switch it on for customers.
- Email and SMS from Essentials at $11
- API and webhooks on Premium
- Free import of your first 500 shipments
- $1 first month on Essentials and Premium
- ✓Lowest entry price for SMS on Shopify
- ✓Widely integrated
- ✓Free plan with 50 shipments
- ✗100-shipment quota, then $0.08 each
- ✗Klaviyo and webhooks on pricier plans
- ✗Overage billing complaints
The easiest way to try SMS tracking under about 300 shipments a month. Past that, per-shipment pricing makes it costlier than ParcelPanel or Malomo.
Sendcloud
Sendcloud is shipping software first: it prints your labels and notifies the customer right after. Its Lite plan already sends email, SMS and WhatsApp notifications in two languages. It's the only tool here with WhatsApp on its first paid plan, which matters if you ship to customers in Europe.
What Lite doesn't include is a branded tracking page. You need Growth for a custom page with your promotions, and for messages in eight languages. On cost, keep two lines in mind: the monthly plan and the per-label fee, €0.12 down to €0.08 depending on the plan. Before you turn WhatsApp on for every status, check in your account what each message will cost you.
Its weak spot is support, the lowest score in our Sendcloud review. And paying for Sendcloud just for notifications makes little sense: the point is labels and messages in one place. If you print elsewhere, a tracking app costs less.
- Email, SMS and WhatsApp from Lite
- Branded tracking page with promotions on Growth
- Eight languages on Growth
- Labels and notifications in one tool
- ✓Only tool with WhatsApp on its first paid plan
- ✓Labels and messages in one place
- ✓14-day trial, no card
- ✗No branded tracking page on Lite
- ✗Per-label fee on top of the plan
- ✗Support rated 2.7 out of 5
A strong pick if you already print with it or your customers live on WhatsApp. On its own, the notification layer doesn't justify the subscription.
WeSupply
WeSupply covers the whole post-purchase stretch: tracking, notifications and returns. Its pricing page lists "50+ Email Status Notification Types" and SMS notifications, so you decide exactly which event triggers a message, from a delay to the final delivery, without bolting on another tool.
It's the most generous on volume in the upper tier. Growth is $50 a month for 2,000 shipments and 100 returns, then $0.05 per shipment and $0.50 per return. At 1,000 shipments you stay at $50; at 4,000 you pay $150. Advanced, at $168, raises the unit prices ($0.07 and $0.65) in exchange for more features, and Enterprise moves to a quote past 15,000 shipments.
The limit: its value hinges on the returns portal, which you won't use much if returns are rare. Read the returns line carefully, since every return past 100 a month costs $0.50 on Growth.
- 50+ email status notification types
- SMS notifications
- Returns portal on the same plan
- 14-day free trial
- ✓2,000 shipments for $50
- ✓Tracking and returns without two subscriptions
- ✓Fine control over which statuses send messages
- ✗Returns billed at $0.50 past 100
- ✗Too broad for tracking alone
- ✗No free plan
The right fit for a store with lots of returns that wants one post-purchase tool. For tracking alone, it's more than you need.
Shipup
Shipup is a French company based in Boulogne-Billancourt. Its Shopify listing promises to "Configure 60+ proactive notifications" by email and SMS, plus real-time alerts for your team. When a parcel stalls or runs late, the customer hears from you before they wonder, and your agents see the alert in Zendesk or Gorgias.
On the App Store it costs $75 a month with a 14-day trial; larger accounts go through a quote. The app is available in English and French, which works for a brand selling in both markets and less so for one selling across Germany or Spain.
The limit: only 9 reviews on the Shopify listing (4.9 out of 5), and a higher entry price than ParcelPanel or 17TRACK for a store without a structured support team.
- 60+ proactive notifications
- Email and SMS
- Alerts in Zendesk and Gorgias
- App in English and French
- ✓Built around exceptions, not just tracking
- ✓Plugs into helpdesk tools
- ✓Strong fit for EU brands
- ✗$75 a month from day one
- ✗Two languages only
- ✗Few public reviews
A good match for a brand with a support team that wants fewer "where is my order?" tickets. Too pricey for a store just getting started.
TrackShip
On WooCommerce, the usual pairing is the free Advanced Shipment Tracking (AST) plugin plus TrackShip for notifications. AST is free and open source with "No monthly fees", 70,000+ active installs and 1,010+ carriers. It adds the tracking number to the order email when you mark an order Shipped or Completed.
