Which invoicing software handles both VeriFactu and Facturae?

Six Spanish invoicing apps compared on one question: do they produce the VeriFactu invoice and the Facturae file for FACe, and on which plan?

The short answer: TS Facturas (formerly Billin) if you're a freelancer or a small company, because VeriFactu, Facturae and FACe filing are included on every plan, from €6.60 a month billed yearly (before 21% VAT). B2Brouter if public-sector clients are a big part of your revenue and you want to get ready for B2B e-invoicing: FACe on all three plans, €110 a year for the first paid plan. Odoo if you run inventory or several companies. Contasimple only on its Ultimate plan. Holded and STEL Order if you get the vendor to confirm in writing which plan includes Facturae.

Why this trips up so many expats and foreign-owned companies: Spain stacks three rules that have nothing to do with each other. VeriFactu sets requirements for your invoicing software (tamper-proof records, a QR code, optional real-time reporting to the AEAT, the Spanish tax agency). Facturae is an XML file format, digitally signed, that public bodies have required since 2015, filed through FACe, the central government's e-invoice portal. And mandatory B2B e-invoicing under the Crea y Crece law starts in fall 2027 for the largest companies. An app that exports Facturae isn't automatically VeriFactu-ready, and the reverse is just as true.

Pick in one line. Freelancer with a few public clients: TS Facturas. Regular government supplier: B2Brouter. Company with stock or a till: Odoo. Already on Holded or STEL Order: stay, but check the plan. Fewer than twelve invoices a year: the two free government tools, knowing you'll need both.

The table that settles it

Who really does VeriFactu and Facturae, and on which plan?

On a Spanish features page, "factura electrónica" can mean almost anything. We split it into three questions. Is the software VeriFactu-ready? Does it produce a Facturae file on a paid plan, not just during the trial? And what happens next: does the app send the invoice to FACe, or do you sign it and upload it to the portal yourself?

The rank follows how well each app covers both rules and what it costs to get there. The score out of 5 is for the whole product and stays the same across all our pages. That's why Holded, the highest-rated app here, isn't number one: its pricing grid doesn't say which plan includes Facturae.

The simplest way to get VeriFactu and Facturae from the first plan

TS Facturas

3.9/5

TS Facturas, formerly Billin, is the only app in our comparison that spells out what everyone is looking for: unlimited VeriFactu, Facturae and TicketBAI invoices on every plan, with FACe e-invoices on the list of what's included everywhere. No add-on, no upgrade just because your client is a town hall.

Pricing depends on how many clients you have, not how many invoices you send. Básico costs €8 a month, or €80 a year (€6.60 a month), for up to 5 clients and one user. Pro is €17 (€168 a year) for 6 to 50 clients and three users. Ilimitado is €28 (€276 a year). All prices are before 21% VAT. If you bill two or three public bodies and a handful of companies, the entry plan often does the job.

Why it matters for Facturae: an app that handles VeriFactu and Facturae from the same invoice record saves you the double entry that worries so many users on Spanish forums. You issue the invoice once. It's logged for VeriFactu, and the file for FACe comes from the same record. You still need a valid Spanish digital certificate (usually from the FNMT): without one, no Facturae file is valid.

The interface and support are in Spanish, which is worth knowing if you're not fluent. Public reviews average around 3.5 out of 5, with a majority of five-star ratings but nearly one in five at one star, almost all about support. In its replies to reviews, the vendor says phone support isn't offered to every customer. And the client cap pushes the price up fast if you have many small clients.

Standout features
  • Unlimited VeriFactu, Facturae and TicketBAI on every plan
  • FACe e-invoices included on all plans
  • Priced by number of clients, no invoice quota
  • 30-day trial without a card
+Pros
  • ✓No guessing which plan covers Facturae
  • ✓Lowest entry price for both rules
  • ✓One entry for VeriFactu and FACe
−Cons
  • ✗Support rated weak in public reviews
  • ✗Básico capped at 5 clients
Verdict

Our first pick if you want both rules covered without reading the fine print. If you have more than 50 clients or need phone support, look at B2Brouter or Odoo. Also invoicing in the Basque Country? See our VeriFactu and TicketBAI comparison.