What AST can't do on its own is tell your customer the parcel was delivered. That's TrackShip's job: it tracks the shipment and sends emails and texts at each stage, with admin alerts and delivery confirmation. The first tier is $7.50 a month or $90 a year for 50 shipments a month, and above 20,000 shipments a month you move to Enterprise, priced on quote. The 15-day trial covers 100 shipments with no card.
The catch: pricing steps up by volume tier, so check yours on the pricing page first, and you have two plugins to keep updated together.
- Notifications at every stage, delivery included
- Email and SMS
- Admin alerts and delivery confirmation
- Pairs with the free AST plugin
- ✓From $7.50 a month
- ✓Trial without a credit card
- ✓AST itself costs nothing
- ✗Two plugins to maintain
- ✗Volume-tier pricing
- ✗Fewer marketing integrations than Shopify apps
The simple answer on WooCommerce: AST for the tracking number, TrackShip for the delivered message.
TrackingMore
TrackingMore offers customizable tracking emails from Basic, $9 for 200 orders. Pro, $55 for 2,000 orders, adds Klaviyo, Gorgias and Slack. That's the only way on this list to get Klaviyo for less than ParcelPanel Professional's $59.
At 1,000 orders a month, Basic works out to $49 ($9 plus 800 orders at $0.05), so Pro at $55 is worth the extra $6 if you want Klaviyo. The Shopify listing shows 4.4 across 376 reviews.
Two limits. There's no SMS in its pricing table. And two recent reviews mention USPS or DHL syncs taking up to 48 hours: a customer updated two days late is one more ticket for your team.
- Customizable emails from Basic
- Klaviyo, Gorgias and Slack on Pro
- $0.05 per extra order
- Free plan with 50 shipments
- ✓Klaviyo for $55 a month
- ✓Very cheap Basic plan
- ✓Predictable per-order billing
- ✗No SMS listed
- ✗Delayed carrier syncs reported
- ✗Lower Shopify rating than its peers
The cheapest way to send delivery updates from Klaviyo. Not your tool if you need SMS.
Email, SMS, WhatsApp: which message goes where
Carrier count matters less than the message you want to send. Here's what each channel brings, what it costs, and what Shopify already does without an app.
What Shopify sends for free
Shopify ships four tracking email templates: Shipping confirmation ("Sent when an order is fulfilled"), Shipping update ("Sent when tracking information is updated"), Out for delivery and Delivered. The last two only fire when the carrier or your fulfillment app reports the event, and they don't work for local delivery. None of them go out by text: Shopify only texts the order confirmation, to a customer with no email address. Turn them on under Settings, then Notifications, before you buy anything.
Email: the baseline
Every tool here sends email. The differences are design, languages and triggers. 17TRACK translates from Pro, Sendcloud goes to eight languages on Growth, and Malomo charges $0.0045 per email it sends for you. The real risk is deliverability: a tracking email in spam informs nobody.
SMS: read in seconds, billed separately
Text messages earn their keep on two moments: out for delivery and exceptions. AfterShip includes SMS from Essentials, Sendcloud from Lite, and WeSupply, Shipup and TrackShip offer it too. 17TRACK and TrackingMore don't list it. The message itself is what costs money, so check the per-text price in your account before you enable each status, and make the phone field required at checkout or nothing goes out.
WhatsApp: for European customers
Sendcloud is the only tool here with WhatsApp on its first paid plan. Outvio, popular with Spanish merchants, also advertises branded WhatsApp notifications but doesn't publish prices. WhatsApp carries a per-message cost on top of the plan, so save it for statuses that matter, not every carrier scan.
Klaviyo, Attentive, Postscript
Without a tracking app, Klaviyo only sees the Fulfilled Order event, never the delivery. To build a delivered flow in Klaviyo you need a tool that pushes the event: ParcelPanel Professional, TrackingMore Pro, AfterShip on a higher plan, or Malomo, which also ships templates for Attentive and Postscript.
Exceptions: the message nobody sends
A stuck or late parcel is when customers write in. Shipup advertises 60+ proactive notifications with alerts for your support team, and WeSupply lists 50+ email status types. 17TRACK only lets you customize triggers on Premium. Test this message first: one store had a fake "delivery exception" email sent to its whole customer list.
What it costs to notify 1,000 and 4,000 customers a month
Worked out from official pricing on monthly billing, without trials, first-month promos, or the cost of texts and WhatsApp messages, which depends on your account.
At 1,000 orders a month
17TRACK Pro and TrackingMore Basic both land at $49 (TrackingMore: $9 plus 800 orders at $0.05). WeSupply Growth stays at $50 since its quota covers 2,000. ParcelPanel Essential is $51, TrackingMore Pro $55 with Klaviyo, and Malomo Lite $49, or $67 if Malomo sends four emails per order. Shipup is $75 and AfterShip Essentials $83 ($11 plus 900 shipments at $0.08).
At 4,000 orders a month
WeSupply Growth climbs to $150 ($50 plus 2,000 shipments at $0.05), TrackingMore Pro to $155 and ParcelPanel Professional to $159. Malomo Starter costs $189 for 4,000 shipments before emails. AfterShip Essentials reaches $323 ($11 plus 3,900 shipments at $0.08), the most expensive option at this volume.
ParcelPanel's break-even point
Essential costs $11 plus $0.05 per order past 200. Above 1,160 orders a month, Professional at $59 is cheaper, and you get Klaviyo and auto-translation thrown in.
Six settings that keep notifications from backfiring
A bad notification is worse than none: a customer told "delivered" for a parcel that isn't there emails you, and sometimes calls their bank. These settings come from merchant reviews and the platforms' own documentation.
Settings
Turn on Shopify's native emails and texts first
FreeBefore installing anything, open Settings, then Notifications, and enable the four tracking templates. Tracking texts need an app: Shopify doesn't send them. If your "where is my order?" emails drop enough, you don't need to pay for more.

Keep discount codes out of the delivered email
ComplianceA tracking update is a transactional message, and that's why you can send it to every buyer. Stuff it with a product carousel or a coupon and it starts to look like marketing, with the consent rules that come with it. Send the offer separately, a couple of days later, to customers who opted in.

Send yourself a test for every status
Before launchOne-star reviews describe shipping emails sent twice and false exceptions sent to a whole customer base. Place a test order, move it through each status, and read every message on your phone. Check the language, the tracking link and the sender name while you're at it.

Make sure tracking emails don't land in spam
DeliverabilityAn undelivered tracking email brings back the exact question you wanted to avoid. Send tests to a Gmail and an Outlook address. If they hit spam, set up your own sending domain if your tool allows it (SPF and DKIM, the two records that prove the email really comes from you), or send through Klaviyo.

Delivery notification FAQ
How do I automatically tell customers their package was delivered?
On Shopify, enable the Delivered template under Settings, then Notifications: it fires when the carrier reports the delivery event. If your carrier doesn't report it reliably, an app like ParcelPanel, 17TRACK or AfterShip tracks the parcel itself. On WooCommerce, AST alone won't send it; you need TrackShip.
Can Shopify send shipping updates by text?
Not shipping updates. If your business address is in a supported country (the US, UK, Canada and Australia among them), Shopify sends only the order confirmation by text, and only to a customer who gave a phone number and no email. For a text at each delivery stage, you need an app: AfterShip includes SMS from its $11 Essentials plan.
Should I put a discount code in tracking emails?
Better not. A tracking email that pushes a promotion stops being a pure service message and can fall under marketing consent rules. Keep the delivery email informational and send the offer separately to customers who opted in.
SMS or WhatsApp for delivery notifications?
SMS works everywhere with no app on the customer's side; WhatsApp allows richer messages and is common with European shoppers. Here, AfterShip, WeSupply, Shipup and TrackShip send texts, and Sendcloud adds WhatsApp from Lite. Both carry a per-message cost, so keep them for out for delivery and exceptions.
Do I need a tracking app if I already use Shopify's notifications?
Not at first. Shopify sends four tracking emails out of the box. An app pays off when you want a branded tracking page, translated messages, exception alerts or Klaviyo flows.
How do I send delivery notifications from Klaviyo?
You need an app that pushes tracking events into Klaviyo, because Klaviyo alone only sees the fulfilled order. The cheapest options are TrackingMore Pro at $55 and ParcelPanel Professional at $59. Malomo, from $49, adds ready-made flow templates.
What's the best delivery notification plugin for WooCommerce?
Install Advanced Shipment Tracking, free, to add the tracking number to order emails, then TrackShip, from $7.50 a month, for email and SMS at every stage. TrackShip's trial covers 100 shipments over 15 days with no card.
How many notifications should I send per order?
Four cover most stores: shipped, out for delivery, delivered, and an exception message if the parcel stalls. Beyond that, every carrier scan becomes one message too many, and one more cost if you're on SMS or WhatsApp.