Built for regular government suppliers

B2Brouter

3.5/5

B2Brouter isn't a business management app. It's an e-invoice exchange network, and that's exactly why it fits here. FACe is included on all three plans, along with Peppol (the European e-invoicing network). From Professional up, you also receive invoices through FACeB2B and national networks. VeriFactu is on every plan too. The vendor says it handles Facturae and UBL, but its pricing grid doesn't name Facturae, and importing Facturae files is described as a manual step.

For unlimited invoicing, it's the cheapest option on this list. Basic is free but limited to one user, 10 contacts and 24 transactions a year: two invoices a month, incoming ones included. Professional costs €110 a year (yes, a year) with two users and unlimited transactions. Business is €300 a year for ten users. Pricing is per tax ID, so per company.

Where it stands out for what's coming: B2B e-invoicing in Spain will run either through the AEAT's public platform or through private platforms that must connect to each other. A tool that already is an exchange network is better placed than most invoicing apps. The catch: B2Brouter has no reviews on the major review sites, so there's nothing to go on either way. And one third-party comparison lists it as "not VeriFactu-compliant", which its own pricing page contradicts. Ask for a compliance statement before you commit.

Standout features
  • FACe on all three plans
  • Peppol, FACeB2B and national networks for receiving from Professional
  • VeriFactu on every plan
  • Yearly pricing, per company
+Pros
  • ✓Professional at €110 a year, unlimited transactions
  • ✓Already an exchange network for B2B e-invoicing
  • ✓Free plan to get started
−Cons
  • ✗Basic capped at 24 transactions a year
  • ✗Facturae not named on the grid, no public reviews
Verdict

The right pick if FACe is part of your weekly routine and you want to get ahead on B2B. If you also need quotes, inventory and bookkeeping, you'll need a business app alongside it.

3
Your pick if you run inventory, a till or several companies

Odoo

3.5/5

Odoo handles both rules with two official modules in its Spanish localization. The Facturae module comes with the localization; you upload your digital certificate and set its scope to Facturae. The VeriFactu module is installed separately, and there's a point-of-sale version too. On each public-sector customer, Odoo has fields for the three FACe offices: the accounting office, the managing body and the processing unit, better known as DIR3 codes.

The line to remember from its documentation: the XML file is NOT sent automatically. Odoo produces the signed Facturae invoice, but you or your Odoo partner upload it to FACe. For a few public invoices a month, that's fine. For hundreds, plan for a connector.

Pricing starts at zero for a single app, Invoicing, with unlimited users. As soon as you add inventory, point of sale or CRM, you need the paid Standard plan, priced per user. Support gets the lowest score in this ranking: setup usually goes through a partner, and that's where the certificate and DIR3 codes get configured.

Standout features
  • Facturae module installed with the Spanish localization
  • VeriFactu module, including point of sale
  • Three FACe codes on the customer record
  • Digital certificate loaded into Odoo
+Pros
  • ✓Widest feature coverage in the ranking
  • ✓Free while you only use Invoicing
  • ✓VeriFactu covered at the till too
−Cons
  • ✗The Facturae XML doesn't go to FACe on its own
  • ✗Setup usually handled by a partner
Verdict

The right pick if invoicing is just one part of how you run the business. To bill three town halls a year, it's overkill. Need help setting it up? See our Odoo agency.

Cheap, as long as you pick the right plan

Contasimple

3.4/5

Contasimple, owned by Cegid, is VeriFactu-ready all the way down to its free plan. For Facturae, the pricing grid hides a surprise: Facturae 3.2 is only available during the 30-day trial on Básico and Profesional. It stays unrestricted on Ultimate only. FACe appears in the Profesional feature list, but without a permanent Facturae file, that doesn't get you far.

So run the numbers on Ultimate: €19.95 a month before VAT, or €15.95 billed yearly, with unlimited documents. Profesional, at €12.95 (€10.95 yearly), caps you at 500 documents a year. The free plan stops at 12 documents a year and 10 clients. Heads up: the monthly and yearly labels are swapped in places on the pricing page, so check the amount in your cart before you pay.

The weak spots are support and digital certificates. Public reviews average 3.5 out of 5, with a third of reviews at one star. In 2026, one customer complained they could no longer enter invoices because the platform reportedly only accepted FNMT certificates, and the company acknowledged certificate issues. If you're a foreign company signing with a certificate from another provider, check it during the trial.

Standout features
  • VeriFactu-ready, even on the free plan
  • Unrestricted Facturae 3.2 on Ultimate
  • Unlimited documents on Ultimate
  • FACe listed on Profesional
+Pros
  • ✓Ultimate stays under €20 a month
  • ✓Free plan for very low volumes
  • ✓VeriFactu included from the free plan
−Cons
  • ✗Facturae only on trial outside Ultimate
  • ✗Digital certificate problems reported in 2026
Verdict

Worth it if you go straight to Ultimate. On Básico or Profesional, Facturae disappears on day 31: that's the trap on this list.

The most complete, if the vendor confirms the plan

Holded

4.1/5

Holded is one of the best-rated business apps on our VeriFactu pages, and its grid is clear on one point: every plan includes VeriFactu. On e-invoicing, the pricing page only says "VeriFactu and e-invoicing included and up to date", without saying which plan produces a Facturae file. For FACe, the process the vendor describes seems to be: Holded generates the invoice, then you sign it and upload the XML to the portal. We couldn't read that help page in full, so treat this as unconfirmed.

Plans are sized by invoices per year. Plus is €15 a month for 250 invoices a year, half price for the first three months. Básico is €29 (1,000 invoices, two users plus access for your accountant). Estándar is €59 (3,000 invoices, four users), Avanzado €99 (10,000) and Premium €199 (unlimited). Prices are before VAT.

Our advice: during the 14-day trial, create a public-sector customer with its three DIR3 codes, issue an invoice and look at what comes out. If you get a signed file ready for FACe on the plan you plan to pay for, Holded becomes the best pick on this page for an SMB. If the vendor won't confirm it in writing, go with TS Facturas or B2Brouter, which state it openly.

Standout features
  • VeriFactu on every plan
  • E-invoicing advertised as included
  • Bookkeeping, CRM and accountant access
  • 50% off the first 3 months
+Pros
  • ✓Most complete business app in the ranking
  • ✓Plus at €7.50 for the first three months
  • ✓Invoicing and bookkeeping in one place
−Cons
  • ✗Plan that includes Facturae not stated on the grid
  • ✗FACe filing probably manual
Verdict

Excellent software, ranked fifth here because Facturae isn't spelled out. Get it in writing. Thinking of leaving? See the best Holded alternatives.

6
For field-service businesses that also bill the public sector

STEL Order

3.6/5

STEL Order is built for field work: quotes on site, work orders, the client signing on a phone. VeriFactu is included on every plan. For the public sector, the vendor advertises Facturae invoices and automated filing to FACe and other official platforms. Along with B2Brouter, it's the only one here that talks about automatic filing rather than a manual upload.

The problem is the pricing grid: it doesn't say which plan includes Facturae and FACe. Spanish-market prices are €24 a month for Lite, €36 for Business and €60 for Pro, or €20, €30 and €50 a month billed yearly, before VAT. If you open the pricing page from the US, it shows dollar prices that don't apply to Spanish businesses. There's a Free plan, but don't count on it for FACe without confirmation.

Its strength is support, the best-rated in this ranking. Put it to work: before paying, ask which plan includes automatic FACe filing, and have them walk you through a public-sector invoice from start to finish.

Standout features
  • VeriFactu on every plan
  • Facturae and automated FACe filing advertised
  • Quotes and work orders on mobile
  • Best-rated support in the ranking
+Pros
  • ✓Designed for field-service businesses
  • ✓Automated FACe filing advertised
  • ✓Best-rated support on our VeriFactu pages
−Cons
  • ✗Plan that includes Facturae not stated
  • ✗Pricier than TS Facturas for the same two rules
Verdict

A good pick for field work, as long as you get the exact plan in writing. Comparing before you switch? See the best STEL Order alternatives.

VeriFactu, Facturae, B2B e-invoicing: what to actually check

Six checks drawn from the regulations and from user forums. Run them during the trial, not after your first rejected invoice. For a broader ranking of VeriFactu apps, see the best VeriFactu software, and if you're self-employed, our picks for freelancers.

Three rules, three timelines

Facturae and FACe: mandatory for invoicing public bodies since 2015 (Law 25/2013). VeriFactu: 2027 under current law, with a delay to 2028 announced by the Finance Ministry but not yet published in the official gazette. B2B e-invoicing: fall 2027 for companies above €8M in revenue, fall 2028 for everyone else, freelancers included. English guides that still say July or "mid-2027" are out of date.

Issue once, not twice

It's the question on every Spanish forum: do you create the Facturae invoice, file it on FACe, then redo it in your software for VeriFactu? No. Good software logs the invoice for VeriFactu and produces the signed Facturae file in one action. In Sage 50, for example, you tick "post and certify" and "create e-invoice" at the same time. Try that during the trial.

Your digital certificate

A Facturae file must be signed (XAdES format, .xsig extension). You need a valid Spanish digital certificate (usually from the FNMT). FACe error 15-428 means an invalid signature: most of the time, the file was edited after signing or the certificate expired. Never touch the XML once it's signed, and put the expiry date in your calendar.

Why generic international apps struggle

On one open-source invoicing app's forum, a Spain-based user hit a wall with Facturae: the certificate didn't show up, the XML was rejected on the tax ID and the signature. Switching the client type to "Individual" finally got the invoice accepted in FACe, but VAT and income tax withholding were still missing from the file. Unless an international tool has a dedicated Spanish module, assume Facturae will be painful.

DIR3 codes and the €5,000 threshold

Every public-sector invoice carries three DIR3 codes: the accounting office, the managing body and the processing unit. Ask your client for them before invoicing: a code for a unit that no longer exists blocks the invoice. The law lets public bodies exempt invoices under €5,000, but each one decides. Many suppliers assumed an automatic exemption and got it wrong.

Will Facturae work for B2B?

Partly. The AEAT's public B2B platform uses UBL, a different XML format. Private platforms can exchange UBL, CII, EDIFACT or Facturae, and connecting them must be free. Ask your vendor whether it will plug into the public platform or a private one. A PDF sent by email will no longer count as a B2B invoice. Free government options exist (MiFacturae for Facturae and FACe, the AEAT app for VeriFactu), but they're two separate tools.

  • Facturae available on the plan you pay for, not just during the trial
  • VeriFactu invoice and .xsig file produced in one action
  • Automatic FACe filing, or a manual upload you're ready to do
  • Your digital certificate accepted, expiry date noted
  • Three DIR3 codes saved on every public-sector customer
  • Written answer from the vendor on B2B: public platform or private one
  • Client, document or transaction cap compared with last year's volume
  • Interface and support language checked if you don't read Spanish
  • Corrective invoice checked without breaking the numbering
FAQ

Your questions about VeriFactu and Facturae

  • Is VeriFactu the same as Facturae?

No. VeriFactu sets rules for your invoicing software: records that can't be altered, a QR code on the invoice, optional reporting to the AEAT. Facturae is a signed XML file format required to invoice public bodies through FACe. An app can do one without the other: Quipu and Anfix show VeriFactu without Facturae, and MiFacturae does Facturae without VeriFactu.

  • Is VeriFactu the same as B2B e-invoicing in Spain?

No, and that's the most common mix-up in English guides. VeriFactu is about how your software records invoices. B2B e-invoicing, under the Crea y Crece law, is about exchanging structured invoices with other companies. They're separate obligations with separate dates: 2027 in law for VeriFactu (2028 announced), fall 2027 or fall 2028 for B2B depending on your size.

  • Do freelancers in Spain need Facturae?

Only if you invoice the public sector. Facturae is required for invoices to public bodies through FACe, whatever your size. If all your clients are private companies or individuals, you don't need it today. You'll need structured B2B e-invoices from fall 2028, and Facturae will be one of the formats private platforms can exchange.

  • Do I need a digital certificate for Facturae?

Yes. Every Facturae file has to be signed, and that takes a Spanish digital certificate or an electronic DNIe. Most businesses use one from the FNMT. Check that your invoicing app accepts your certificate before you commit: certificate problems are one of the most common complaints in user reviews.

  • Is MiFacturae enough?

Not on its own. MiFacturae, the free government service launched in 2024, creates Facturae invoices and files them on FACe. It doesn't handle VeriFactu, and it isn't the B2B solution. You'd need the AEAT's free app for VeriFactu as well, which means entering each invoice twice.

  • Where does the VeriFactu QR code go on a Facturae invoice?

A structured invoice like Facturae doesn't carry a QR image: the QR code's web address goes inside the file's data instead. Your software should fill it in for you. For QR rules on paper and PDF invoices, see our page on VeriFactu QR codes.

  • What if FACe rejects my invoice for a signature error?

Check your certificate is still valid, then sign the file again without editing it after signing. Error 15-428 almost always comes from one of those two things. If it keeps happening, check the DIR3 codes: a unit removed after a reorganization also gets the invoice rejected.
